[open] bootstrap disney hangout

[ Early May, a message is sent out to Outsiders inviting them to an amusement park experience without giant monsters (or corpses of them). At a much smaller fairground in the city's outskirts, Elan and Taryon have got a few rides hooked up and working, including rollercoasters, teacups, go-karts...honestly feel free to headcanon your own it's our castle now.
Most notable is the ferris wheel towering over the park. The view from the air is fantastic but the ride is not without its hitches and the power may cut out from time to time. Don't worry, your technicians are on it. Get comfortable inside and enjoy each other's company...
One half of the park remains out of order. A few rides are functional but rickety so if you are looking for a different kind of thrill by all means...Elan will tell you not to touch them if he sees you he will not be responsible for anyone's deaths!
Dinner's BYO(B) but he's brought a handful of fireworks for people to set off at night. Have at it!

[ Maybe somewhere in the colonies a Spacian had invested in a fairground and the physics to make it work, but Elan wouldn't know. What he remembers of his life back home is fairly limited. His gaze follows the sound of the popping fireworks before it settles back onto Akechi. ]
So you'll have to tell me how close this is to the real thing.
[ Well, assuming he knew what theme parks were like before the apocalypse. ]

No, I've never been either. [ he admits, preparing another bottle rocket. ] I've seen them but never been inside. This one is certainly... quieter.

[ The abandoned fairground is all there is left, at least until the mods revive Disneyland. That's not to say they can't make things a little more exciting. Elan reaches for more fireworks. What's better than one bottle rocket is two bottle rockets, and he begins to rig one up next to him. ]

A surprisingly healthy way to look at it- or is it unhealthy? [ he muses, eyes straying to the other bottle rocket as he continues to set up his. as for the question... ]
Oh, it's always something, isn't it? [ VAGUE. so he shrugs. ] Once I had the money, I didn't have the time. I suppose when I was a child I might've wanted to go.
[ but he grew up pretty poor, so... ah well! he can always try one now. ]

Akechi doesn't elaborate but Elan thinks he kinda gets it. Some people are born less privileged than others. Someone who has everything wouldn't be launching fireworks at makeshift Disney all by their lonesome. Though, that may go for both of them. ]
Supposedly it's the land of dreams. [ He turns a match between his fingers. ] Hey, let's make a wish.

he turns from the bottle rocket to elan curiously. ]
A wish? How childish. [ he scoffs, even as he looks back to his own bottle rocket thoughtfully.

[ The world owes them this much. Elan leans over his bottle rocket to think. He wants many things. An Earth without kaiju. Kryptos in his pockets. A comfortable, long life. A name of his own. Friends. Family. A past. A future. Everything. If he had to pick just one thing to wish for... ]

the only thing is... what does he want? he has no idea anymore. until recently he wanted someone's head on a pike just as much as he wanted to be acknowledged by him, then he wanted to end the false reality he'd been stuck in, then...
now? what does he want? he supposes he should wish for the end of kaiju too, but that seems to be what you're "supposed" to do.

Elan glances sideways at the other teen knowing full well they're both past the age where they can believe in wishes. ]

[ Elan exhales. He wanted to travel Earth and look at where he is now. Stuck in a strange, monster-infested planet that makes a mockery of his desire. At least things can't get much worse from here. ]
Maybe we ought to make it happen rather than wait for it.
