She quiets down as she watches him and takes in every word. As Ryoji's attention falls to Claw-chan in his lap, he seems to drift off elsewhere in his thoughts, his smile muted and fond.
A garden of color. Ryoji speaks like a poet sometimes, and Marcille has slowly pieced together his sincerity behind his every word, even when he's flirting. This, though, seems like it runs deeper. Sunny Ryoji is more somber now.
Her own gaze softens. She sets the topic of Meowser aside for now. This relationship, like all others, is fascinating to her—but more importantly, this seems like something she'd like to know as Ryoji's friend. ]
I wasn't able to meet him, but I think I get what you mean. [ She nods. ] Some people just communicate differently, and it takes time to learn their language, right?
[ She softens her voice a little, looking back at Ryoji's hand on Claw-chan, who seems perfectly content. She can hear those purrs. ]
I'm sorry he left. It sounds like he was important to you.

It’s why Ryoji also seems to perk up when given the chance to speak about Minato further, even when it’s couched in the context of his disappearance. He’s doing his best to reflect fondly on it, without any remorse. After all, even given a sliver of additional time together meant the world to him, and it was more than he could have dreamed of. ]
He was. Put simply…meeting him is what made me who I am.
[ In a figurative sense, but also a very literal one. Pressing his palm against the back of Claw-chan’s neck, he soaks up each of those purrs in his fingers. There’s really nothing more soothing, is there? ]
You know, I thought about putting an appeal in to LILITH, to impress upon them just how remiss they were to send him home already. That would be selfish, though, wouldn’t it? To ask them to bring him back, just for my own sake.
[ No doubt Minato would be a valuable asset in the fight against the kaiju too, but that’s not why Ryoji would ask. Not really. ]

She tips her head toward her shoulder, studying Ryoji's expression, looking for any suggestions of pain. ]
Ryoji...
[ He misses Minato that much—enough to ask LILITH to draw him back into this post-apocalyptic, dangerous place, with its monsters and mayhem and invasive technologies. Yes, it's entirely selfish, but Marcille has her own history with selfishness. Hadn't she done something similar? Bringing a person back to you and disregarding the consequences? Without that person's consent?
She lowers her eyes to the cat in his lap. She has no right to judge him on this. ]
Maybe, but I think I understand. [ Quietly. She meets his eye again. ] You wouldn't ask to go home to him instead? Is it because you think LILITH will deny it?
