It's a relief that after exploring some of the busiest parts of the city, Jinwoo finally ends up in a quieter area. When he passes the boutiques or the cafes, they seem somewhat familiar, even if he can spot the differences easily—the holograms and the robots remind him that this isn't the Earth he knows.
While that isn't a part of his plan, he stops by the flower shop after seeing the designer white lilies and some other enhanced plants. Jinwoo takes a while to look around before noticing the display in the back with the flowers that look less appealing compared to the artificial ones he's seen just a moment before. ]
Me? I'm just looking. [ Currently, he sure is staring at the bouquet Tsuru is working on. ] Those are real flowers, right?
[ There's something strange about this florist and his aura, but he can't really pinpoint what it is. ]
How much for a bouquet just like this one?
[ White flowers remind him of someone he's met at the main base, so maybe it would be a nice gift. ]
no subject
(This pleases him and he smiles. Lifting his hands from his work, he shows off what he's done so far. It's a nice bouquet, each flower carefully arranged to make the whole thing come together. When hears that Jinwoo is interested he replies naturally,)
100,000 kryptos.
(Almost 700 dollars. This is it. This is the special deal.)
no subject
...
[ After considering his options for a while, Jinwoo finally asks: ]
What about one flower?
no subject
10,000.
(And he. Just. Smiles! He's pratically sparkling... and then he looks down at the counter, acts like he's just noticed something and looks surprise,)
Oops. It looks like I added some zeroes.
(The entire thing is expensive but not that expensive. )
no subject
[ Is this why there aren't many people around? The florist casually adding zeroes to the prices might be terrible for a business. ]
So the final price for one flower is 1,000 kryptos?
no subject
(He just laughs at himself,)
It depends on the flower but most of these are more expensive than the ones up front. They don't look as nice, either.
no subject
[ It's really impressive that they have the technology to persevere flowers, but it also feels like people in this world are missing the point. ]
I have 10,000 kryptos on me. Can I get a small bouquet for that price?
no subject
(He holds out his hand with the wrist implant,)
Consider it... an early bird sale.
no subject
325 kryptos? Aren't you missing one zero here?
[ That's a good deal, but he needs to make sure. Jinwoo doesn't want Tsuru to get in trouble because of lowering the price too much by accident. ]
no subject
(That's it.)
And I'm feeling hungry.
(325 kryptos is enough to by a nice parfait from the convenience store.)
no subject
I think you're very hungry. [ That's all he has to say on the matter. There's no way he can leave the flower shop without making sure he pays enough. ] You are one of the Outsiders, right? Your powers...
[ Something about Tsuru's aura is different, but he can't really pinpoint what it is. Also it might be a bit reckless to ask directly, but it's not like anyone is around, so maybe it'll be fine. ]
no subject
... I'm not from here.
(And innocent enough answer but if Jinwoo knows then he'll understand it's plenty confirmation.)
Are you also from out of town? This area is very nice, you know. It's quiet and there aren't as many people around. It's a nice place to relax.
no subject
Out of town? [ It takes a while until it clicks. ] Ah, yes. I guess.
[ Did it really click, though... ]
I might drop by more often. Are we... supposed to do jobs?
[ Guess who's new and unemployed. ]
no subject
(But most of them seem to have jobs that actually help society. Medical work or keeping things safe.)
As for me... I was just bored.
(And he wanted to get away for a bit.)
no subject
[ Why does he sound disappointed? Because he is. He didn't have to work back home because he was a hunter who made money in dungeons. ]
How did you land this job in the first place?
no subject
(Didn't he just get here?)
How? It was assigned to me along with... another name.
no subject
Assigned? [ Oh. ] Does it mean that I... ?
[ He should be working right now??? ]
no subject
(Ooooh he knows that look and he's pouncing on it like a tiger,)
You've probably been fired already.
(PROBABLY NOT... these jobs seem to be pretty laid back???)
no subject
[ Time to accept the fact that he's jobless. Too bad that he doesn't even know what the job was... oh well. ]
Have you seen any funeral parlors around here?
[ THAT... sure is a question. ]
no subject
Do you have plans?
(Why...)
no subject
[ Tsuru... what did you think about... ]
no subject
(Working with death requires respect.)
no subject
[ Trying to revive dead people probably counts as bothering... not that he can do it after the nerf in the first place, but he still wants to try and make sure. ]
no subject
I'm the only one allowed to get funny ideas here.
no subject
[ Should he explain that the 'fun' in 'funeral parlor' doesn't stand for anything funny or...? ]
I'll try to get my old job back, then. Wait, I should be able to check it with that ocular thing.
[ He keeps forgetting about the technology, oops. ]
