[ Her feelings about the scene before her are two-fold: on the one hand, she can understand the reverence with which this ruler is being treated, if he is the symbol of control and order to this land. On the other... the sharp sting of uncovering the secrets that monarchs can be hiding in plain sight, of being betrayed by someone she had sworn fealty to still burns on her face. So she takes in the paintings with a grain of salt, looking down her short nose at the young girl near her. ]

Chk. I do not believe any magic is "evil." All magic is simply a weapon to be used and manipulated, same as a sword.

[ There's nothing moral about it, only the morality of the person wielding it. Her sharp gaze cuts in to the painting of the Emperor and the owl-like beast, squinting. ]

Whether or not the Emperor is a savior depends only on the person. And you seem to have already made up your mind.

Call me Lae'zel.

[ She introduces herself smoothly, but only after the young girl confirms that she knows of Hunter. Had she not, she might've said that her identity was none of her business, or simply gone about going forward alone. Now that she knows this tidbit, though, this Luz is a worthwhile companion to keep around. ]

I know of Hunter, if you speak of a boy with flaxen hair, and a crimson bird adorning his staff. [ Carefully, she drags her gaze away from the painting to watch for signs of recognition, since 'Golden Guard' is certainly not a familiar term. ] Fast, quick with a spell and quicker still in the air — with the nerve to stare a dragon in the eye.

[ To Lae'zel, these are not compliments, but objective observations to further describe him, no matter how dramatically she relays them. Her expression stays firm and serious, clearly meaning each word. ]

I've not seen him here, if that's what you're asking, human. Nor do I know him as a guard.
