It's the specific types of weapons upgrades, I'd imagine. Things like chainsaws or boosters that help you jump for meters and meters. Hard to do that with just nanobots is my guess.
I'm not aware, but it's probably a good idea. Most of the kaiju have been quite large, yes. Powerful no matter the size. Any extra firepower against them would be great. I'm afraid the only weapons I am an expert in are the katana and the pistol, so I wouldn't be much help there.
