TEAM BUILDING EVENT #3
TEAM BUILDING EVENT #3
▶ 001. WELL DESERVED REST.
With no sign of upcoming city-level threats, LILITH has made the decision to provide Outsiders with a well-deserved break: there will be no official missions for the month of December. Outsiders are free to roam the city, continue their usual civilian jobs or take a holiday to any of the locations available via data portal. During this period, LILITH leadership will also be taking time off and any attempts to contact them will be met with an ‘out of office’ return email unless it is an emergency. (Dr. Spim is still around, but … he is a cat and doesn’t answer anyway... unless he feels like it.)
That isn’t to say it’s going to be a completely quiet month, of course. Our players have kindly prepared several player plots that anyone is welcome to join. Please refer to the top level here for links to the relevant plots. An updated quest has also been listed here.
Additionally, the Outsiders Program has successfully finished its first year! LILITH will be giving all Outsiders old and new a thank you bonus of 500,000 KRYPTOS (approximately 3230 USD) to spend freely on their holiday. Try not to spend it all on pachinko!

▶ 002. LET IT SNOW.
Starting December 1st, the temperature in Neo Tokyo will take a dive as the country enters into winter. The first signs of snowfall will occur on December 1st, and as it continues, the city will be transformed into a winter wonderland. The shops and restaurants of Neo Tokyo are capitalizing on the approaching festivities, putting up Christmas lights, Christmas trees and decorations. Many stores are having sales on warm clothing and popular gifts. Isn’t it the perfect time to find some nice gifts for your friends?
While only a suggestion, it is encouraged to support the integration of the orphans from Transylvania by taking them out on a winter adventure.
Winter activities found in Neo Tokyo include:
- Christmas Winter Illuminations. Certain parts of the city will be lit up in Christmas lights and holographic, winter-themed illuminations. Stop by at the right time and there might even be a drone show to watch.
- Ice sculpture building. Artists have gathered in Yoyogi Park to showcase their latest ice sculpture creations. Outsiders may view the attraction or join in on the ice sculpture contest. Winners will get prize money.
- Ice-skating. The Yokohama Red Brick Ice Rink is open again and characters are free to go skating with their friends. As a part of its latest attraction, the ice has been fitted with microscopic nanobots that light up when touched, causing the ice to glow or showcase striking colors as people skate across it.
- Playing in the snow. Even under threat of kaiju, the people of Neo Tokyo take the time to have fun when they can. Through the streets, there are people making snow angels or pelting each other with snowballs.
Characters may visit Las Vegas, Kyoto or Okinawa using the data portals. Kyoto and Okinawa continue to be uninhabited, but they can camp there if they wish. They are free to book a hotel and enjoy their holiday in Las Vegas too, where the city will have its own brand of winter activities (winter illuminations, Christmas shows, ice-skating and holiday-themed Vegas shows). While the weather is still cold, it will be snowing in Kyoto but not in Okinawa or Las Vegas.

▶ 003. SNUGGLE UP.
All the lights and festivities happening in the city are putting some strain on the power grid, and this leads to occasional bouts of power failure during the month of December. These seem to be happening in the base and throughout the city of Neo Tokyo, and they last for a few hours each time. With hospital equipment running on back-up generators, it isn’t a huge cause for concern, but it certainly is an annoyance; especially with the weather so cold.
LILITH robots will be offering Outsiders on the base extra blankets (traditional and emergency foil blankets) along with heat packs to get through the cold. Starting a fire within the base will not be allowed since it is a hazard, so those who still need the extra warmth will need to find other creative ways to obtain it. A snuggle never hurt anyone, right? There is one operational fireplace in the Library, and Outsiders may notice an influx of small tables throughout the base with self-serve hot beverages on battery operated kettles, such as tea, hot cocoa & artificial coffee. As Outsiders congregate around the base, snuggled up in their new festive blankets, perhaps now would be a good time for some classic party games such as Never Have I Ever and Two Truths and a Lie.

▶ 004. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE.
Dr. Spim takes regular cat naps anyway, so he doesn’t see the need to take a holiday. As a result, he has continued to work tirelessly on finetuning the cure for the vampiric disease. Throughout the month, he will make several requests for volunteers (those with and without the vampiric disease) to participate in the ongoing clinical trials.
The serum he is testing will not cause harm to the body, but it might result in any of the following side effects:
- Dizziness, fatigue and difficulty coordinating movement.
- Fever, chills and a desperate need for warmth.
- Mood changes, which can present as euphoric or depressed or both.
- Hallucinations or delusions.
- Increased hunger, thirst or other physical needs (interpret as you wish.)
- A ravenous need for blood (for vampires.)
