The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.
Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Koreaโs resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.
LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.
However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didnโt track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugiโs nest. So where is the Imugi?
Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITHโs Korean base is destroyed.
The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.
LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.

After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

[ he was on his way back from the vending machines when marcille speaks up, a water bottle held in his hands. his expression softens, and the smile he gives is dimmed but genuine as he takes a seat next to her. ]

[ That seems to get a little bit of emphasis from Marcille when she otherwise seemed spent. ]
We had to make a really hard decision in a really short amount of time. No one knew what would've happened. We may not have been able to help Seoul either!
These things happen. As callous as it may sound, events of similar scale aren't uncommon back where I'm from. Best we can do is recoup hopefully in time for the next.
That shouldn't be how it always is, Malkuth! They won't listen to reason and you will be all alone! I tried and I couldn't get them to listen to anything! Now hundreds of thousand souls have passed and this is what we're doing?

[This level of destruction is far beyond anything even Yato himself has seen. No surprise there - they were dealing with a true, honest-to-god monster here, one far beyond the capabilities of any one group to wrangle without knowing its habits. Though that comes as little comfort to him, knowing what the toll of their poor decision.
All they can do now is try to regroup and ensure their own are safely accounted for. That includes emotionally, too. That's why when Yato spots Ereshkigal, he comes up alongside her and, for what little it's worth, settles a gentle hand on her shoulder. Gripping lightly with the smallest of shakes. Just enough to get her attention.]
[ when she saw the destruction in seoul, rover inhales sharply. it reminded her too much of home. the whining aix, chasing after its rampage as it strives to avenge its mate.
she had dealt the final blow on the other kaiju. she watched it as it fell on the city and wondered if, in the end, she'd overclocked. she hadn't. the remaining one left the mountains and came back for its mate, saw its wrecked and dead body, the humans splitting it up for parts - whatever they can get, despite the agents' involvement - and decided to take revenge.
the eggs, for the most part, are intact, aside from some who were willing to smash them. for now, the outsiders are recalled.
rover feels exhausted, but seeing the eggs get loaded by LILITH agents into the cargo bay, she shakes her head. ]
... they should leave the eggs. That is not going to bear well on this Imugi or for what remains of this country.

A confession, Friend Kaede. I do not like these orders. Nest breaking, egg smashing, it is never pleasant. Yet keeping the eggs, that serves a purpose that my core has an ill feeling of.
[ Lucy drops her gun bags next to her as she sinks down to the ground next to Ereshkigal. Exhausted, hungry, a little sick, and utterly emotionally spent, Lucy's ready to just sleep for a hundred years if she's allowed to do so. ]
You're not a god anymore, Ereshkigal. You're at the same level as the rest of us. There's only so much the mortal can do.
[ Having been one of those most vocal about giving chase, Set does not look away from the destruction left in the wake. He also has no intention of hiding his face, or slinking around like he feels guilt or wishes he had chosen otherwise.
Even surveying the desolation and estimation of the death toll, the hatred of Seoul's branch towards them โ he takes it all on with a cold expression, a carefully-structured antipathy. Set is a god of war, and comprehends that wars come with horrendous consequences one way or another. ]
There was always going to be a cost. We did not abandon humanity, we simply chose the bigger picture. There are those โ like Seoul โ who will always lay blame on the ones they are dependent on, when things do not go their way.
[ Injured and still recovering, he might make a good target ( which could happen a. either on the way back, or b. once back at the base! ) for anyone's grief, wrath or general negativity they wish to direct at someone who seems so cold, so capricious about the loss of life. The loss of LILITH's Seoul branch.
It's not like he'd NOT invite the conflict, being what he is. ]

[ Godzilla grunts as he squats down next to Ereshkigal. She looks a little bit like how he feels, really. Exhausted and very, very small. He can't just leave her alone in the corner to wither. ]

[ he likewise hasn't forgotten about her either. the dating games seem like a lifetime ago now, but at least they were happier memories. ]

We were given information and had to make a choice.
[ she didn't like being painted as heartless for wanting to go after the kaiju, and she hates that the people who wanted to stay behind might think it's a good idea to gloat about it. ]
...It still sucks. [ understatement, pitiful one really. ] I don't think I'll sleep well for the next few nights.
[The air around her is cold and heavy unlike her usual self. Her expression is mostly somber, but seeing Kabru falling to his knees. She gets it. Why are they alive? What is the point of living? She is still looking for those answers herself.
She quietly grabs him under the shoulders with a very solid grip and pulls him back on his feet.]
I get it. You still need to pull yourself up and out of those thoughts. Those thoughts are not going to help you or anyone else.
[ it's clear not everyone is their proper frame of mind after everything went down the way it had. while yuwon remains perfectly impervious to it all on the surface, it's clear there are certain points that still remain with him. likely buried deep down, just like his memories of seeing izou behind bars in that one experience he chalks up to being a simple dream. when he sees the man inebriated like this, however, for some reason the memory resurfaces in full, and he has difficulties washing it down for once. ]

Regardless of our individual decisions, we're all under LILITH, all complicit in some shape or form. If we start, there'll be no end to the what-ifs. Like how the twelve hatchlings could've wrought even more destruction had they the opportunity. We'll never know.
