▶ 001. IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL

On the 1st of April, Outsiders will be rudely awakened by the sudden voice of Captain Yamakawa:

"Angels of Lilith. I require your immediate attention. Through your efforts at extracting information from our captives, and intel collected by our intelligence team, we have located the culprits who have stolen our specimens and are conducting illegal experiments. Your mission briefing will arrive shortly. Take caution, however. The Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is reporting strange abnormalities in their readings. We will look further into this. For now, stay sharp and be prepared."

The alarm will sound in the base, urging all Outsiders to suit up, bring their weapons and get ready for the mission. A location pin will then be downloaded into their implant, along with an associated mission briefing. The location will lead to an abandoned amusement park that might be familiar to some - Tokyo Disneyland. The brief will report that according to intel, there is an unauthorized research facility hidden within the premises. Outsiders are to locate it, storm it, and seize any lab specimens they can find.

To get to the theme park, characters will be able to take trains to the edge of Neo Tokyo where they can then be transported by armored trucks through what remains of old roads. Eventually, when the terrain becomes too destroyed and overgrown with brush, they’ll have to travel by foot the rest of the way. However, they will have to be careful because it looks like someone has laid out traps. Some of them are designed to capture animals but others are clearly booby traps meant to deter intruders.

From the outside, nothing looks out of the ordinary in this old park - there are classic attractions such as Cinderella’s castle, the Haunted Mansion, Alice’s Teacup ride, the Western River Railroad, and many, many more. While most of the rides are weathered down and no longer functional, there are plenty of old gift shops and carnival game booths with prizes to take home for free (if you don’t mind a really old Minnie Mouse doll).

LILITH was not able to pinpoint exactly where this secret laboratory is hidden within the enormous park, and it’s now up to the Outsiders to find it. All implants will be fitted with a heat-seeking function to allow Outsiders to detect anomalies within the park.

The first part of the mission is simple: Scour the rides and attractions and find the entrance.

Outsiders may encounter more booby traps while searching the park. Traps will range from making parts of attractions and buildings collapse on intruders to more elaborate and high-tech ones like electric fields or explosive traps. Players are more than welcome to come up with their own traps so long as it fits the setting.

▶ 002. BOO WHO?

Eventually, Outsiders will find themselves drawn to the Haunted Mansion, where there appear to be several abnormal signs of life. While the mansion would hardly have been scary to anyone but children several hundred years ago, centuries without any sort of maintenance have turned the place into a real nightmare. Pitch darkness, decrepit fake graves that look like they could be real ones, and the mysterious chatter of – is that a ghost? There are flickers of life within the old animatronics, and ever so often you might see a skeleton or zombie twitch. They might even take a swing at an unsuspecting Outsider.

The deeper into the mansion you travel, the more power it appears to have, until the Outsiders reach a door that appears to be heavily guarded by a group of humans holding vicious chimeras on a leash.

Once LILITH receives this intel, the next order is given: Storm the lab immediately!

▶ 003. LET'S GECK-GO!

As the Outsiders infiltrate the lab, the air buzzes with electricity and everyone's hair begins to stand on end not from fear but from the sheer amount of energy generated. There may be a lot of machines generating a lot of power and some of it may be spilling excess electricity into the air but this feels different. It feels more potent.

Suddenly, the park comes to life. Old generators buzz to life, staticky music begins to play on the worn out speakers, and the lights begin to flash. From the overgrowth surrounding the park, trees begin to topple over. It is obvious that something is approaching and whatever it is seems to have a lot of energy. From the trees, a giant, gecko-like creature emerges. The air around it sparks and each step it takes generates a wave of electricity that follows the many wires and systems laid out underground.

The energy at the park seems to be drawing the unknown kaiju towards the park and more geckos appear from the forests behind it. They move quickly through the park and climb over the buildings and attractions. When they see a hybrid or a person nearby, they will stun them with their electric fields and try to eat them. As they begin to swarm the park, they go into a feeding frenzy that infects the air around them. Rides begin to spin faster, the music grows louder, lights explode, and the more electricity and power the geckos absorb, the bigger they become when they shed their skins.

