[Hello, fellow member of Brimstone.

A day or after you arrive, someone will come knock on your door.

Well, technically, first he grabs the handle and tries to open the door. There's a pause and then the knock. It's not a soft, inquiring knock, it's an energetic knock that goes on much longer than really necessary, like it's done by someone who doesn't understand a knock is a request and not a summons.

If you answer the knock, or come across him knock on yours/a day, he'll drop his hand and look at you with an amused curiosity.]

So. Who are you then?

[Yup, that's it. That's the important question at the center of all this knocking.]

Do humans exist in your world too?

That's true. Part of understanding the world is realizing that you have to accept things as they are if they cannot be changed. And very few of us have the power to cause change.

Certainly, none of us here can match LILITH in power.

The beings humans call "Angels" are simply messengers from a far off world. They are not divine. But their powers and forms are so great compared that the humans who learned of their existence believed them to be as close to a God as a being could ever get.

[This is... complicated and layered but he explains it with the air of explaining a very mediocre plot of a movie.]

Mm, I'm not arguing with that. You just gotta pick the right battles.

And how about you? Aren't you... bothered by all this?

Not really. I've been someone else's tool for most of my life.

[Because he thinks acting like he knows things is how to make good conversation.]

Besides, the last thing that happened to me was my own death. I certainly never expected anything more. Least of all anything like this. A place where I can go anywhere and speak to whomever I want.

There are plenty of 'em out there. Some even live in the Savanna, where I'm from.

[ Pavia snorts something through his nose. ]

What a weird concept. [ A beat. ] But all right. [ Arcanists are those that go with their chaotic emotions versus relying completely on logic. The tone is ordinary and so he takes it as an ordinary explanation; something to just be accepted as norm in the world that Kaworu comes from. Simple - easy. ]

What kind of shape does your God take? Since you're close to it, what shape is it? You seem the curious sort, so I guess God is curious.

Is that the only reason you want to be friends? Just because it would be easier if we were while we're also on the same team here?

[ whoa, this kid is so open about things that are usually kept as secrets? is he okay (no one in brimstone is okay, actually)

but also, the line about being someone's tool does strike a chord in her. she gets you, little guy. somewhat. ]

Well, this sure is one way of enjoying your newfound freedom. But there's a chance that our future battles are going to be just as deadly. Are you prepared to die all over again?

That's not how it works. ( not that he'd.. know... that well, but ) What happens when you get to know someone and you don't like their personality? You're going to break the friendship, just like that?

I want friends because I want to know what having a friend is like. It seemed easiest to start with the people who are assigned to the same team as I am since we will live near each other and work together.

[He considers the person across from him. Despite not being allowed entry, he doesn't seem offended by it.]


What makes you want a friend? Do you have any?

[peripheries]

[Because now he can tell everyone all his secrets! It's so fun.]

I don't fear death. It's simply a state of nonbeing. There's no pain or confusion.

[He pauses, as if a part of him is vexed by what he is going to say next, and then continues.]

But I don't want to die for someone else's goals. If I die again then it will be because I chose to accept this mission.

[ every word he says is striking all the chords in her, he may as well be strumming her heartstrings like a guitar with how moved she is. she understands where he's coming from, the more she was getting used to being killed and revived over and over back at the city. sometimes being dead isn't a huge deal. not anymore.

she stares at him a bit longer, then smiles. ]

That's the spirit. Glad you reached that realization at this age.

[thundercrashes]

[... That's kind of sad, when you phrase it like that buddy. Manjoume's scowl drops a few degrees because of those first words, only to then creep back up his face at the question as he scoffs.]

Of course I have friends. A decent amount of them, in fact.

[The old Manjoume of first year would have found having friends at all to be stupid... but at least the person he's become by now is able to admit that he considers some of the people he knows back home are in fact his friends.

But, they're not here right now. As it stands, Manjoume Jun is now alone, again.

Manjoume's stance shifts a bit against the door upon this realization, going from his arms crossed over his chest, to now at his hips in a cockier stance as he seems to come to a decision about something, adopting a more smug tone than before.]

Luckily for you, however, I'm feeling generous today... so if you really want to befriend me, the one and only Manjoume Thunder, then I suppose I could allow you the chance for attempting it.

No idea. I haven't decided. I would have to know what it's like to dislike someone like that before I know what I would do.

Are your people friendly with them? Or is there conflict?

Oh? Does that mean I'm wise?

Wiser than some of the bozos I've met so far, at least.

[ she smirks. that's definitely something to be proud of. ]

I think there is no such thing as a singular god. Gods are things and beings that possess the power to change reality. For angels, we see Adam as a god because he created us and gave us life. While humans viewed Adam as a sort of god because he possesses great power that they believed they could use to become gods themselves and alter the fate of their entire race.

[Boy this kid really loves... philosophy...]

No conflict. As long as everyone contributes in some way, they're welcome to live there.

[ Boy, he sure does.

Pavia, as Kaworu is talking, slides out of the chair like he's made of liquid. He shifts to lie face down on the ground. Some of his body starts to meld into the shadows on the floor. Yet somehow a sound comes out that sounds like groaning.

He resolidifies his body and rolls back to be face up. ]

Well, that's boring. Do you at least get to kill things as an angel?

( ... hold on a moment. )

... You have never hated someone? Or something?

[peripheries]

I've never really hated anyone for my own reasons. Or learned I disliked them. All of the conflict I've had with others is because of who were. So it was more predestination than choice. Of course, I'd dislike the old men that created me for their own purposes. Or the First Child for being similar to me and yet having what I wanted.

I don't know why I might dislike someone otherwise.

[peripheries]

[Kaworu smiles up at the other boy and his bluster. It's so interesting the way that humans, no... beings, react to his offer. He's seen such a variety of different reactions. At first he wonders if the suggestion that he has a chance at friendship to be literal, which is curious as it seems unusual as far as he understands friendship. Then he realizes it's something else.]

This is your way of communicating you are willing without right saying it, isn't it? Well, that's alright. I accept.
