(Wow maybe they could just fly through the base instead... though, the ceilings are a little low to really fly, aren't they? They'd really only just be able to hover...)

Oh, I have those boots too.

(But he isn't wearing them now.)

But that's good! We can put them somewhere high for everyone to see...

(And no sooner does he say it than he comes up with an idea,)

How about the garden?

(It's on top of the base, it's a big open area, and people like to go up there to hang out.)

Why not? It'll add some color to the place. Apart from the neons and grays.

[When they enter the elevator, Taryon presses the button taking them to the top floor and leans into the corner of the space.]

I've seen poles around the edge of the railing. Do we put a few fish on each? What's the usual way?

(Oh... he smiles. He really can't help but smile. He's totally pleased, he has to speak up,)

That's a good question!

(Genuinely, and he's happy to answer. Showing of the box a bit,)

The black one is the father. When we hang it, you'll see it's the biggest. After that, you're supposed to hang all of the children up... but I heard these days, there's another big fish to be the mother.

(He hasn't seen it for himself. This will be his first year celebrating it the new way.)

You do need more than one parent to have a kid. Unless they're adopted. But that's not the case most of the time? Anyway. [He stops before he embarrasses himself.] We should have one fish for each of the kids here. It's the right way.

[He thinks of the teens he knows...Yuji, Megumi, Kaworu, Raidou... Hm, he ought to check with everyone to make sure.]

We'll get to that later. [The elevator opens to reveal the rooftop garden. It's too late to turn back when they're already here.]

It is enough.

(It only needs to happen once to be enough and Tsurumaru smiles.)

Why stress? I think it'll look more impressive with all of them flying.

(And when you're as old as Tsurumaru is, most people are like children to him. Might as well hang all of them for everyone.)

[There's quite a few...Taryon will have to be quick with his Fly spell.

He shrugs.] Alright. Let's see... [He sets the box on the ground and pulls out several fish. There's a large red one - he figures that's the mother - and several small ones that he hands over a bench.]

[cranekin]

(He'll also get to work, helping to unravel some of the fish and get them looking... somewhat presentable.)

You really don't have any festivals or celebrations like this where you're from?

Not with fish, or specifically about children.

[He scoops up the remaining streamers in his arms and drops them on the bench before unraveling them.]

We have birthdays and holidays, and lots of our festivals involve giving stuff to kids. Usually it's parents doing that, but I saw some street sellers give candy out when I was out of the house. But it's a great idea. Now you know where all the kids are in town.

[cranekin]

(Huh, this holiday is so old, he can't imagine a world without it. It's foreign to him and he only nods along, understanding and taking little notes to himself,)

This one is one of my favorite days.

(Looking over,)

(Holiday. Festival. Whichever he may want to share.)

[Taryon has to think - his family wasn't one for celebrations, and if they were celebrating with the rest of town, his father focused on inviting local lords and wealthy businessmen to the manor for formal gatherings. As a child, Taryon and his sister were left alone to play or paraded as a precious possession of the lord of the estate. In Whitestone, he learned of the Winter's Crest holiday, which he finds most similar to this world's Christmas.

He should stick with a Wildemountian holiday.]

The New Year festival. Before that is a solemn winter holiday, but that's the one night where my father would hire musicians, and let us eat whatever we wanted, and I got presents. Even though I didn't have any friends, I still had fun there.

[He pulls out the blue koi.] This one's ready.

[cranekin]

Ah, me too!

(He lights up at the mention of new year. Children's Day may be one of his favorites but if he had to choose an absolute favorite... yes, he thinks New Year might be his absolute favorite.

With a full set of koi ready to go... he comes over and sort of motions with his hand to show how they should be. Motioning horizontally,)

This way would be easier... so it doesn't matter which order we place them. But let's try to alternate so each one can shine.

(It'll look more impressive if they separate the colors.)

It's the one holiday we all can celebrate.

[He takes the large blue one in his arms and wanders towards the railing of the roof.] Parents first. Um. [He leans over and notices just how far the ground is.] Do you want a Fly spell ready, just in case?

[Taryon reaches into his pocket and pulls out an engraved piece of metal fashioned like a coin.] That's a bit of a drop.

[cranekin]

(Stop... he lights up,)

I'll get to fly too?!

(Because yeah, he's aerodynamic. He can do some pretty impressive jumps and tricks... but flying?! PLEASE.)

For a few minutes. [He flips the coin with his thumb and catches it.]

We can get some of them up with the boots, I think. But it's safer this way.

[cranekin]

(He's throwing his hands in the air... and a couple of fish streamers, too.)

Amazing! How long will it last?!

[likemybooks]

10 minutes. [He holds it out while small koi streamers fall around him as if celebrating his offer of flight.] Just call forth the spell when you need it.

[cranekin]

(Reaching out for the coin...)

Just think about it, you mean?

(Like, does he need to think about happy thoughts or birds or.... just flying?)

You can always yell out "Fly!". That usually does the trick.

[A koi streamer falls over Taryon's head. He grabs it and tucks it under his arm.]

I'll cast it on myself. 10 minutes for all this, alright?

[cranekin]

(Only ten minutes? He thinks about it... it feels so short but--)

It's enough.

(And he holds it in his fist and yells out,)

Fly!

(And I guess he will just take off with some streamers.)

[Taryon takes a handful of streamers and casts the spell on himself before leaping, floating over the floor for a few seconds, then following Tsurumaru. First the black on, then the blue, and then he works on attaching as many smaller koi streamers as possible.

Five minutes later, they're partially through the box of streamers.] We have to speed this up. We're not done!

[cranekin]

(Maybe they would have completed more if Tsurumaru wasn't so distracted. He's flying? He's flying! And while he seems to take to it naturally, he has to spend a good moment or two enjoying it. WHen you only have ten minutes, every minute counts.)

Eh? Already?!

(Nooo, he lost track of time.)

Hurry up, hurry up!

(He's trying his best...)

[Taryon zips back to the roof and collects every single streamer in his arms. One falls off the pile and onto the garden as he flies to Tsurumaru.]

Here! Quick! There are all of them left!

[He holds one out for the taking, then descends lower in an attempt to tie the koi onto the pole with one hand. It's rough when he has the added weight of the remaining fish to carry.]

[cranekin]

(He's trying to keep up but there really are too many for them to stream. There's unraveling them, untangling them, and ultimately, there's no real way to finish but that's fine, he thinks. As he begins to lower after typing one last set to a line.

He still has a pile in his hands but looking up... it's colorful, it's eye-catching, it's a change of scenery to a place that would otherwise look the same and isn't that good enough for now?)

Ah... we were so close.

[likemybooks]

[Taryon tries to tie the last one as the spell withers away, and he's left clinging onto the twine while he sinks to the ground. A loose string flutters in the wind by one child koi.

He picks up the streamers that were left over.]

Let's find someplace else to hang them. There's no rule we can't hang from from the roof garden fence, right?

[cranekin]

Anywhere is fine! As long as they're seen so people can enjoy them.

(Gathering up the last few and coming over to walk alongside him,)

The ones we managed to hang look impressive though, right?
