[open] take me to the beach!
WHO: Lucy/Nyuu, varied
WHAT: Swimming! Fishing! Making little huts! Whatever you'd do at the beach!
WHERE: Okinawa
WHEN: December 2078-January 2079
WARNINGS: none to start with but will update as needed
[ Okinawa's coral reefs are a sight to behold! So she's read, and Lucy's all too eager to use her new Ocean Gem to go and see them. All the benefit of scuba gear but with none of the oxygen dependence. And all she has to do is deal with some irritatingly uncomfortable mermaid transformation? Virtually no down side!
Still, she stares at her gem with some grumbling before pressing it to her chest. ]
I hate this transformation...it's so itchy.
[ If there's one thing Lucy's come to enjoy during her time at Okinawa, it's fishing. Sure, the mutant fish are a bit shocking at first, but they're safe enough to eat and the act of tossing a line out into the water is relaxing in a way the hobbies of the city can't replicate. She has lots of time alone with her thoughts at the pier.
If you happen upon her, she gives a small grunt of acknowledgement and nods her head toward the extra fishing pole nearby. ]
Sit. You look like you could use a distraction.
[ A decent ways away from the shore, Lucy's busily trying to make a simple hut to sleep in when night falls. She keeps pausing to look over her supplies before returning to hammer wood from nearby trees into a hut with a triangular roof frame. It's the best way for rain to just slough off, she's read. Still, it'll take some time to complete when it's just her.
She's sitting on a cushion to overlook her work come noon, and she's grumbling to herself at how slipshod it looks. Nevermind that the roof thatching isn't on and thus it doesn't look right anyway. Still, she wonders if her architectural skills will be enough to make this thing survive a single storm.
Also sorry to anyone beefing with Godzilla right now, but you're just gonna have to deal with the fact that her wannabe shack is within walking distance of his shelter. It's objectively the safest place for her house to be. ]
[ ooc: I made this log for Lucy but anyone is free to use it for Okinawa shenanigans! ]

When he approaches, quietly as ever, he holds up his own pole, tacklebox and bucket to indicate that he's already well equipped. He makes sure to set everything down with as little noise as possible too, taking a seat next to Kaede in a manner as to not scare of any nearby fish.]
Catch anything yet?
no subject
A couple small fry. Nothing worth eating yet. [ She gestures with one hand toward the space he'll be fishing from before turning her attention back to her own line. ] Catch something good so we can have a good lunch.
[ Sure, it might be a bit rude to put the onus on him to catch a good fish, but she has every intention of sharing whatever she catches too. With how big the fish get in these waters, she couldn't eat a whole one by herself anyway. ]
If you're thirsty, I've got water and other drinks in that cooler there.
no subject
[He's got a lot of fishing experience, but so much of it is having the patience and the luck to have the right fish come swimming along. He sets to picking out some bait, and readying the hook before casting his line.]
Been spending your "time off" here mostly?
[It's only time off as long as a kaiju doesn't attack, as far as he's concerned. And there are much worse ways to spend winter than this. Even though he's more of a fan of winter than summer, it's nice to have the climate of Okinawa to break up the cold and gray of Neo Tokyo right now.
He'll also pop open that cooler to see what's available.]
Shall I grab you something?
no subject
But yeah, I like spending my time out here. It's away from the city, I can think without any noise butting in.
[ Really, the only thing that beats this is painting, but fishing lets her relax significantly more so. ]
a
The big guy is busy stretching out to get ready, giving Lucy a curious glance as he pops something in his shoulder. ]
Transformation? Have you engaged LILITH for the shape-change surgery as well, Little Titan?
no subject
Agreed. I'm not fond of the heat, but a break from the cold is always welcome. And it's so quiet. During the day, anyway. At night, you can hear all the insects and toads in the distance.
[It's a wonderful sound, reminiscent of nights back home in the mountains for him.
He casts his line with a quiet, relaxing sigh.]
I've definitely needed more getaway time like this, anyway.
no subject
No, just this thing.
[ She points to the gem on her chest. It's already melding with the flesh of her chest and reddish-hued scales start to spread out over her visible skin. ]
no subject
You do. Shocked you don't have gray sideburns by now.
no subject
Ah... the oceanic enhancement LILITH offers. A confession, this comes as a surprise.
[ He hums thoughtfully as he starts into the water to join her, head tilting to the opposite side. Even in a human body he's still so cat coded sometimes. ]
I have not thought you one to be willing to submit to their procedures.
no subject
I know, I know. "Take more breaks". I'm trying. Does this count?
[Technically it's work, but it's one chore he looks forward to doing.]
I'm not the only one, though. How've you been?
[Asked with a hint of concern in that flat tone. He knows about Elan, who was supposed to come fishing with him too, but was gone when Raidou went to check on where he was.]
no subject
[ Once she's in the water, she strips off the suit she's wearing so the cloth won't get weirdly fused with her body. Just in time too, as she pitches forward and faceplants right into the water as her legs suddenly fuse together into a long, red-hued fishtail. A flurry of bubbles rise up from the water before she finally turns her face skyward and growls. ]
Why did that form before the gills?!
no subject
Hmm... [ She shrugs one shoulder and checks her line again. The float still bobs on the water. No bites. ]
I've been worse.
no subject
But without anything left to the imagination...? He forgets to blink for a bit there. She really is worthy of being considered a Titan, only Titans hold such perfection in form, such gra-- and there she goes face first into the water. Shit.