One gecko in particular grows faster than the others. This one will keep growing with no apparent end in sight and begins climbing over the highest rides until they topple under its weight. Outsiders will have to avoid collapsing rubble and climb over ruined attractions to take down this kaiju while also stopping the other geckos from growing to the same size.

After dealing with the gecko kaiju for some time without any information, a report will finally come in:

NAME: Yamadenki
HEIGHT: 3 metres- unknown (does not stop growing)
WEIGHT: 1,500-70,000 kg
CLASS: Dangerous
LOCATION: Kanto, Japan
ABILITIES: Stores electricity within its body. Uses static electricity to climb up and stick to objects. Can use electric shocks to stun and injure prey. The more energy they absorb, the bigger they grow. When close enough to a human, it kills them by biting into their flesh and absorbing the electrical currents within the cells, disrupting the heart rate and nervous system. It then eats the flesh.
WEAKNESS: Attacks to the head and body. Ice and extreme cold (they are cold blooded).
EXTRA NOTES: Can regrow appendages. Their severed appendages and bodies can retain electricity for an unknown amount of time so proceed with caution.

✖ Cut off the supply of electricity at the park by disabling all generators
✖ Bring back the Yamadenki (alive or dead) for research purposes
✖ Bring back the hybrid specimens
✖ Capture all suspicious persons for interrogation

The Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.

▶ 004. A RIFT IN SPACE-TIME

"MAYDAY, MAYDAY! Unknown energy signal detected! Reaching maximum output! Our sensors are detecting a breach in the inter-dimensional fabric!"

An hour into battle, Outsiders will receive a sudden warning signal, urging them to complete their mission and eliminate the Yamadenki before it’s too late. All that concentrated energy generated at the park is being corrupted by the Yamadenki, and it’s not long before a rift bursts through from beneath the Haunted Mansion, causing a huge explosion and a rain of rubble and mysterious energy. It’s the first of its kind. A rift has never opened this close to Neo Tokyo!

Energy from the rift seems to affect anyone standing too close to it, transforming any unprotected human into a snarling, groaning, human-reptilian hybrid. These hybrids have electrical qualities similar to the Yamadenki and are just as ferocious. The plugsuits issued by LILITH should protect characters against any nasty transformations (unless there is some damage to them or they have taken them off), but exposure to the rift can still result in increased headaches, vertigo, irritability and impulsiveness.

The rift is growing larger by the minute, and from the other side of it - the growling of a number of unknown beasts can be heard. Even the higher ups within LILITH are anxious about this. The only way to stop the rift is to cut off its power supply.

"Angels of LILITH! We must act fast! Disable all generators and subdue the Kaiju before it’s too late!"

▶ 005. AFTERMATH.

As the Outsiders shut down generators and take down the Yamadenki, the rift shrinks in size until finally it closes. Everything at the park goes still now that there is no more power to run things. Some of the corrupted humans and hybrids still linger and will have to be taken down or captured but they are in weakened states now that the rift has closed.

Outsiders will be tasked with capturing the Rift-infected humans who will then be transported to LILITH base for treatment... if they can be treated, that is. Outsiders will also need to report for treatment. Characters may experience the lingering effects of the rift such as the vertigo, headaches, shorter tempers, and impulsive behavior. The LILITH medics aren’t sure what to do other than prescribing bed rest and maybe offering some medication for their headaches. The worst cases may be prescribed sedatives.

Normally, LILITH would order the Outsiders to retrieve specimens from the field but given the events that unfolded, they are told to standby until a special research unit can inspect the area for contamination and give the all clear.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our second Kaiju log! As before, all prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, any characters suffering negative effects from the rift will recover within a week, though you are welcome to determine the severity of their symptoms during that time.

Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the largest gecko will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).

[Even abandoned and in a state of neglect and disrepair, there's still a sense of magic left in the theme park, at least for Izuku. Growing up far enough away from Tokyo to make the trip a rare treat, he's only visited the park maybe once in his life, when he was much younger. But the memories of that trip still linger in his mind, the lively park of his memories overlapping with its desolate and empty shadow.

He should be looking for clues or something that will lead them to the research facility, but he can't help but let nostalgia carry him forward until he's standing outside the entrance of the Westernland Shootin' Gallery". Realizing he's broken off from his search partner, he glances back.]

