[ Lucy's struck for what to do during her downtime. And, as much as she abhors the thought, what better way to kill time than by going to her day job? I mean, they gave her a civilian name and everything for a reason. Might as well use it to stave off boredom, right?

So throughout the week, anyone who happens to walk into a particular coffee shop will see Lucy, or Momiji Akagawa, doing her best to make complicated influencer orders or those adorable 3D latte foam animals. The key words here are "doing her best" because such artwork is a skill and skills take time to master.

Please do her a kindness and order a black coffee, a caramel macchiato, or any the sandwiches instead. ]

[ Americano, huh. She can do that. It's just espresso and water, albeit the latter has to be at just the right amount. Before she goes to make it, however, she stops to consider the candy he's laid out all over the counter. ]

Tips aren't necessary anyway... [ It's frowned upon in Japan, which is news to her. But then again, she's never exactly gone out to eat at places where it might come up. ]

[ Lucy watches him taste the latte with her face never changing. Inside, however, there's a certain type of glee she gets from watching his face twist up into the full spectrum of human emotion in the span of a second. It's all she can do not to smile. ]

It's no use getting mad at me. I didn't come up with this. [ She shrugs, eager to fall back on the excuse of being a poor corporate lackey with no choice in the matter. ] You asked for something unique.

I think you'll get the hang of it eventually.

[A nod in return, she's being reassuring about this. Definitely projecting not bad person aura here. Understanding, reassuring, likes dogs. A standout of normalcy in the what the hell is the brimstone team anyways.]

At any rate I'm sure yours looks better than if I tried.

Probably.

[ She doesn't puff up though. There's no pride in something like this. Maybe. ]

I'll be good enough to make it look like it's waving, anyway.

[ Because it's good to have personal goals!! ]

Huh?

[ He clicks his tongue. ] Fine, you don't get anything, then. [ His tone comes out sharper than intended, but when doesn't it? Instead, he flicks his finger to knock a few pieces of candy out of the pile. ]

Except for those. I got them, but I don't like the flavor. [ And he flashes a quick, smug smile. ]

[saudadist]

[ Infuriating. But hey, she'll take an out where she can get it. She has to make that Americano anyway. But as she heads over to the station and prepares a cup under the espresso machine, she pauses. ]

Don't just leave those on our counter. You need to take care of your own trash.

[agnitio]

They're being left.

[ He quips back. ]

Either you eat them or throw them out. I don't care.

[saudadist]

[ The temptation to mess up his order is sooooo strong right now. Too strong to ignore, really. Yet, she knows the manager will be keeping an eye out, so she behaves. ]

There's a trash can right next to you. You can throw them away yourself.

[agnitio]

I've gone object blind or whatever.

[ And he shoves the lollipops that had been chilling in his hand into his mouth. Leaning forward, he grabs onto the rest of the candy and tugs it forward to hold against his chest.

A long stare at the pieces that he got, before flicking another wrapped one on the counter. ]

Oh that sounds cute. It's always adorable when they have their paw up like that.

[It's a personal goal that would get her approval.]

[saudadist]

[ Her patience is thin. Thin as tissue paper, if we're being honest. Yet she still has the wherewithal to finish his Americano and brings it over to the counter. Her expression doesn't change out of that exasperated look even when she does so. ]

Which ones are you leaving here, then?

[agnitio]

I guess those, those, and those.

[ He tips his chin up a little as he indicates what he's leaving with each bob. It's various flavors - because he doesn't know what flavor that she actually likes. Tilting his head, he thinks actually three is too little a number to guess. Glancing over the pile in his arms, he flicks off about five more. ]

These, too. [ With the pile of cheap candy slightly lessened, he reaches out to pick up the coffee. ] I have object blindness so they don't exist anymore, got it? They don't exist anymore so I'm not picking them up.

[saudadist]

[ There's a lot of things weird about this. Encouragement from another person is so...weird. Especially with the added layer of her being a customer. An utterly alien feeling, but it's not...terrible. ]

Then that'll be the one you get...next time.

[saudadist]

[ She hopes her shift ends soon. She knows it won't but she can hope. Futile as it is. Or if it doesn't end soon, she can at least have simple orders and less exhausting clientele.

But hey, if she's getting sweets out of this, even she can't grouch too much. But that little smile on her face means nothing despite her sweeping those candies into her apron pocket. ]

I guess so. Thanks for your patronage.

[ He leans forward slightly, laughter dancing in his eyes. It's the cheeky response that only he can give.

The arcanist takes a few steps back unwrapping and shoving candy into his mouth. It's enough to puff his cheeks out a little. He only pauses to down the drink that he was given like it was a shot - letting the hot, hot beverage wash over the candy.

And unlike the candies that he flicked onto the counter, the cup and wrappers tossed into the trash bin. He looks up, cheeks full like a chipmunk, and tilts his head to the side. His eyes close as he nods - deciding to agree that the bitterness is good with the sweets.

He lifts a hand up to wave goodbye, and starts to shuffle out. ]

[ Lucy watches Pavia step back and try out the coffee. It almost feels like she's watching a comedy act with hidden cameras, honestly. It's the puffed out cheeks and way he downs the espresso that really sells that idea.

But hey, he's satisfied and out the door, so who is she to complain? ]

So weird.

[ If there's a list, she's ignoring it on purpose. What a nice customer. ]

Shouldn't be too hard, right?

[ Hold up. No, really. She stops in the middle of her work and looks back, the cogs slowly turning in her head. ]

Squid? How would that even...

( he did... indeed... ask for something unique. but the point is for it to be, you know, consumable??? and not taste like poison??? ugh...

the worst of it all: wanderer drinks... or eats... all of it. it's a blessing he can't puke, because he's certain anyone would after this. )

... Don't put bacon next time. It makes absolutely no sense for it to be there. ( he's giving advice btw... constructive criticism, or something. ) Otherwise it... could be worse. Still awful, though.

[ Lucy nods as if she's sincerely taking in his criticism. Though really, she has no plans to change the recipe up even a little. She didn't come up with the menu, so why would she be able the change it? He'll have to take that complaint to corporate. ]

Yeah, yeah. I'll pass that along. Maybe if they get your bad review, they'll take it off the shelves.

Lucy watches her for a second, silent. She weighs the options of still trying or just making a splatterfest in the cafe, but the latter thought only lasts a second.

She can't. It's not worth it.

The pinkette turns back to the lattes to start on the third. She'll do the foam for them all at the same time, she figures. ]

Whatever.

[ Time to shove an entire human into the human blender. The human being Han Sooyoung herself. ]

I bet you're not getting a lot of tips, poor thing.

Gratuities are insulting.

[ Or so her manager said. Not as if she's paid less anyway, but extra money? She wouldn't turn it down unless it's to make a point.

She starts on the first latte, and despite her unsure movements, the shape does look like a cartoon animal. At first. Until she adds another lump on top of the base, then another with a swirl on it. Then cat ears. Then the coffee to stain a cute little cat face, point the ears.

When she turns it around, the foam creature is an actual cartoon pile of shit with cat ears. And a serviceably cute cat face. ]
