[ Early May, a message is sent out to Outsiders inviting them to an amusement park experience without giant monsters (or corpses of them). At a much smaller fairground in the city's outskirts, Elan and Taryon have got a few rides hooked up and working, including rollercoasters, teacups, go-karts...honestly feel free to headcanon your own it's our castle now.

Most notable is the ferris wheel towering over the park. The view from the air is fantastic but the ride is not without its hitches and the power may cut out from time to time. Don't worry, your technicians are on it. Get comfortable inside and enjoy each other's company...

One half of the park remains out of order. A few rides are functional but rickety so if you are looking for a different kind of thrill by all means...Elan will tell you not to touch them if he sees you he will not be responsible for anyone's deaths!

Dinner's BYO(B) but he's brought a handful of fireworks for people to set off at night. Have at it!

I bet he made that super grumpy face, right? Like a dog that's growling at someone, but one of those tiny ones. [ Did he just call Bakugo a Pomeranian? Maybe -

Yuji is quick to hop in and sit down, and as soon as they're comfortable (Raidou's arm around him has his heart beating a little faster) he's kicking his feet out, turning to stare out the wide, open windows. ]

You want me to carry you again? It was cute when we climbed that tree.

Exactly. And after that it was closed for the season... He'll be waiting for his rematch for awhile.

[Teasing Bakugo is one of his new favorite hobbies.

Well, it's rusty, dirty, dark, and creaking disconcertingly, but it's moving. Better than nothing. Raidou's more than glad to have it. None of that impacts the beautiful view of the city, though, which is slowly coming into view, along with the occasional firework being set off by the Outsiders below.

Raidou leans his head on Yuji's shoulder, content as could be.]

... Only if you do it.

[He's been picked up and carried here a few more times than he would like, thank you very much. But Yuji is allowed. Only Yuji.]

He'll figure something else out. Basketball, or laser tag, or just running... Everything's a bit of a competition.

[ Yuji's body settles close to Raidou without pause, dragging him closer, warm and soft and all that he needs right now. He's not afraid of something like the creak of a machine, not after all the things he's seen, so he lets himself bask in this.

It's nice. Normal. He's missed that.

Turning his head a little, he presses his face against Raidou's gently. ]

Mm. I'll carry you any time.

[The site of the city from a distance is always novel to Raidou. He never gets tired of seeing it, and this is the best view yet. Those tall, gleaming buildings, all the lights...]

It's so different than the Capital, but... it's really beautiful, isn't it? It seems so peaceful from here.

[It's nearish to the top of the of the wheel where the ride comes to a slow stop, to give everyone a chance to have a change to enjoy the view. Had it come to a sudden halt, maybe he'd be worried, but just in case...

Raidou doesn't move far, just looking left and right for a moment, more listening for any sounds of distress from anywhere nearby. Seems fine.]

... Is it supposed to do that?

It's nice. Home right now is chaotic and kind of... But this is nice. I like seeing how many people seem to be finding happiness here.

[ Yuji squeezes Raidou a little as they come to a stop, rocking a little, and he's turning to peer over him, leaning his body into the other boy's without hesitation, sinking into his personal space.

It's too familiar, now. ]

Yeah, it's so we can enjoy the view for a moment. It's when people in anime make out, or confess, stuff like that.

It's true, isn't it. Despite everything else... a lot of people seem happy.

[How often does he talk to new arrivals who seem actually interested in living their civilian lives? People being dropped from one desperate situation to another, but preferring life here. Maybe Raidou was no different.

Then suddenly, Yuji is leaning over him, and his heart seems to skip a beat whenever he does that.]

Oh, is that so? [Raidou slides a hand around to the back of Yuji's neck.]

Hmm... What a shame I have nothing to confess.

It’s strange to think there are people all over this world we’ll never get to meet. We’re not important to them at all.

[ Just like at home, but it’s different here. They’re hiding, fighting to help people, and no one will ever know who they are. Just like fighting curses, but worse because the horrors of kaiju can be seen by everyone.

Raidou distracts him, immediately so, and that soft, pleased smile settles on Yuji’s face. ]

Ah, guess that means we’ll have to kiss or something.

