[ Early May, a message is sent out to Outsiders inviting them to an amusement park experience without giant monsters (or corpses of them). At a much smaller fairground in the city's outskirts, Elan and Taryon have got a few rides hooked up and working, including rollercoasters, teacups, go-karts...honestly feel free to headcanon your own it's our castle now.

Most notable is the ferris wheel towering over the park. The view from the air is fantastic but the ride is not without its hitches and the power may cut out from time to time. Don't worry, your technicians are on it. Get comfortable inside and enjoy each other's company...

One half of the park remains out of order. A few rides are functional but rickety so if you are looking for a different kind of thrill by all means...Elan will tell you not to touch them if he sees you he will not be responsible for anyone's deaths!

Dinner's BYO(B) but he's brought a handful of fireworks for people to set off at night. Have at it!

[Raidou's curiosity sometimes gets the better of him. While this place isn't exactly filled with good memories for him, maybe it was time to replace them. He could only imagine what this place was like when it was fully operational, and a chance to see some of these strange rides and attractions in working order is very tempting. He's even managed to survive a ferris wheel ride intact!]

I'm honestly shocked anything here is able to work. How old are these rides at this point?

[Elan and Taryon are technowizards for getting anything to work.

Raidou beams when Bakugo says that about his baking.]

You think so? I made them with all dark chocolate chips this time.

[Bakugo has no plans on going on the ferris wheel. Even if the thing was solid enough to survive all these years, to him the ride looked like an invitation to breakdown at the most inconvenient time and place. It's not like he's got the best memories of Neo Tokyo theme parks now, thanks to that crap from earlier... Mah, maybe one day, this will be in a better state, and he can make better memories.]

Don't know. LILITH's never said when the kaiju started attacking.

[Five years? Fifty years? Three generations? How long does it take for a bunch of monsters to wipe out 4.3 billion people... Tch, better memories. They are here, and they're going to stop these fucking beasts.]

Huh. I noticed. [He takes another bite before canting his head and sending Raidou a small, but charming smug smirk.] That's why they're so good.

Are you not going to try any of the rides, then?

Though, I suppose you had been to a place like this where you're from.

[It's all new an interesting to him. When else is he ever going to get to try them?

Raidou looks so pleased that he noticed.]

I thought you might. I guess I've finally settled on the best recipe then.

Yeah, we have a lot of theme parks in Japan where I'm from. A lot are themed around heroes.

[Raidou's interest in the park isn't unexpected. It must all be new and exciting to him. He takes another bite, tongue pushing one of the morsels against his palate to melt it.]

Did you save it? [To make it again, obviously.]

Well, we survived a ferris wheel trip, and that was probably the most dangerous one. [Considering how tall it is. It's fine, he was with Yuji. Had something terrible happened, he'd have gotten them out of there in (mostly) one piece.] But there are a few other things closer to the ground if you'd rather? [Is this teasing? An offer? A challenge? Who's to say.]

Of course. Shall I send it to you?

Did it at least turn smoothly or did you get stuck? [Bakugo figures the "we" meant Raidou and Yuji, so no concern about whether or not his friend was in any danger. Both of them could get out of a crashing ferris wheel without trouble.]

Haa? Are you implying something, Shashou?! [What is this?! You wanna go?! Whether he's challenging him for a ferris wheel ride or wants to get his ass handed to him on the go karts or even hit something else up- SPIT IT OUT, COOKIE MAN!!]

It did stop, but it turns out that was on purpose. [He didn't know how it worked. ~~Blame Taryon.~~

He peeks at him from around his hat brim.]

I'm implying there are other things you should try, while we're here. Are those teacups more your speed?

Why the fuck would it stop on purpose?! [If other people were on that ride, who wanted to be jarred to a still when they had a suck view?!

Bakugo arches a brow when Raidou looks at him like that, the rim of his hat cutting his expression at an interesting angle. Those words following, however... Oh you bastard.]

I CAN HANDLE ANYTHING AT THIS PARK, DAMMIT!! Pick one!

[Ignoring the fact the ferris wheel runs about as fast, if not slower, than the teacups... which just make you barf.

Bakugo's going to log the recipe when he gets it, styling Raidou's name by it for reference/provider.]