Godzilla's already by her side when she manages to get her head up, concern on his face giving way to amusement as he lets out a chuckle. ]
The technology provided by LILITH remains dependable as ever, yes?
[ Sarcasm from the lizard. Great.
What's also great is without asking if she needs help Godzilla just kinda... Scoops her up?! Not really sweeping her off her feet since she doesn't have those anymore, but picking her up in a princess carry all the same while giving her a grin. ]
It is of little concern, however. I shall convey you further into the waters. Though a confession, this is not the form of fish I thought to be holding today.
[ He thinks he's funny. Mothra help us all. ]
no subject
[He doesn't want to pry too much, but he's concerned. Raidou casts his line with practiced ease, and adjusts his baseball cap to block the sun.]
But that doesn't sound "good" either.
[His eyes follow his line, waiting hopefully for a bite.]
I'm willing to listen. If you ever need it. I'm told I'm good at that. Better than talking, anyway.
no subject
[ She laughs, but the sound is focused, uneasy. ]
I don't really know how to put those feelings into words, so you might be waiting in silence a while.
no subject
[They could be here awhile, depending on how many bites they get.]
... I've been lucky to have a few here willing to hear me out when needed. Least I can do is offer the same to others in return.
no subject
Maybe she should start with something general. Something vague enough that she can get away with keeping it as far from her details as possible.
It's with another muddled hum that she scratches her cheek and reels her line in a little. Just enough to wriggle the bait at the end of the line. ]
Do you think ghosts are real?
no subject
Oh, you think you're soooo funny...
[ But she doesn't do much more to retaliate other than harrumph and get more comfortable in his grasp. ]
At least it's working, I guess.
cw; body horror
Indeed. I am possessing quite an amount of the quality of humor.
[ He knows she's being sarcastic, but he also knows the best counter is to play along with it.
With them in deep enough water for Lucy to get along on her own without issue, he proceeds to bend to gently lower her into the water. Once she's freed up he starts to set his own implant into work, gills forming into existence along his neck and his skin beginning to grow gray and bumpy with scales.
He pauses before he continues, scratching at the spot behind his ear that he favors sheepishly. ]
Ah. Apologies, Kaede-hime. I am given to the understanding that this becomes... unpleasant to witness.
[ And what does he mean by unpleasant? Well.
Warning given his bones begin to lengthen and thicken, a symphony of cracks and pops filling the air. His hands enlarge, fingers becoming tipped with claws, as he goes down to a knee with a grunt of discomfort. The grunt shifts steadily into a growl as his jaws elongate and head shifts into its usual shape. The water behind him displaces in a splash as his tail grows out and flicks through the air in agitation.
After the world's scaliest rendition of American Werewolf in London, Godzilla stands up as his usual lizardy self. The big guy's tongue flicks out as if trying to rid himself of some unpleasant taste, whilst he rolls his shoulders and stretches out his back. More sounds of bones popping are the result of that, louder now thanks to being at their usual Godzillay thickness. ]
Bah. There is doubt I shall ever grow accustomed to that sensation.
no subject
I know ghosts are real.
[Someday, if he gets his demons back, he'll be glad to introducer her to some.]
Why do you ask?
no subject
Rather than answer his question, though, she takes a drink from the wine bottle next to her, then asks: ]
What would you do if you were haunted by a ghost? Or several?
no subject
Usually there's a reason for it, from the ghost's perspective. I would speak with it, and try to solve its issues. Someone haunted by several isn't unheard of, but it's a little rare. That person might be a summoner or onmyouji in the making without even knowing it.
[A nexus of power that attracts spirits, who try to get the living person's attention.]
I know not everyone can speak with spirits, so your best course of action would be to find someone who can.
no subject
Can you tell if they're around a person? See them, or something?
no subject
[He sighs lightly, which is a big sign of disappointed out of this guy.]
I have yet to run into any I can even sense, let alone talk to. I don't think it's that this world lacks in it. I think I just come from somewhere too different.
no subject
Alright. Play it cool. She just has to make herself sound as flippant as usual and... ]
That's a shame. Here I was hoping we could actually find Sugisawa Village.
no subject
Lucy pops her head out of the water to look at him, ear fins flapping off excess water. ]
Is it itchy for you too?
well i had to look that one up lol
So you've encountered something here you thought was a ghost?
[Just because he hasn't sensed any, doesn't mean there aren't any.]
... Afraid I'm not familiar with it?
it's some creepy stuff ain't it
Nah.
[ Damn. The fish got away while she wasn't paying attention. The bait's completely gone. ]
Just wondering if all those ghost hunting internet videos were on to something.
no subject
"Itchy"...? [ A moment to consider that question, then a huff of smoke. ] Indeed, that is the word for the sensation. An unpleasant crawl across the surface and under surface of my being. It is vexing.
[ With an annoyed grumble he goes to step further into the water to join her... and pauses, head tilting to the side as he fully takes in her transformation.
She's always been a good looking humanoid, no one can argue that, but there's something about this. Grousing as she is does she seem almost more at ease in the water, or is it that the freedom of movement has brightened her mood to the point it reflects to her outerself? ]
Ah. Your scales are lustrous as your hair. A good reflection of one's health, yes?
[ That has got to be the most awkward compliment of all time... ]
