[ He says it with a huff of laughter as he follows behind to pry his own axe out of the wooden target. ]

Still, it'd be nice to hold my own with this thing. Got any tips on how to improve my aim?

Well... [He swings his axe in a low, lazy arc as he let's his arm hand loosely and flop forth and back.] It's all in the wrist. Try to keep your head steady as your throw it, or or aim will be way off.

Like this. [He returns to the end of the target range, lifts his axe, takes a moment to adjust his arm, then throws it again. This time, it also buries itself close to the center.]

[ He murmurs the words to himself, trying to mimic Taryon's motions with his own hand. There's another low whistle as Taryon's throw once again hits true. Clearly the man knows what he's talking about.

Well, looks like he's up again. Wriothesley repeats what he's been told, doing his best to keep his hand steady and his wrist limber. One, two...and then he's throwing again. Better this time, as his axe inches a bit closer to center. ]

See? Just like that. [Damn, he should look into teaching others on how to throw axes. He's clearly good at it, and Wriothesley has gotten better after only a few minutes of training.] Now we can better throw our weapons at whatever monsters we come across.

Just gotta find a good axe first.

[ Which is probably easier said than done given their location. Maybe when they get back to base he can consider getting an upgrade....

Though Taryon certainly does bring up a good point. ]

I should start looking into using something other than my fists though. Can't exactly punch through everything we fight, now can I?

True. If not an axe, maybe a sword? Those always look cool. [He retrieves his axe and gives it a few swinging twirls as he leans against a post.] And a gun, you need a long-range attack. I could make something for you if neither of those sound good.

[ Look at Taryon, already thinking ahead five steps. And while he has nothing against guns - one of his best friends uses one, after all - the suggestion does have him blinking in surprise. ]

A gun? [ He's never envisioned himself using a gun before. ] Aren't they notoriously hard to aim?

[ Though if the kaiju are as big as they are... ]

I'm not sure, I never used one. It looks pretty easy to use. [Judging by the experts on their team and Percival the gunslinger from home...who hit their targets as if they used no effort.] And you can stay a safe distance while you fight. I'm pretty sure whatever we're fighting will be tricky to get close to. Why not have an extra weapon?

[He holds out a hand to show a ring on his middle finger. There's a metal insignia shaped like a ram crafted onto it.] I brought this from home just for situations like this.

[ Huh. Maybe his future as a gunslinger is now? Aiming at a target and then firing a single precise shot dead center does look pretty cool, he has to admit. (Good thing Clorinde isn't here to laugh herself to death while he practices.) He tucks that possibility away for later.

He peers at the ring, clearly curious. ]

What's it do? Other than make you look very fashionable.

[Taryon would say that being awesome with guns would be a fantastic way to impress Ishmael, but first Wrio has to get a gun.

He pulls the ringed hand away and tucks it into his pocket.] It fires magical blasts. Don't worry, it takes effort to activate it. I won't break anything in here.

[ Damn, looks like he better start practicing with that future gun. But magical blasts sure do sound handy in a pinch. Also: ]

You must be pretty good at aiming then, between the axe and this ring. Looks like I'll be learning from you from here on out.

Oh- ah, yes. Of course. [The weight of responsibility rests on Taryon's shoulders now that recent events have deemed him thr master of distance fighting. No longer does he fumble through battle...at least, he hopes that will never happen again. For Wriothesley's sake.] We'll have to do a lot of training from now on!