Certain volunteers may encounter no side effects at all, while some may experience all of them. Luck of the draw, really. The side effects are not permanent and last for a few hours. As always, Dr. Spim will explain the possible side effects and get consent before administering the medicine.
By the end of the month, a stable cure will be finalized and LILITH robots will deliver it to all those affected by the vampiric disease (if your character was already a vampire, don't worry about it). It is highly encouraged to take the medicine! Dr. Spim has no time to chase down the people refusing to take their medicine, so he might pay some of their friends to do it for him. He is a cat. He has better things to do (such as knock this beaker off the table….)
As an OOC note, please do not let your character remain a vampire unless they are already a vampiric character. The vampire event in Transylvania was meant to only have temporary effect.

▶ 005. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our third team building event! All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards December AC.
We have a lot of player plots this month, and are using this log to encourage players to participate in the player plots since the event itself is light. As a reminder, the mod team will be taking a break during the month of December and will not be answering any questions at this time.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. WELL DESERVED REST: Outsiders enjoy a quiet month with no kaiju attacks, but are provided plenty of things to do (via player plots) and they are welcome to use the data portal to travel to Okinawa and Las Vegas at this time.
2. LET IT SNOW: Heavy snowfall turns Neo Tokyo into a winter wonderland with many snow related activities to participate in such as ice skating, ice sculpture making, etc. LILITH encourages the Outsiders to allow the misplaced orphans to participate in some of these activities.
3. SNUGGLE UP: The power outages strike again, this time from too many festive lights that overheat the generators. LILITH provides Outsiders with emergency blankets and hot beverages during times of outages.
4. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE: Dr. Spim trial runs an antidote for the vampiric disease that struck Outsiders during their mission in Brasov. He takes volunteers who are both vampires and not. Finally, a cure is made, and all Outsiders are asked to take it (please do not let your character remain a vampire unless they are already a vampiric character.)
002
What he's not expecting to see when he's on his way out after dropping food inside is Godzilla as the one watching over them. It stops him, brow deeply furrowed and eyes cold. He keeps his voice low so the children don't hear.]
What are you doing here?
[In his flat tone, it's a question as much as an accusation.]
no subject
However he's been questioned in a challenging enough manner to warrant a response. ]
Your eyesight begins to take the same leave as your nerve, Summoner?
[ No name, no good natured "young" prefix. Ouch. Godzilla proceeds to snort in disdain, smoke curling out his nostrils. ]
I am standing, watching, assisting, as is obvious. If it is of issue then you may make off to alert Ratio and your fellow sycophants. I care little for your barking myself, they may find it of more amusement.
[ Big G's being the Big D today, apparently! ]
no subject
But those past comments Godzilla has made about these children, only to think he's fine being their babysitter? Why haven't the others said anything?
He's not taking it to anyone else. Not yet. It might be necessary, though.]
... You've made threats to these children. You should leave.
[Not a suggestion or an ask. A demand.]
no subject
Godzilla's expression turns sour instantly as he finally looks at Raidou. His eyes flash, literally lighting up with a pulse of pink light, and he peels his lips back to bare his teeth in a snarl. He's still got fangs but that's less a vampire thing and more a "Godzilla isn't great at the small details of shapeshifting" thing at this point. ]
I am Godzilla. I go where I please, when I please. The petulant mewling of a spineless whelp is no deterrent to myself.
[ He turns his gaze back to the children he's watching over, waving a hand dismissively in Raidou's direction. ]
If my presence is of such concern than you have my leave to remove yourself from this place. My encouragement to do as such in fact, I find your speaking to be... tiresome.
no subject
But things in Neo Tokyo have been different, haven't they. Especially in the last few months. It's no secret that Raidou's been hanging by his last threads in many respects, either, with the way he's been acting.
Now is no different. To be repeatedly called spineless, especially by someone he used to respect, isn't something he's going to continue taking. He means it when it comes to getting Godzilla away from the children.
Raidou marches up to him, fists in balls at his side, and gets close enough so that he can address Godzilla without the children hearing.]
I'm not leaving. You are.
no subject
Godzilla looks at Raidou and proceeds to let out an exaggerated yawn. Keyword, almost impressed. The big guy rolls his shoulders and his neck, causing several things to pop audibly within his muscles and bones. ]
I ill-like thinly disguised threats, Summoner. If you seek to use force to get your way then challenge me direct, as is proper.
[ And then something happens that hasn't happened to anyone else yet. Godzilla smirks at Raidou, a full on smirk while putting a hand to the boy's shoulder and pushing him to the side as he attempts to step past him. ]
We are both aware of your inability in this, however. Best to return to the lair with your tail between your legs, yes? Perhaps one of your fellow sycophants shall indulge your barking so as to alleviate your frustrations.
no subject
There's a small part in the back of Raidou's brain that's telling that this feels like deliberate instigation, and that he shouldn't give in to such nonsense. He isn't without pride, though. Quite the opposite.]
