[ she is NOT telling him about her love life rn she still hasn't finalized it yet at this time. ]
You tried the portal technology they have here? I wonder if it's the same as... you know.
no subject
That's precisely the reason why I don't want to try it. You know the horror stories we've heard about those trains.
no subject
Someone I met here recently actually went out on his own, partly because of his experience as a navigator. LILITH personality sought him out and brought him back, then punished him by disabling his virtual wallet. [ wrinkles her nose. ] So that's out of the question.
no subject
[Yeah, he doesn't like that.]
I assume they tracked him down through the implants and whatnot. Wretched things.
no subject
[ and yet she sounds resigned by it. ]
Not much we can do about that. Let's just... try not to assume that it works like the Warp Trains. It'd be better for my sanity that way.
no subject
[fucking LILITH]
I wonder if we're going somewhere far...there's probably a lot outside this place we have no idea about.
no subject
[ still, shrugs. ]
I'm... kind of excited, though. Only because I've been here for almost six months. Aren't you?
no subject
[He drifts off a little.]
Not really. It's the same old bullshit, isn't it?
no subject
It is the same old bullshit, but in a whole new world. The bullshit might be slightly different this time.
[ ... ]
What... was your Office like?
no subject
[He never does!!]
[The question makes him go silent for a moment, before he speaks up, quiet, restrained.]
...It wasn't terribly large. We all...got along though, even through the worst of circumstances.
no subject
not that ishmael would point it out. mostly out of fear, but like.... theyre so used to said bullshit at this point. she already has a feeling on why he didn't stick w his previous office, but just to be sure: ]
What... happened to them?
no subject
...
[His eyes well up with a darkness that Dante has probably seen before, but is new to Ishmael. Something deep, and lonely.]
What do you think? They're dead.
no subject
it's like looking into a mirror, all those months ago. when she had locked herself in her room for months. ]
...Did you want to avenge them too? Like I did?
no subject
[Is he really one for revenge? He wouldn't think he is. But maybe that heat of anger he feels at the City is precisely that. Not one person, or a thing, or even an office or a Corp.]
[He would avenge them by tearing the whole thing down.]
[But, he will be a little honest with Ishmael here, his gaze turning away.]
...I didn't have a chance to think about it. Right after it happened. Faust found me. I threw myself into Limbus Company.
no subject
Faust sure knows how to pick them. Or rather, when to pick 'em.
[ because she and the bus would arrive at the point where the sinners were at their lowest, when they had no choice but to join limbus company. what ishmael had initially thought to be some normal ass office job has become something much, much bigger - and she had managed to attain her goal in the end because of them, so. you know.
... ]
...Hopefully this descent to hell - or whatever you said long ago - will help you arrive to a conclusion too. Like mine did.
no subject
[His gaze turns to her, as a stalwart lighthouse at the edge of the sea, having seen too many ships wrecked against its shores when it looked away.]
....I aim for that. I have my goals, Ishmael. I will see them through.
no subject
well, maybe someone like him can do it. despite acknowledging the fact that color fixers are still people at the end of the day, people like vergilius are still capable of so many things that a former NPC like ishmael can only dream of doing. even now, she still doesn't have a set goal for this place.
but looking for one in the meantime ain't so bad. she still has time, after all. ]
M. I know you will. [ there's a tiny smile as she walks on ahead. ] Now hurry up so that we can tuck you into bed ASAP.
[ she's joking. mostly. ]