Hey, let's take a look in here!

[So maybe his mind isn't completely on the task at hand, but that doesn't mean he can't multi-task. There could be a trap door in here.]

[ Searching isn't usually Yuji's forte, not when he has people who were far more skilled at it than him, but he is doing what he can. He's pushing himself, maybe, peering, ducking down, sliding around to look and look, and he keeps coming up short. It's disappointing, so he turns back to Izuku with a nod of his head.

Any lead is something, isn't it?

Stepping around the gallery, he peeks his head inside... And lights up a little. Oh, he has you twigged, buddy... ]

Yeah, absolutely! You never know where they might hide, so we have to check everywhere!

[ And if they accidentally play a game... Who could know? ]

[Stepping through the doors is like stepping into the past, where a little Izuku begged his mom to let him keep playing until he hit every target. Even the fine layer of dust coating everything and the stale air can't erase the fondness he feels as he steps up to the counter mounted with a row of fake rifles.]

It would make sense for the lab to be based inside or under an existing attraction. It would give them an extra layer of coverage.

[Which would probably sound more realistic if he was actually putting up the pretense of looking around and not grabbing one of the rifles and lining it up with the target. He's not expecting anything to happen. Everything has been abandoned and in disuse for so long.

...So he kind of jumps in surprise when he pulls the trigger and the target lights up.]

[ Yuji never had this kind of experience as a child: there's no way his grandpa would ever let him go to a place like this, too busy with all the other things going on in their lives, so when he looks around... His eyes widen and he brightens. It's really like being a kid - and sometimes he forgets that's what he is. ]

You think so? Maybe people wouldn't think to look under them... I know me and dandelion were looking for generators, so.

[ Turning his head over at the sound of the target pinging, Yuji laughs, reaching out to grab one of the rifles and tilting it one way and then the other. Interesting. ]

I didn't think they'd still be working! This is so cool!

[He recovers quickly, his surprise quickly shifting to excitement as he moves his gun to focus on a new target. For a moment he forgets about the mission and the weight of the responsibility they each hold, replaced with a simple child-like joy he hasn't felt in ages.

But it doesn't take his entire focus, and he's able to follow their conversation with no problem. Searching for the generators makes sense, especially as they are clearly the source of power that is allowing this game to run. That's not what causes his expression to shift into confusion.]

Dandelion? Who is that?

[He doesn't recall meeting anyone on base with a name like that. But he's hardly met everyone.]

Wherever those generators are, they're clearly still operating. We probably have the research lab to thank for that.

[He notices Yuji turning the gun this way and that.] Do you know how to play?

[ Taking position beside Izuku, Yuji lifts the rife to try and aim down the sights, tilting his head. He's not exactly trained in guns, but this is just an arcade, right... He can make it work. It's just a bit of fun.

Shifting his weight, he adjusts his stance to aim again, humming softly. Yeah, he could probably get a decent score in a game like this, but it's been ages since he was in an arcade properly... It's a little nostalgic, in fact. ]

Huh? Oh, right, that's Bakugo. I call him that because of his hair, you know?

[ Pale and white and sticking up, like a dandelion. He rarely actually calls the guy by name these days...

Leaning down, he peers over at the targets, frowning a little. ]

We just have to shoot things, right? It can't be that hard.

[His aim fumbles the moment Yuji says Bakugo's name, causing him to miss the target by a large margin. He turns his head to look at the other boy, his expression battling between horror and amusement.]

You're really brave, giving Kacchan a nickname like that.

[Not to mention saying it to his face. He must hate getting a taste of his own medicine.]

Yeah, pretty much. Just aim for all of the targets. The more you hit, the higher your score will be.

[ Yuji just blinks at Izuku for a moment, not sure what to say. It's not as if Bakugo had really complained about it at all, at least not more than the first awkward argument with stupid nicknames. ]

Am I? He doesn't seem to mind it. He even gives me a stupid nickname in return.

[ What's Bakugo gonna do? Hit him? Try it. ]

Is it really that weird for him?

[His brows raise in surprise before he shakes his head.]

He likes to give everyone nicknames. They're not always the most flattering. But most people wouldn't bother returning the favor. Especially in the past, he...didn't always have the greatest attitude.