Perhaps it's better that way. [Raidou knows all too well. Back home, he was just your friendly neighborhood detective in training and high schooler. Now just your friendly neighborhood priest in training and ramen cook. People knowing what they did, here and at home, would only complicate things. They wouldn't be able to enjoy those "normal" lives that were all the more precious to them due to the nature of their real work.]

I guess that'll have to do.

[Raidou's fingers dance playfully on Yuji's neck, before taking hold to draw him in for a kiss.]

Yeah... [ Yuji understands that. He's lost enough people that the idea of more people befriending him and having to watch him suffer, and lose himself, and end up being hurt... He knows how much it hurt to lose the people he loved, so more people liking him...?

It's a little much, so he shoves the thoughts away. He doesn't want to think about all that kind of sad stuff when Raidou is right here, kissing him gently, giving him the affection he yearns for so much. ]

Johei...

[ Leaning in, he wraps an arm around him, tilting his head up to return the kiss, slow and soft, eyes closing. ]

[There's a quiet, happy hum from Raidou at the sound of Yuji saying his name, at the arm taking hold of him. He wastes no time drawing them together, or trying to deepen the kiss - they probably don't have much time, he thinks. A little sense of urgency, as Raidou is still the sort of person who wouldn't want to be caught. As if anyone is paying attention.

But, it did all make it seem just a little more exciting, didn't it?]

[ It's not like they have a lot of time, but also - that kind of makes it a little bit more exciting, doesn't it? Being able to lean into the kiss, steal more of it, to let one arm wrap around Raidou and hold him close as Yuji gives him all he can...

It's really nice, actually.

When they pause, the Ferris Wheel rocking a little around them, he laughs softly. ]

Addictive...

[The shaky breath Raidou lets out says that he agrees.]

Mm... is it? [Because he just has to tease. He stays tantalizingly close, thumb caressing Yuji on the side of his face.] Then I guess--

[It's easy to forget in the moment where they are. Suddenly, the ferris wheel lurches to life again. The jolt of motion making the two of them shift enough that Raidou's forehead bonks Yuji gently on his, cutting off his words.

He blinks, then grins sheepishly.]

Ah. Sorry.

It’s fine, it’s fine…

[ Yuji laughs softly, rubbing his forehead just a little.

It’s cute. All of this is cute. Riding the wheel together, kissing, little silly accidents like this… It makes his heart feel fuzzy in his chest, in an addictive, fun sort of way.

Leaning back, he sighs. ]

I guess we’ll have to finish later. Do you want to go around again or do something else?

I'm going to hold you to that.

[The day is young. And there's, well, about half an operating park. Raidou settles against him again, eyes closed, enjoying the breeze and the quiet, only to be broken up by the occasional squeal and pop from the fireworks.]

I do want to try one of the other rides too, but... one more time around again wouldn't hurt, right?

If they let us!

[ Yuji grins, cuddling against Raidou until they trail their way back to the starting point, and then he waves at the guy to say he wants to go again. They're allowed, and so they slowly creak along. ]

We should take a picture.

[Raidou likes taking photos, but it's something he doesn't think to do. Like there's a block he still needs to get over, needing to remember how easy it is to do in this day and age.]

Oh, that's a great idea. When it stops again, yeah? So we have the city in the background?

That sounds great! I have my polaroid camera ready.

[ Wiggling closer, he leans into him, kissing his cheek. ]

I'll add it to my wall.

Then you better take two, so I can do the same.

[He gets in nice and close for the selfies as the wheel slowly creaks its way towards the best shot of the city skyline behind them. As soon as Yuji has the camera held up and is about to take the first photo, Raidou quickly turns to give him a kiss on the cheek.]

[ !!!

The kiss has Yuji going a little pink as he tries to quickly take two pictures - they end up coming out fine, but his bright red face is obvious, and he groans a little. ]

Embarrassing...

[Raidou looks pleased as anything, a teasing grin lighting up his face as he plucks one of the photos from Yuji.]

I think you meant to say "perfect".

[ He laughs a little, letting the picture go and leaning back, cheeks still pink. ]

Maybe 'cute' works too...?