Ah, well, it stops to make sure everyone gets a chance to see the view. A chance to enjoy themselves. [Don't make Raidou of all people spell it out for you, Bakugo.

He hums in thought about what to choose.]

Well, there is that roller coaster. [Which even seems dangerous to him.] And those... little cars? For racing?

That'd be a fucking three-hour ride! [Yeah, you don't have to spell it out, which just makes his head going "wtf?!" even more. Giving everyone a chance to see the view and enjoy themselves sounds... damn.

Anyways, give him another cookie while you think, bastard.]

The coaster's gonna crash by the end of the day. [He doesn't trust that thing at all. Though the karts bring an eyebrow up into his choppy bangs.] You know how to drive?

[He shakes his head with a grin. It's not that big of a ferris wheel!] It wasn't even close to that long. And we went twice.

Well, I do have my motorcycle. [And he can drive it! Mostly!] Those little carts don't look too complicated, yeah? I'm sure that's a contest you're going to win. [He's not as confident with his driving skills.]

[Bakugo arches a brow at the mention.] Twice? Did it "break down" both times? [Is he teasing Raidou? Probably. Something to get back on the front foot since the other boy's taunting him already. Damn punk.]

We've still got a date with those. [He wants to go for a drive with Raidou on their motorcycles, though maybe he can find it in himself not to instantly think it's a race. No promises he won't egg the other boy on at some point.]

Hn. You want me to go easy on you? [Like he ever would. But Bakugo's heading for the carts.]

Perhaps not "broken down" as much as "conveniently stopped for some people". [He's trying to stay coy, but his face is reddening just a little.]

I never said that. I will give it my best, as always. [He doesn't think he'll win, but that doesn't mean he won't try.]

... Shut up, sap. [Yeah, he's not asking anymore. Suspicions confirmed and now he's even less inclined to go on the damn ferris wheel. It's not like his crush on Raidou's gone away despite developments outside, well... "them".

FUCK NO! That doesn't mean he's at risk if he's trapped in an enclosed space with the summoner, dammit! Hmph! Ignoring the pink face over there, Bakugo's heading for the race track.]

Uh-huh. [Well since there aren't many people here, they get the track to themselves. Bakugo moves two karts to the front, then plants his foot atop the hood of one.]

Get in. [Test the comfort, see if they need to adjust the seat. Raidou's a tall boy.]

[If Raidou were one to ever laugh, he'd be chuckling here. Instead, he just tries and fails to suppress a grin. Maybe he is a sap.

Raidou looks the little car over, and slips into the seat. Some adjustment is needed, if only because who knows the last time someone sat in one of these. And hey, he's only 5'9". He puts his hands on the steering wheel, then a moment later takes them off to clap the dust and dirt from them. Well, that's pretty much how everything here has been.

If different than the motorcycle, but it should be easy enough, right?]

[Bakugo doesn't miss that grin and Raidou gets an elbow in the ribs. Enough to get an "oof" if he's not bracing for it already. Sap. He'll kick his ass on the go karts and feel better.

Bakugo helps with the adjustment, finding the lever and clasps down the sides to unlock the rails and get the seat free enough to wriggle. They have to break it out of the proverbial ice before it slides. Gonna need some grease later.]

Fuck, didn't those two idiots say they got this crap ready?

[Just because of that, Bakugo's checking the damn gas tank to see if the car even has gas! Raidou's still an inch and a half taller than him... Anyways.]

Around 35 mph. These aren't high performance karts. [There is gas in there...] Where the hell did those two even find gas?

[He'll give Raidou a quick overview of the gas and brake pedals.]

I'm sure they may have missed a detail here and there. [Look, it's a miracle this park is running at all. Some details may have been missed here and there. What's a dusty go-kart with everything else going on.]

Oh. Seems fast for such a little thing, doesn't it? [But in an exciting way. Sure, he could go faster on my motorcycle, where 35 MPH didn't feel like much of anything. It will sure feel like something in this carts.

Now that he knows how it works, he's ready to give it a test. Raidou is not a naturally talented driver by any means. He's very relieved that Bakugo didn't see him when he first got his motorcycle, but he's here to see this. He tests out the pedals, which are sticking a little from the lack of use. The cart suddenly jumps to life a little faster than he anticipated. Bakugo better watch out.]

Ah---!

