If anything, he realizes he's probably the weird one for being attached to a particular mobile suit as he is, especially considering their primary function as tools of war. Yes, ideally there'd be no more use for them... But what can he say? Sometimes you just gotta appreciate a cool robot, divorced from its use as a weapon of destruction.
Besides, he went through a lot of shit during his days piloting the Buster. Not that Yzak didn't with the Duel, but. Dearka thought he'd lost his for good when he surrendered to the Archangel, which had turned into a point of shame which he'd lingered on often during his confinement. Then, after he'd been released, the Buster became the means by which he was able to take a stand and make good on his new convictions. So it'd be hard NOT to assign some kind of sentimental value to the mech, all things considered.
