SPA FACILITY GRAND OPENING

One morning, everyone wakes to a message bearing the title above. Turns out, the area near the greenhouse that has been cordoned off since the Outsiders returned to base was converted to a spa facility! While this was planned before their return from the latest mission as a show of appreciation for everyone's hard work, LILITH hopes, given recent circumstances, that the facility will help Outsiders relax and unwind from their stress. It is open indefinitely and free to use by those on base!

▶ LOUNGE

The entrance leads to a short, undecorated hallway that opens up to a small foyer. It is simple, pristine, and decorated with only a spotting of greenery and a large painting of a beach that replaces what should have been the location of the receptionist's desk. To each side of the painting is an open pathway, half covered by a panel of fabric overhanging the entrance. The pattern is plain, and likely meant to be soothing in appearance.

A pop-up appears in the ocular the moment one steps foot into the area. A generic welcome message, with descriptions of the facilities offered and how to navigate through the area. There are even recommended programs for someone who wants a specific experience! How generous.

Both doors lead behind the foyer into a lounge area just as simple as the room previous. It is plain, decorated in calming blues and a creamy off-white colour. There are a few plants here and there (which may be fake, upon closer inspection), and more landscape paintings hung around the area. Across the room, there are doors to change rooms (though there are no change of clothes within, because the Style Change Upgrade will provide them plain spa robes to be used in the facility.) To the left is a wide space leading to a massage parlor and a nail salon, and to the right is the door leading to the saunas, both dry and wet, and a public bath, obscured partially by a piece of fabric draped over the top half of the doorway.

The only refreshments provided seem to be a single synthetic milk vending machine standing next to the entrance to the baths, branded with the name GYUNEW. The milk comes in different flavours: chocolate, strawberry, banana, some seasonal flavours like pumpkin spice, quirky ones like cotton candy milk, and a flavour that is simply labeled "white". There's no explanation for this flavour. Anyone trying it will find it's creamy and sweet like milk but also somehow manages to taste like every other milk alternative without committing to a single flavor. It also never expires. Strange.

▶ SAUNA

The pathway to the sauna splits into three: one for a wet sauna on the left, and the dry sauna to the right. A third path down the middle leads to the supplies and furnaces for the saunas, because neither run on electricity, and require stones, fire (and water for the wet sauna). An ocular pop-up will list the benefits of each type of sauna, allowing you to make the best choice for your own health, as well as provide instructions on how to operate them and optimize the experience for your physiological needs.

Both saunas are rooms lined with wooden slats, and with multiple levels of seating available, seating ten people at most. At the corner of the rooms is a small tub of rocks heated by fire from a furnace accessible through the middle path. A wooden bucket is available to bring water into the wet sauna, to be poured onto the stones to provide the moisture for the sauna.

▶ PUBLIC BATH

Though the area is fully enclosed, attempts have been made to decorate the baths with natural elements, such as stones bordering the pools, bamboo water spouts, wooden slats lining the walls and windows that open up to a yard abundant with greenery, appropriately fenced off so no one can peek into the baths from the greenhouse area. The public baths are segregated by gender, a thick wooden fence dividing the two sides of the room so that communication is still possible, but view of the other side is obscured.

Each side features an area with stools, mirrors and seated showers that one can use to thoroughly rinse their bodies before entering the bath. Like the showers in the locker room, no soaps and shampoos are provided. However, fluffy, luxurious towels are stocked just outside the bathing area for use along with a hamper for their disposal, and the baths themselves seem to be on a biweekly rotation of additives, from scents like lavender and yuzu to herbal additions like mugwort or green tea, with one day each week free of any additives.

For those who prefer private bathing sessions, there are smaller rooms that can be reserved ahead of time using the ocular implant.

▶ MASSAGE PARLOR

The massage parlor is a room with ten massage beds, staffed by two robot massage therapists. It is a dimmed area with warm lighting and a diffuser spreading a calming scent throughout the area. Plenty of plants and landscape paintings decorate the area to provide a calming atmosphere. Each bed can be separated by a curtain for privacy.