[If they're saying the rides are up and ready for people, go-karts included, he expects that status to include cleaning and fueling. Still, if it's just dust and dirt, and everything else is operating, he guesses that can be tolerated. HE wouldn't have accepted that. If you're going to restore something, do it all the way, not a half-assed attempt!]

Who the fuck wants to race in in something slow, Shashou?

[Come on. Use that capped head of yours. But they also can't have a bunch of kids flooring it at 80mph either. Those take homebrewed karts and usually aren't... legal to be out and about. If there were more technologically oriented Outsiders, Bakugo would be concerned about these karts vanishing for joyrides. Not the case as it is.

As soon as he sees Raidou going for the pedal, he swings his leg to the side and stands adjacent to the kart-

Yeah, just for that reason. The quick lurch and jump. You know, he shouldn't tease him, but paybacks are paybacks.]

Wow, didn't think you could squeak like that.

That wasn't a squeak. [It totally was.]

The pedal got a little stuck. Be careful.

[That, and bless Raidou's little heart, he's just got a very good driver. He does okay on his motorcycle, but it's going to be a long time until Raidou is ever going to beat Bakugo in a race.

Now that Bakugo is out of the path of his cart, he tries again, but it lurches a few times again until he can get it moving a little smoother.]

... Not a word from you.

Uh-huh. [Doesn't believe that at all.

Bakugo heads over to his own kart, glancing to Raidou each time the other boy pushes the gas. That lurching path of the novice driver is obvious and he smirks at the warning issued over the summoner's back. Right, cause he's not gonna say shit.

Luckily or Raidou, the explosive teen turns to focus on the kart he picked, getting the seat adjusted and the engine turned on before testing out that gas and break. Ugh, no shit. These things are stuck pretty bad...]

How the hell is it hard to find oil in this place?

[Pumping the gas and break a few times seems to at least shave off some of the dirt and rust, but it's not a smooth ride for the first minute. At least he's behind Raidou and thus out of view. Soon enough, however, he pulls up beside him, comfortable at the wheel.]

[When Bakguo pulls up parallel with Raidou, he can see that the other boy is concentrating very hard, hands tight around the steering wheel. He's not going the max speed yet. When he goes to make the first turn, it's too sharp of one, turning a little too quickly. Thankfully it's in the opposite direction of Bakugo. This all causes him to slow down.

Raidou says nothing. He doesn't even want to look at Bakugo right now. His shoulders hunch over the steering wheel a little, like he was attempting to somehow ball up and disappear while also driving.]

[Bakugo eyes Raidou's focus. It can definitely feel weird to have the entire thing underneath in your control, the wheel almost a temptation to overcompensate for any movements that nudge just off the veer of straight. He puts on the brakes when Raidou jolts to the side, watching to make sure he doesn't end up crashing into the bumper-laden guard rail.

It's kind of amusing the way the guy's all hunched up. Even if he fits the kart just fine, it's comically becoming a very tall man in a tiny car sort of appearance.] Relax, Shashou! You're gonna pull a damn tendon.

[That gives Raidou a start, and the cart swerves just slightly, and he blinks as if he hadn't realized he had been doing that.]

Oh, was I-- [He straightens back out a bit.] I just-- need to focus, is all.

[Raidou might be good at a lot of things, but alas, one cannot be good at everything. And he's a bit too tightly wound as a person to fully let go yet and just enjoy this. He'll get there, eventually, but definitely not on the first go.]

[Bakugo's watching out for him. He eases up on his kart so that Raidou can catch up to him, focusing on the other boy's posture and position. Yeah, it's not something you can just "sure!" and do, but if he forces himself to relax, the better.]

You don't have to death grip the wheel. [Bakugo waits for Raidou to ease up a bit.] Lean back in your seat more; you're gonna fuck up your back if you're hunched.

[Can't let him learn bad habits before he even gets in a car.]

R-Right. [Raidou shakes his shoulders loose, leans back, and puts a determined look on his face. He's got this. Don't let the tiny car outthink you.

But doing so makes his foot slip off the gas pedal, which startles him a bit, and causes him to push a little too hard on it. The cart suddenly zips forward for a few seconds and then shutters as he tries to get back to a regular pace.

He does take a split second to tug his hat back into place, the brim going a little lower to cover his embarrassed face.]
