[ Yesod is around... Causing his Netzach avatar to look very buttoned up, hair brushed and tied back. ]

[ ... And there he is.

Thank goodness she wasn't drinking or this would throw her off so badly. ]

Yesod, are you sober?

[ Having glanced up as Gebura made her entrance, Yesod frowns upon being asked to confirm what he believes should be a given, if his identity is obvious — until he considers that his attending this extended gathering is already unusual. So much for any hope of damage control as well... ]

Of course I am.

[ Sufficiently so, as out of place as it makes him, because the alternative would put him even more on edge. He only looks overwhelmed by the entire venue and the bizarre experience of seeing "himself" stumbling around, slouching, completely unkempt. In fact, arms crossed, he seems to be hugging himself instead to resist the urge to intervene. ]

My mind is still my own, despite my current appearance.

[bemist]

You're also at a party.

[ Which is odd enough that she has to remark on it, even if he may have his reasons to be here i.e. "damage control." Still, that's one less person she may have to potentially carry. ]

Either way, might as well head out. Unless you want to walk him-- [ a glance over at Netzach ] back on your own.

[ "Party" could be synonymous with "torture chamber" — Yesod's gaze is distant, as if he has seen too much in a single day. When he rises from his seat to join Gebura, he is a little less steady on his feet than he should be, based on his assertions. ]

I have no desire to lose control of my faculties. I reasoned that I should be prepared to provide an explanation... but I am not here to ruin the atmosphere altogether, as surprising as that must be.

[ Least of all while he doesn't look like himself. ]

Perhaps Malkuth will need to take us apart again. She seemed quite pleased with her handiwork.

Make sure she's got a manual or something with her this time, or you'll end up looking like Hod next.

[ Which is not exactly how it works, she's sure, but not like Gebura understands mechanics. ]

But we'll head back at a slower pace, either way. Wriothesley and Netzach aren't really up to anything else.

[ Like Hod... Like Michelle, he assumes, with some differences. Imagining his voice coming out of her mouth is decidedly strange, but from there, he returns to some recent thoughts. What happened to the rest of the research team? After a certain point, his memories of his first life are incomprehensible, scraps of indistinct images, and then they abruptly come to a complete stop. ]

I will acknowledge that this avatar error is harmless, and that Malkuth dedicated a considerable amount of time to her preparations.

[ Pausing, he casts a glance in Netzach's direction as Gebura did — Netzach clearly took full advantage of Elysium's offer to cover the bar expenses. It's good that Gebura, more and more reminiscent of what Yesod recalls of Kali, decided to make an appearance tonight. His own stepping in, no doubt something that Netzach views as annoying meddling each time, would be inadequate. ]

In any case, I agree... A slower pace is sensible.

[ Please pretend that he isn't having minor difficulties himself. ]

You dislike Elysium?

[ She will not, but she also won't mention it. He's one of the easier ones to work with, even though their paths hadn't crossed all that much during Lobcorp affairs. Different roles, after all. ]

I'm not exactly into guys who drag people along without bothering to hear them out or who act way too personal. So no, I can't say I like him.

[ It's not, like. Seething hatred or anything, more strong annoyance, but what doesn't annoy Gebura? ]

[ Hmm. Yesod accepts Gebura's answer with a nod. ]

That sort of behavior is rather irritating.

[ His own first impression of Elysium was the man's network listing advertising non-existent services, which led to a face-to-face conversation — if not because he genuinely hoped to book a consultation, seeking a navigator to guide his soul through life's uncharted waters. He was simply curious.

He remains curious as to Elysium's motives, to tell the truth. ]

That said, in some ways, he reminds me of... Daniel.

[ ... Right, Yesod was further along with Netzach, wasn't he? Of course he'd remember Daniel.

Not that it does anything in the moment, only serving to make Gebura's expression even flatter. Yeah, Daniel and his flawless ability to be charismatic and draw people to him and also the incessant seeking her (Kali) out to get her to try his coffee, just to struggle with keeping a straight face when she'd nearly choked on it. ]

Daniel was a pain, too.

[ He might be inclined to agree once again, going by his recollections of the research team and their interactions. All the same... ]

It didn't strike me as malicious. The same appears to be the case now.

[ Elysium mentioned that he worked as a fields and communications expert, but offering a listening ear and his advice to others is apparently done by choice. It may be useful to him to win people over, if they don't share Gebura's opinion.

For a moment, Yesod closes his eyes. ]

To think that the deaths didn't end...

... Of course not.

[ He'd died fairly early on, but... ]

A lot of them died around the same time, in the end. Maybe one other after you had a quieter mess of a death.

[penaltypoints]

[ It makes sense. Of course the deaths continued until no one was left — almost no one. Around the same time, however, not one by one... Gebura remembers all of it.

But this isn't the place to pursue the topic further, and what good does it do anyone now, in any event? No one's pain is eased. The uncertainty of the future darkens it, too.

Silent, Yesod regards Gebura for a while. ]

[ And it's next to impossible to miss his gaze on her, as much as she wishes she could ignore it. ]

... There's no use lingering on it now. [ ... is all she says, finally. ]
