[ Raidou finds himself thrust into a scene of absolute chaos. The ocean itself seems to be on fire, the sky is screaming, and the world shakes with the thunder of cannons. He's standing aboard one of these vessels, a proud wooden decked aircraft carrier. Who's guns chatter to fend off enemy planes even as her own take off to join the fight.
Nobody seems to notice him in all the chaos, not even the ship herself, but here's the thing. He can feel what the ship is feeling. The ocean parting before her bow, the sensation of the planes' wheels leaving the decking, and what's more? The fear. Not the ship's fear but the fear of the men who crew her, mixed with zealotry senses of duty. Far ahead in the sky there's a sudden flash of fire as one of the Kaga's zeroes goes up in flame, there's a spike in that fearful feeling alongside burning pain, then it's gone. Not the first time, it won't be the last. ]
June fourth, nineteen forty-two. Almost feels like it was yesterday.
[ The voice comes from behind Raidou. It's Kaga. She stands there whole, her crossed arms are both organic in nature, not a single sign of the injuries she received in Brasov on her body. She's watching the battle ahead of them
There's a whistling noise, a crash of a shell landing near the ship, metal on metal as shrapnel bounces off the hull. Kaga hisses in pain from that, clutching her side, then shakes her head. ]
But this isn't right. You weren't here. I wasn't either. [ Her ears pin flat against her head as she looks off to the side of where they stand on the flight deck, considering the metal tower of the ship's bridge. ] Well... not like this at least.
