[ Fern is indeed younger than she is, by almost a decade, and looks to be around nine years old. Yet age doesn't seem to be a factor in this cutthroat environment, and as ever she is hard-working and devoted to her studies - to a fault.

All to say, fear was something she had shaken off soon after entering the maze and encountering its many dangers; it didn't take long for all of that studying and training to shine through, to guide her feet and hands, especially when given such an important task. She must, absolutely must get her staff back; it was a precious gift from the person who saved her life.

And to that end... she lowers her own hood. Her voice is even softer, at this age. ]

It will be easier if we work together...

[ no, age isn't a factor at all. she'll instinctively know that the other scouts, even though so many of them are older, and adults, even, would throw her and this child under the bus in an instant. she needs to prove herself. ]

He’s right to be wary, she thinks. Still, her teacher had taught her to work with others when she can. They’re both comparatively young, here, and at a disadvantage… They each would fare better if they work together, wouldn’t they?

Still, there’s a strange, subdued nature about her even when he proverbially bites back, her expression barely changing. Like she can hardly feel a thing. ]

Because nobody else here expects scouts to work together. Isn’t that right…? Wouldn’t it be beneficial for us to work together and catch them all by surprise?
