[ Yuji sighs, lifting a hand up to kiss the knuckle gently. ]

I'm mad at you, but I'm not abandoning you.

[Raidou lets out a soft noise at that, head still turned away, too shamed to look at him.]

You're too good to me

I'm not.

[ Yuji leans in, resting his chin on his arms, still holding on to Raidou. ]

You have to stay away from him. You have to promise me.

[It takes considerable effort on his part, and obviously pain no matter how much he tries to hide it, but Raidou finally turns his head to look at Yuji.]

[ Yuji relaxes more, squeezing Raidou's hand. ]

[Time and time again, Raidou gets scolded here about his recklessness regarding his own safety. He doesn't know any other way to be. He doesn't know how to turn off that instinct. The buildup of the things he'd gone through back home and while here have caused him to hurt others here, even if accidentally, and even completely wrecked his relationship with another Outsider recently.

He doesn't want to be like this. He wants to help others, he wants to be the one to make sure they don't hurt. It's his job to take the hurt. But when it gets this bad, is taken this far, what is he supposed to do? What hurts more - seeing others suffer, or seeing the suffering of those who care about him when something like this happens?

Hearing Yuji say that is crushing, because he knows he probably will get hurt like this again. His eyes squeeze shut.]

I know, Johei. I get it.

[ Yuji strokes his fingers gently over Raidou's knuckles, hesitating only for a moment. ]

I know you can fight him. I know you could probably keep trying and do something like win, or beat him, or push him to his limits. But you shouldn't have to, and he should be trying to keep to - whatever this place offered him.

[ He breathes out. ]

This isn't a fight you need to be strong enough for. It's a fight we should all be trying to avoid.

[Maybe now Sukuna would have to be on their side. Raidou couldn't even kill him anyway, none of the Outsiders could, thanks to LILITH's intervention. A fact forgotten by Raidou in the heat of the moment.]