Upon entry into the room, an ocular pop-up will appear asking you to select the type of massage preferred, if you need no robot assistance, or if you'd like a lesson in performing massages. It also offers a selection of specialty massage oils and aromatic blends which clients can choose based on their desired therapeutic effects.

For those receiving a massage from robotic massage therapists, the massage can be personalized through a digital touchpad at each bed. This touchpad allows clients to adjust the intensity and focus of the massage, select soothing soundscapes, and even set the area's ambient lighting to their preference.

For those who prefer even greater privacy, rooms are available for up to two people to receive a massage together. Perfect for couples!

▶ NAIL SALON

The nail salon is decorated similarly to the massage parlor, but there are no robot attendants staffing the area. Instead, an ocular pop-up will indicate that the salon is entirely unmanned, so it is up to Outsiders to provide manicures and pedicures to their fellow colleagues! All the appropriate stations and supplies have been provided, so the only limit is imagination!

The parlor is stocked with a wide array of high-tech nail polishes that change color based on temperature or mood, as well as glittering holographic powders and futuristic gel finishes that provide a dazzling array of effects including personal advertisements and minor cosmetic effects. Some examples of cosmetic effects include the temperature/mood-changing colors that can be as extreme or subtle as desired; the holographic depiction of shifting patterns or scenes, such as starry galaxies or futuristic cityscapes; or interactive haptic feedback, using embedded micro-sensors to simulate various sensations, such as a gentle vibrating pulse that matches a rhythm, or a mild tingle that responds to touch.

LILITH would like to remind you to avoid applying nails that become an impediment during kaiju missions.

[ Because Tezcatlipoca certainly does.

That is, when you open the door to the wet sauna, you might be expecting it to be warm and humid, sure, but the absolute blast of it that comes out is probably a little unexpected… He moves once the door is opened, but you can still catch a glimpse of Tezcatlipoca with his head set back on a little pillow of a towel, looking supremely content and relaxed. Sure, it’s been a hot summer in Japan so far, but it’s not exactly a place that resembles the jungles he’s familiar with. At least here he can zone out and forget the surroundings.

As such, when the door opens, he lifts his head to see who it is, and if you gawk too long: ]

You comin’ in or not? You’re lettin’ out the heat.

[ But honestly, Tezcatlipoca’s first stop is the nail salon. Anyone that’s met him has probably noticed that he’s seemingly particular about his nails, always keeping them painted and well-manicured. Generally, they’re just a nice, stylish black, but sometimes he switches it up (like red at the gala). So, he’s appreciative of a quicker, free option! But that unmanned part is a slight issue… ]

[ On one hand, you have kind souls that volunteer for doing the work, and Tezcatlipoca is a pretty happy volunteer for your services. After all, worst comes to worst? He can just take it off and do it himself. But it really is a pain in the ass to do your own nails…

Since you’ve been designated Nail Technician, though, he looks through the colors on offer as well as some of the… stranger options. ]

…I was just gonna go for black again, but dunno. Probably should try somethin’ new, what with all this modern stuff.

[ On the other, out of little more than a whim, he decides, sure. Why the hell not. He can’t do anything fancy (and doesn’t have much interest to learn), but if you want basic nail care and color, Tezcatlipoca has got you. As he’s holding your hand and carefully filing away to smooth it down, he'll at least strike up a conversation. ]

So, you go to that gala the other day? Was some real shit.

[ The usual! Hit me with another option. Tezcatlipoca will partake in any of the spa's offerings, so feel free to run into him at any. It's time for 💗self-care💗 ]

🥛 1. LOUNGE

[It's tough to say whether or not the sudden appearance of a spa is LILITH's way of apologizing to for their rather cruel treatment to the Outsiders or simply a way of making sure they're at the top of their game come the next battle, but either way, Yato will take it. He hasn't been inside a spa in literal ages, so he plans on taking full advantage of everything on offer.

Yet one of the drinks in the machines is curious enough to give him pause, eyeing it suspiciously like he did those neon energy drinks. Food should be labelled appropriately in his book, and what they've got going on here doesn't cut it. Frowning, he glances to the nearest person and points at the bottle in question.]

What the hell do you think it means by "white?"

