HANGAR LOG [open]
WHO: robots and YOU
WHAT: catchall sort of thing for robot pilots, robot enjoyers, and perhaps even robot haters.
WHERE: the hangar
WHEN: mumble mumble september
WARNINGS: discussions of Canon-Typical Violence, probably
LILITH's hangar is a wonderland of mechanical delights, if you're some kind of robot nerd. Beyond the base's personnel transport, fleet of camper vans and a bevy of personal vehicles, there are GIANT ROBOTS. Or...they were giant robots. Now they're considerably smaller. But still cool!!
With robots come pilots, tending to their mechs or checking out everyone else's, or maybe just chillaxing in here if they need a moment's peace. Of course, being that the hangar is open, pilots aren't the only Outsiders in here; anyone can just waltz on in and ogle whatever is here. (Tampering with the robots is ill-advised, however.)
[OOC: standard mingle log rules apply: toplevel with your characters, tag out, enjoy. mecha-canon characters and non-mecha peeps alike are more than welcome!]

Still...]
...Sure, if you want. It's pretty heavy though, just to warn you.
[Two-handed, he holds it out for her to take.]
no subject
With just her left hand. She hefts it in her palm experimentally, ears giving thoughtful twitches as she gets a feel for it. It's pretty obvious there's something Going On with her though, she can't exactly hide the floating carrier deck made of blue fire that's appeared by her right arm. Without her Rigging active she'd have no chance of lifting this damned thing. ]
That's an interesting balance to it. How does one deploy the blade?
no subject
Oh, uh... You press and hold to activate, and then you twist here to lock it on so you don't have to keep squeezing. [He indicates the various spots along the grip where you do just that.] ...It's designed to be activated by a mobile suit, though. You're not gonna be able to do it by hand.
[That's not a dig on her strength or anything, the buttons and mechanisms are just. Jumbo. They're meant for a 10 ft tall robot! You need the hand-span and the gripping power of a literal machine.]
no subject
You're not wrong... but you may not be completely right either. [ A thoughtful hum as she considers the inactive weapon in her hand. ] LILITH's figured out how to copy your world's weaponry. Maybe they can adapt it to function with kansen too.
[ Because she is polite and sane and a good person, Kaga proceeds to carefully set the weapon back down where Dearka had it. ]
Would you mind demonstrating it a little for me? I'd be quite grateful.
no subject
[He starts to ask, his expression quizzical. But since she asks politely enough for a demonstration, he can hardly say no.]
...Yeah, I suppose there's no harm in that. Might wanna take a few steps back from the mobile suit, though. Just for safety reasons.
[He clambers up easily to the Buster's cockpit, opting to leave the hatch open for talking while he does this, so he doesn't have to make use of the Buster's outboard speaker system. He starts flipping a few switches, initializing some key system while he makes some idle chatter.]
...So what's up with that thing you had around your arm before? Some kind of augmentation?
no subject
[ She really, really needs to get around to writing up that primer on what kansen are for the other Outsiders but Creator's sake, the more she can put off anything even resembling paperwork the better.
There's no argument, she takes a few steps back while summoning her rigging again. The fiery flight deck just floats there
menacinglyto serve as a visual aid while she explains. ]It's my rigging. I'm an aircraft carrier.
[ A little plane made of flame appears on the flight deck. There's the sound of a propeller spinning up and soon it takes off, solidifying into an rc sized replica of an old ww2 zero plane. The little plane proceeds to climb up into the air and start circling above Kaga's head. ]
Kansen are living beings born from the human memories centered around a warship. Some of us are carriers, others are battleships, destroyers, submarines, repair ships. There's all sorts of us back home.
no subject
Still... An aircraft carrier.]
...Huh. [...] You know, I guess I can see how that would happen... I'm in a military myself, back home, and I've served on a few different ships. Spaceships though, mostly. And one submarine for a bit, though that was sort of incidental...
[While he's talking, he finishes firing up the Buster. The robot lights up, eyes gleaming green and color spreading across it's chassis as its phase shift armor kicks on.]
no subject
Can't imagine you enjoyed it too much, a pilot being cooped up under water.
[ Granted there's carrier submarines but those usually only have one or two little scout planes, not heavy war machines like the Buster. ]
Are you from the same military as Asuka-kun, by any chance?
[ A casual question as she notes how powering on the Buster brings color to the machine. That is interesting and surely for more than just cosmetic reasons, she's sure. Maybe it's something like equipping rigging is for kansen, a form of armor or indication of energy levels perhaps? ]
no subject
While they're having this little conversation, he directs the Buster to pick up the beam tomahawk, which of course it is able to do with ease.]
Ah. You met Shinn already, huh?
[he calls all of the Destiny era kids by their given names, because he's rude and also he's got a few years seniority on them anyway.]
Kinda depends on what he told you; I'm a Lieutenant with ZAFT. That's where Shinn got his start as well, buuuuut he works with a different organization called COMPASS now.
no subject
[ Dearka definitely gives off a lieutenant vibes but in the good way. More a Lieutenant Moreau than a Lieutenant Dan, not that Kaga knows who either of those people are.
More importantly! Look at that big ol beam axe! That seems extremely useful though maybe not great against organic opponents? Sure you'd be able to take an arm off but the wound wouldn't lead to them bleeding out, in theory. (She will later wish she'd been hit with one of these instead of a god damned chainsaw.) ]
Let me guess. Some sort of peace keeper organization? [ Because if anyone gives off the vibe of "I'm going to leave the real military to HELP PEOPLE in the watchdog military" it's Shinn. Bless his heart. ]
no subject
As for COMPASS...]
Yep. Got it in one.
[He gives the axe a few swings from a safe distance, not really sure what to do with it now that it's on. It's not like there are targets in here he can practice on.]
...Dunno how effective it'll actually be, [especially after some recent events, cough,] but... Miss Lacus believes in it. And I want to believe in her. Our world's seen more than enough warfare as is.
