( OPEN ) FIGHTING CRIME BY MOONLIGHT

WHO: Every Outsider interested!
WHAT: Catch-all log for cleaning up (or making more of a mess of) Neo Tokyo's crime scene! Refer to the OOC post here for details. Neo Tokyo's current social and political climate can be found under the World / Setting section here.
WHERE: Neo Tokyo, Japan.
WHEN: Nov 2024 & onward.
WARNINGS: Violence, drug use, threats and coercion … whatever else that happens where crime and criminal activity are involved. Please mark for other CWs if necessary!

From the month of November and onward, Outsiders can find recruitment posters around the base for a specialised subsection of an anonymous Neo Tokyo security agency! Feel free to assume that's where most of the directives come from.

Current quests relating to this player plot can be found under < STREET FIGHTER > and < RISE AND THRIVE > on the QUEST BOARD.

People are free to use this log or their own for open and closed starters. However, if you'd like to contribute to the quest chain or setting changes, please remember to eventually submit your links and a summary under the associated quests! Otherwise, go wild!

[ It's difficult to resist throwing Silco A Look for those words. He doesn't need a wingman here! What is this guy trying to get at? The last thing he wants is to be left alone with an old bastard whose hands won't stop wandering now that he's getting more and more drunk.

He hates this, actually. Every second of it. The man's breath reeks of expensive liquor, his words slurring around the edges. He's pretty loose-lipped already, but not as much as they need him to be.

Jinwoo plays along, following after the openings Silco left behind to ask the right questions. He's even allowing the man's hand to brush against his arm, his shoulder— just enough to make him seem interested even when he'd rather sock this guy right in the face.

Eventually, the VIP starts talking. The alcohol helps, the ego even more so. He brags about the people he knows, the businesses who owe him favours. Certain names keep coming up again and again: Silver Altitude. Sapphire Room. The latter rings a bell so Jinwoo risks sending Silco a message. ]

Is that what we need?

[ Or do they need the guy to talk some more? ]

[ Silco's just playing a part, but he lets the man keep talking. There's a quick dart of his eyes toward Jinwoo when he starts talking about the people, the "businesses". These criminals. They're so terribly sloppy, and uncontrolled. If Finn or Renni had done something like this, he would have killed them on the spot, if not had them used as an example for the one that came after.

He should do that to this one. Maybe eventually.

He'll certainly remember his name. Perhaps he'll find reason to upend him, and have him slaughtered.

It isn't that Silco is particularly bloodthirsty, but that he knows one kind of retribution. It is absolute, and it is permanent.

Jinwoo messages him, and Silco's eyepatch covers the shimmer of his eye flaring from it. He offered him a slight, nearly imperceptible nod.

This would do.

[ Luckily, his risk pays off.

The VIP is too busy posturing that he doesn't notice the dim glow of the ocular as Jinwoo's message is received. He catches Silco's nod, and that's all it takes to dissipate the tension in his shoulders. He doesn't allow his relief to show, but it's there— just a subtle exhale through the nose, his fingers loosening ever so slightly on his glass. They have what they need, so he can start extracting himself from the situation without raising suspicion.

He lets the conversation linger a little longer, offering a few more empty reassurances. The man is too far gone to notice the shift in his demeanour, but he makes sure to play things carefully. No need to blow his cover now that they're done here.

Eventually, he leans in, murmuring something about needing to freshen up, before promising to be back soon. The man's fingers try to linger on his wrist, but Jinwoo slips free easily, his movements smooth and practiced. He doesn't look back as he heads toward the exit of the VIP section.

Now it's just a matter of waiting for Silco to follow after him. Just in case. ]