Then how much more obvious do I have to make it?
[Instinctually, a hand crosses at his waist to reach for a sword that isn't there. Of course he's not coming to the orphanage armed.]
I don't answer to the other Outsiders.
[Besides, why would he want their opinion right now, as they've let Godzilla be here at all?
Reluctantly, he will let Godzilla pass if he wants to now, if his plan is to actually leave. Otherwise, he's ready to push this further if he needs to.]
I would sincerely hope you would not have this come to a show of force in front of these children. Though, perhaps I am giving you too much credit.
no subject
State it. I have little time or patience for your kind's need for allegory and allusion. State that you wish to battle me to secure my removal or be gone from my sight, whelp.
[ Oh not even getting Summoner now. Despite the fact that Godzilla is positively hissing his words he still manages to keep his voice level and quiet so as to not distress the children.
Another annoyed growl rumbles up in his throat as he carefully reaches into his pockets to retrieve his hammer space gloves, pulling them on one after the other while looking past Raidou. ]
Continue to offer insult and I shall break your neck. I am no base beast, I have no intent to battle where it may distress the young ones. If you were capable of the nerve I would gladly face you outdoors upon even footing, blade to blade rather than claw to your throat. Consider it a courtesy as my former instructor.
no subject
If it's a duel you want, then you'll have it. There are plenty of places in this city we can do this uninterrupted.
[Neo Tokyo is certainly not lacking in abandoned buildings and empty lots. There are plenty near the orphanage.
Raidou finally takes a step aside.]
I insist. You first.
no subject
Ah, do you indeed? So you may strike me with surprise as in our last interaction, one assumes?
[ With that little bit of rudeness Godzilla flags down one of the older orphans who, shockingly enough, comes over with only a little hesitation. ]
"Godzilla-sama...?"
I must take my leave for the remaining day. There is refuse which needs taking out, as they. Watch over the younger ones.
"Yes sir."
[ The youngster gives an incline of their head and receives a good natured clasp on the shoulder from Godzilla in turn before they head off. Godzilla spares Raidou a glance as he himself starts to head out. ]
The rules of our combat, Summoner. We shall not battle till one of us ends, as is obvious, LILITH would not allow this. The contest shall end once one is incapable of continuation, this is acceptable?
no subject
The child Godzilla calls over is only a couple of years younger than Raidou himself, only adding to the absurdity of this whole situation. But he simply follows after the other, glowering as he slips on his gloves. Makes sense that LILITH would probably interfere if things got two violent between Outsiders. Depends on how automatic the failsafes are, with LILITH members out on break.]
Agreed.
no subject
It is the challenger's role to decide on the ground of battle, I believe. Lead the way, I shall follow close.
no subject
[He marches towards one of the nearby abandoned apartment buildings, boarded up and crumbling. There's a path that leads around to the back of the building, where there's a clear area that may have once been a communal space, a yard or a playground for the residents. The ground is lightly dusted with snows that twists around their ankles in the breeze.
Raidou walks to the opposite end of the yard, drawing out his heirloom sword from his gloves without a word. His expression is cold and distant as ever, but those eyes are betraying what's burning underneath. He readies his stance, and waits for Godzilla to do the same. Time to see if what Raidou had taught him stuck.]
no subject
Godzilla does not bow to Raidou, you bow to an opponent you respect. He simply inhales as he takes own stance, blade held forward with both hands, eyes firmly locked on Raidou's, his back foot sliding to the side in preparation to start moving.
When he exhales Godzilla does a very ungodzilla like thing, he stands his ground. No rash charging, no growling, no posturing. He's not going to give Raidou the satisfaction of playing into being the angry beast here. ]
no subject
Raidou isn't afraid to rush him. His speed is his greatest asset. Snow swirls lightly in the air as it's kicked up around him, coming straight for Godzilla without hesitation, katana raised. With an opponent as strong as this one, carrying such a long sword, Raidou's best bet is is quick strikes to he can counter and dodge a weapon with such a long reach.
He's not going all out quite yet. With Raidou's own super strength factoring in now too, he knows this fight could go on for awhile. Best to conserve energy to not end this for himself too soon. He wants to win this. He has to win this. Raidou isn't usually one to care what others think of him, but to be continually disrespected as he has, after attempting to make amends, has been making him boil inside.
It remains to be seen how long he can keep this temper from taking over, though.]
no subject
He raises his sword to meet Raidou's a few seconds earlier than he might normally have, attempting to put the reach advantage to use to intercept before Raidou is even close enough to strike. In the same motion Godzilla steps to the side out of Raidou's path, pushing with his sword off in the direction the young man charges to further use his own speed.
