[ For a moment, as his fingers close around her wrists, it's tempting to believe that this could alter the course of what took place that distant day. (And then? What kind of butterfly effect might ensue?) Enoch and Carmen were already gone, however, and Elijah was desperate to contribute for reasons that weren't solely motivated by their cause.

He doesn't expect her to notice his hands restraining her, to look up at him, to speak to him directly. The palpable tremor seizing her alongside the shift in her breathing appears to be in response to his interference. All the same, his grip tightens, driven by wishful thinking. ]


Neither should you.

[ The vial and the syringe are still in her hands — he won't force them out of her hold. It would be better, if she were to relinquish them herself, choosing to see sense. It's bad enough to shut her down again, even with the justification that it's for her own good. ]
