[It hasn’t been all that long since Lilias visited a bar, and yet after the week she’s had, it feels like it’s been an entire lifetime. Despite the alien nature of the city, Trouble Peach’s dim interior is comfortingly recognizable as the modest little drinking establishment it is. Lilias follows Tezcatlipoca inside with an intent, assessing look around that gradually warms with satisfaction.
Yes—as long as the liquor is halfway palatable, this will do just fine.]
Hello, [she tells the bartender, apparently not abashed at all to be bringing a huge bird into a bar. She’s used to low-end places having pretty relaxed standards about that sort of thing.] This gentleman had some quite flattering things to say about your establishment, so I just had to come.
[He also definitely implied the drinks wouldn’t be very good, but that is what it is. Lilias glances up at her companion.]
See? Nothing to worry about, I'm here for a good time.
[ ...Which might be a little telling about why the bartender isn't totally thrilled to see Tezcatlipoca. Apparently this is a place where he has a reputation. Through from his side of things, he seems perfectly at ease with that. He takes a seat comfortably at the chosen table and starts to reach for his jacket, but then stops as he seems to realize something. A habit, maybe? ]
Ah, yeah. I like chatting, so I don't always get around to that.
[ He looks at her across the table, and though his gaze isn't overly intense, it does seem like he's potentially expecting some kind of reaction. ]
[How rowdy is Tezca on his off hours that this bartender is unhappy to see him… Lilias spends another moment eyeing their less-than-welcoming visage before settling at the table, briefly lifting one arm so her familiar can waddle across it to perch on the back of another chair.
At her companion’s introduction, she tilts her head slightly with interest—but it’s only at the sound of such a long and foreign-sounding name. Sadly for Tezca, if he cares about such things, even though Set is a known god on her world, Tezcatlipoca is most assuredly not.]
I’m Lilias Hollow. Though, I understand I’m meant to be Eve when in public.
[Why does she need a fake name for her civilian persona? Does LILITH have a list of conveniently “status unknown” people to use for fake identities? She doesn’t quite see the need for such deception, especially when she’s very clearly a foreigner regardless.
After a moment, she gestures to the large, crimson-eyed bird that came in with her.]
Ah, yeah. Guess here I’m David. [ Pronounced in the Spanish way, naturally. ] Least the last name’s Suchil, so it’s not as insulting.
[ He waves a hand dismissively, though. Since she didn’t react to his name, that’s answer enough to say that she wouldn’t understand why he’d find the name insulting. He at least doesn’t mind that he’s not recognized, since even if he’s an arrogant son of a bitch, he’s still a trickster god who spent plenty of time pretending to not be divine. He doesn’t care too much about the recognition, especially as his pantheon’s influenced waned. ]
But nice to meet ya. [ And, with a cheeky smile to Bel: ] Both of ya.
[ He looks to the bar to see what’s in stock at this point, leaning back just a little to catch a better view. ]
So, we got the music, and this is nice, so how about drinks? What kinda drinking you do?
[Indeed, the context for why “David” might be an insulting name to be assigned flies completely over Lilias’s head, as does any knowledge that it might potentially be pronounced any other way. Her Earth knowledge is still barebones at best, though she does at least seem to let Tezca’s comment pass without trying to pursue it down that rabbit hole.]
Likewise, [she says. Bel continues to say nothing at all, though the bird does at least look at Tezca when spoken to, briefly bobbing his head in a gesture of apparent acknowledgement.
Tezca’s question has Lilias’s gaze slipping over to follow his, though obviously most of what she sees is completely alien to her. Note to self: Read up on local brand names for different liquors before going out again. And learn what “cocktails” are.]
Usually I prefer wine, but not at places like this. [Places where the wine probably won’t be any good, she means. She is, unfortunately, a bit of a wine snob.] A few drinks of something formidable wouldn’t go amiss. What do you like, here?
[ What a little gentleman. Tezcatlipoca is also pretty interested in Bel, admittedly, but only because of his domain of magecraft. It feels obvious to him that the bird is a familiar, but he also knows that his expectations for that aren’t necessarily accurate. Plus. There’s just a little bit of instinct that makes him want to essentially bully poor Bel, what with being a jaguar god and all.
But that’s for later, once he’s nice and properly drunk (?). He also shakes his head when she says wine, since he wouldn’t go for it here either, but turning it back to him? He smiles mischievously. ]
Easy. Tequila.
[ He leans back to nod to the bartender, since that’s that, so far as he’s concerned, but he laughs as he sits back properly. ]
Real hard drink to fuck up, even if it’s cheap. The agave always gives it a flavor that’s like nothing else, so if you like warm and earthy, you’re gonna get it.
[Lilias nods, more than content to go with Tezca’s recommendation. Neither the plant nor the drink is at all familiar to her, hailing as she does from a rather damp, northerly climate, but his description sounds agreeable enough, and she’s curious enough to want to judge the drink for herself.
Especially when the suggestion has come with such a mischievous look.
For now, Lilias makes herself comfortable and focuses on Tezca, letting the bar’s sleepy music and dim, cramped ambience fade into the background. He’s chosen the place well; it’s the right kind of bar to visit with company. She likes being able to hear herself think.]
So. [She smiles.] Are you going to going to fill me in on why the bartender here gave you such a lukewarm reception?

[Too impatient to grab a drink, apparently.]

Oh, and this is Bel.
[No alias for him.]
