[ dw, if there's anyone who doesn't feel bad for wriothesley, it's yuwon. even if he can commiserate with the idea of not exactly being fond of being held as a spectacle for the masses. (exaggeration) ]

I haven't heard of that rule.

[ it's a firm statement that leaves no room for argument. at least not on his end. he says it as if he were reciting a fact more than he was his personal stance on the topic. though, maybe he specifically uses this tone precisely because... elysium is this way. the type who would easily take a mile when given an inch, no a millimeter. says yuwon who has known him for a couple of days.

[ Just because Elysium has strong feelings about flags themselves, it doesn't mean he thinks they're the be all end all… but that would be a fair assumption to make, given it was what he'd opened the game with.

As an aside, he's going to ignore Yuwon's careless dismissal of social conventions. yw. ]

No. [ A laugh, because he hears the judgement even if isn't strictly used in his tone. ]

It depends on the battle, for sure. Would you say the same about any support role, Mister Yuwon? Flags remind people what they're fighting for, and for as long as that banner waves, you know your squad holds up true. Naturally, for more covert and/or smaller operations, it wouldn't make sense to bring them at all. But, I'm not talking about your everyday brawls and skirmishes.

At the mention of his sword, Elysium's face scrunches up the tiniest bit. He exhales a sigh. ]

Unfortunately not. If I had to pick and choose between my sword and flag though, it'd be the latter every time. I don't have it just to have it stand pretty, you know.

[ the scenario elysium describes probably made sense within the conventions of his world. he supposes it was a matter of keeping morale up and troops motivated. a reminder to their cause. but, unfortunately, yuwon had only ever thought of raw survivability. or maybe, it just seemed pointless when the enemies fought where so... foreign. so dead set on invading every corner and obliterating all life within the tower that it made everything else seem so pointless and nonessential.

... not that they all shared a similar flag to begin with. ]

Most of the time, I fight alone. But, I get what you're saying. [ even he thinks if his group were connected much sooner, and were privy to more information in advance, then the results could have also been a bit different. but, their odds probably would have still only increased by a mere 1-2%? ] Outside of having the flag there, are there other merits? [ if he'd choose it over the sword, surely... ]

So it's that important to you... [ his words trail off thoughtfully. he wonders if this flags also represented something else to him? a country, an organization, a guild? he's a bit curious to see what someone like elysium is really fighting for. ]

[ 'Most of the time, I fight alone,' says everything Elysium needs to know… It does beg the question of how long Yuwon's seemingly been alone for. From his demeanour to the way he communicates, Elysium estimates that it'd be quite the solitary number.

Anyway, he won't protest that it's important to him—because it is. Even more so in the stages of debt arc, where it wouldn't be so easily replaceable or fixed. ]

More practically, it serves as an amplifier for my abilities. If I'm being sent on a mission, odds are I should carry it with me anyway. There's never a time where communication wouldn't be important, yeah?

[ Circumstances have lead to it not being entirely necessary, but… it does help, regardless. ]

I can manipulate transmissions. I imagine that's why they decided to bring me here above anything else. Though, who's to say why exactly? Unless it comes from them, themselves. [ A beat, then: ] What kind of battlefields are you accustomed to, Mister Yuwon?

[ i'm crying, not elysium basically being like "yeah, you look like someone who'd be alone." perhaps, the characteristics of those who were accustomed to solitude were more palpable than anyone can really say. regardless of what he's thinking, yuwon does seem to focus on his words. ]

As for what kind of battlefield... aren't they all roughly the same? For me, it's normally in conflict with a guild. [ while it's olympus for now, that was only really the start of his journey. well, outside of the usual trials. ]