🛁 2. PUBLIC BATH

[At some point on the guy's side of the bath, anybody going looking for a stool will be sorely disappointed as it seems they've all disappeared from the area. Some...how...

It soon becomes obvious where they've walked off to: outside by the dividing fence, stacked one upon the other, is a towering... tower of stools with a certain god perched at the very tippy top so he can just barely peer over into the ladies' side. While it might look like he's snooping (and to be fair, that IS what he's doing) it's not for the obvious reason one might think. It's his godly duty to ensure that his human remains safe, and given she has a history of fainting, he's just worried, okay! Doesn't stop him from looking like a pervert, though, muttering to himself like he is.]

Ooh, hey, she's got nice ones, too. Huh...

✋ 3. MASSAGE PARLOR

[Eclectic skill collector that Yato is, it may not come as too much of a surprise to find him taking a lesson in performing massages. Or maybe it will be, given what a glutton for relaxation he himself seems to be. All the same, he looks at his customer with way too much excitement in his expression as he cracks his knuckles and wiggles his fingers ominously.]

Lucky you! You're my first customer! Are ya ready to have all the tension drained from you by my godly techniques?

[He'll be sure to collect payment after.]

💅 4. NAIL SALON

[As if Yato couldn't get enough of the spa by now, he's moved on to the nail department, where he's set up shop doing other Outsiders' manicures and pedicures. He's even decorated a variety of fake nails in an array of nature-themed designs that are shockingly detailed and delicate? One could be forgiven for thinking this is his main job (and perhaps it should be) given how much fun he seems to be having as he beams at the person who's chosen his station.]

Can you believe all the different specialty polishes they have? There's even ones that vibrate. Crazy, isn't it?

[ A spa…! How lovely. Sigewinne won't be among the first to visit given how busy she is with her LILITH and civilian work, but it's definitely high on her list of priorities for when she finds the time. And when she does! There's no way she's showing up empty-handed. ]

▶ PROSPERITY.

If you're coming out of the baths, now's the best time to put on a face mask. [ A little plastic container sits atop her palm, its contents a lilac purple. ] What do you think? Your skin will thank you when you're done.

[ Looks innocent enough, right? Right. Unlike her cooking, her skincare products are objectively safe, in every sense of the word. ]

▶ DESOLATION.

[ Alternatively… She sees your character sipping on synthetic milk and decides to amble on over, holding a tin of cookies with both hands. ]

Would you like one? Despite their appearance, they're actually quite nutritious. Hehe… it's all thanks to LILITH that I've managed to create something so beneficial while still keeping it tasty. They're the perfect accompaniment to milk, I promise!

[ Does she… for the record, it'll taste like the sawdust ration bars except Worse. Sour and bitter sawdust… yum… ]

[ After she runs out of her facemask product, her new haunt: the nail salon. Sitting behind one of the nail stations and kicking her feet as she browses the various options, she'll immediately stop and look up to wave you over the moment she hears the steps of someone approaching, encouraging them to come closer. ]

Will you let me do your nails for you? [ Eyes bright, she clasps her hands together. Pretty please? ] I have just the idea for someone as adorable as you are.

[ No matter how old or young you look, you're getting called adorable—no ifs or buts. ]

[Dan Heng is not unaccustomed to public baths. It's just been a long time since he's used one. The fact that an entire spa just...appeared in the base is. Interesting. Might as well, right?

He rinses off, but enters the bath itself with a towel tied around his waist, still a bit shy about modesty.

....the warmth is nice. He gets cold way too easily, and this chases any chill away, as well as easing the aches and pains from the constant training. And the scents are unexpected but relaxing.

......perhaps a bit too relaxing. Dan Heng is dozing in the water within moments. He's still sitting up, but. He is. Definitely submerged except for his horns. His cloudhymn will keep him from drowning but it's not like everyone knows that. Also being in hot water for too long might be perhaps a problem? This is one way to find out, supposedly.]

[perhaps you are here for a quick rinse! perhaps you are here for a nice long, warm, relaxing soak. whatever the reason. . . as you approach the bath, you see. . . bubbles? rising up from the depths? hm. is that a dark figure lurking underneath the water, too?]