[As opposed to now?]

He's become a lot calmer these days though. Maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.

That's definitely true! He shouts a lot, but usually I just let him shout until he's done and then we get on with whatever we're doing. He calls me 'Gari Head', by the way.

[ Because of his pink hair... Sighing, Yuji peers at the targets. ]

He's a good guy though, isn't he? Under all the shouting and stuff.

Yeah, that fits his signature style of nicknames. [He chuckles.] Mine is Deku. If you see that username around the network, that's me. I use it as my hero name back home so it seemed fitting.

[He fires at another two targets and gets the bullseye on both.]

Yeah, he is. I think a lot of people are surprised by that once they get to know him because of the way he comes across.

Deku... In that case, mine is 'vessel'.

[ Isn't that kind of...

Damn, Bakugo. ]

You just need to let him get it all out and then he's fine. We end up shouting at each other a lot, but it's not like it's serious or anything - it's just fun.

[Yeah, he's not going to bother explaining anything. Or why he's made a nickname like that his hero name. It's fine. Really.]

That's pretty easy to remember. Why did you choose it?

[Meanwhile he'll unknowingly dig into someone else's issues. Sorry Yuji.]

I can see that. You're both really [loud] extroverted. You remind me a bit of one of our classmates, Kirishima. He and Kacchan get along like that too. He never takes what Kacchan says too seriously.

I didn't choose it. This place gave it to me, but it's not wrong.

[ Yuji just... Shrugs... As if that's totally normal. No explanation on what a vessel is? None needed, surely.

Nodding, he grins. ]

I haven't heard anything about that guy! I like Bakugo a lot, though, he's been really nice to me. I'd probably do anything for him now.

['But it's not wrong.' Izuku's brows furrow a bit at that in confusion. Yuji is a vessel for what exactly?

Despite his curiosity he has enough tact not to come out and ask. For now.]

I'm glad he's been able to make some good friends here. [First he learned about Megumi and Bakugo's friendship. Now him and Yuji. They both seem like really solid guys.] I wouldn't be where I am today without the help of my friends. I mean in general, not here specifically.

[He'd still be wearing himself down trying to go it alone.]

Yeah! He seems to be pretty close with me, and Raidou, and I guess some of the others... We hang out a lot and help each other in missions and stuff.

[ Bakugo isn't his best friend - that's Megumi alone - but he's a dear friend, someone Yuji considers himself close to. They've shared a lot over the last few months, getting close, and he feels like Bakugo is someone who really understands him. ]

Me too. They're the most important thing to me.

It's a good thing that so many of us on the same team get along well. Raidou is a nice guy. He was interested in knowing more about my world and let me ask him a lot of questions about his.

[Once Izuku finds a topic that interests him he tends to want to gather all the information on it that he can. Being a summoner sounded really cool. Bless Raidou for his patience.]

That's right. You have people here with you too. Fushiguro-kun and Gojo-san, right? I'm glad. It's nice to have some familiar faces around.

[You can blame Gojo for this. He told Izuku about his students.]

Everlight seems to be filled with that sort of type, doesn't it? It feels good, to have people around who have the same sort of ideals as we do. It makes all of this stuff much easier to handle!

[ If he was in a team with people different from him, well... He wouldn't be having as good a time.

If the mention of Raidou has him blushing, well - that's neither here nor there. Lifting the gun, he aims absently. ]

Yeah, that's right! My brother, Choso, and my other classmate Kugisaki are here too. You've met them?

Yeah, everyone I've met in Everlight so far have been really helpful. It makes me wonder how LILITH sorts us into teams. Like what is the criteria for being in Everlight versus the others?

[If it's based on certain commonalities, such as ideals, it makes him more curious to know the extent of the information that LILITH has on each of them.]

Oh, I've met Choso once. He was asking everyone about their abilities so I gave him a bit of a demonstration of mine. I haven't met Kugisaki yet. Are they also in Everlight?

I have no idea! I just know we're all pretty cool, and we've had nice sleepovers.

[ Yuji hadn't thought about it even a little bit. ]

Kugisaki is, yeah, but my other friend is in a different team. It doesn't seem to matter that much, though.