Godzill also doesn't have a concept of "dirty fighting". Which is why he takes the moment to aim a stomp at Raidou's shin. ]
no subject
Raidou might be a proper swordsman by all appearances, but he's also a summoner. When it comes to winning a fight or keeping people safe, nothing's off the table. They command demons, after all, and many like him use guns alongside their blades.
His lips curl in a snarl at such an attempt, and he redoubles his effort. So much for conserving speed. Raidou wants to get behind Godzilla, or at least to his side, and swings low, aiming for his ankles. If he can get him off his feet, this battle will be over in no time.]
no subject
The big guy's preference for footware stops the blow from being too bad luckily. He growls as he hits the ground, hands catching himself and scooping at the snow, then he quickly springs back up.
Godzilla crushes the snow in his hand and flings towards Raidou's face as he spins around, using the same spinning momentum to aim his own attack at Raidou's side. At this point he's not aiming for anything specific, he doesn't expect to even connect, it's more to drive Raidou back than anything. ]
no subject
The attack is enough to send Raidou sliding away from the long weapon, and he decides that the second best course of action is to get that thing out of Godzilla's hands. His weapon is shorter range, so he's going to have to risk getting in closer to do so.
Raidou attempts to use the momentum from dodging that to come at him from the other angle, hoping to be faster than Godzilla can swing the sword that way. His aim this time for his hands - if not hitting them, then the guard of the odachi, to force it out of Gozilla's hands.]
no subject
Rather than trying to deflect or dodge the blow Godzilla steps into Raidou's attack, taking the sword on his shoulder. He lets out a snarl as metal bites through clothing and into his flesh but he doesn't slow down, in the same movement he attempts to headbutt Raidou.
Should the blow connect and get Godzilla some space he'll follow up with an overhead strike using the full force of his weight. If Raidou remains in his space he'll attempt to simply punch the swordsman in the chest. ]
no subject
The sword comes out along with him as he staggers back with a grunt. It doesn't hurt Raidou as much as it might have otherwise, thanks to his nanotech, but it's still a bit disorienting when you're not expecting it. He only has enough time to block the overhead attack with an arm, taking the punch to the chest. That nanotech keeps a skinny thing like him from collapsing in a heap from that hit, but it hurts nonetheless, and he lets out a groan though clenched teeth.
He's furious now, too worked up to fight fair either. With his arms occupied, in order to get some distance between them, Raidou gives his opponent a fierce kick to the stomach.]
cw: body horror transformation
Fuck. This.
[ He cursed. Godzilla actually cursed.
He hasn't been taking this nearly seriously enough. Raidou isn't holding back, combining this with the enhancements LILITH has given the boy makes trying to fight him like a "human" a fool's errand. If the boy is giving it everything then Godzilla will too. This place is abandoned enough, he won't shackle himself down any longer.
The unsightly sound of cracking bone and unknitting and reknitting flesh fills the air in a way Raidou's witnessed once before. The man in front of him starts to grow from seven to a full ten feet, his skull contorts, his face widens into a reptilian snout. The spines that erupt from his back start to pulse pink in full threat display, the light leaking from Godzilla's eyes and gills as he straightens himself to his full height and shakes out his body.
This is better. He feels exhilarated as he slams his tail down onto the ground and lets out a growl. He has his tail, his elbow spikes, his claws, his teeth. Every weapon in Godzilla's arsenal is now at his disposal, alongside his odachi which is now more proportional to his body. So much so he switches it to a single handed grip, transferring it to his left hand and spinning it experimentally. His other hand beckons Raidou with an almost taunting motion. ]
Come. Let us battle as our true selves. Do not hold back.
no subject
He's fought things bigger and scarier than this. Things that threatened the very fabric of his city and his world. The stakes here were not so high. This is a battle that's meant to be savored, instead. The fact that Godzilla had to stop to revert to his true self is an encouraging sign to Raidou that he's on track to winning this. That he's showing his opponent just how strong and capable he truly is. Godzilla wanted to see that rage and passion from within this kid, and he's getting it.
Raidou's true self is just that, with the downside of being too reckless. He's never concerned with his own safety, even in a personal battle like this one without others to protect. When Godzilla tells him to not hold back, a grin flashes briefly across his face as he rushes the kaiju again. Look at all the weaponry his opponent has to bring just to fight him, a teenage boy with a sword.
In this form, Godzilla is a bigger target, but he's going to be harder to hurt, and his weapon only has a longer reach now. A challenge, to be sure. His best bet is to move faster than Godzilla can keep up with. Although there's a tail to contend with, his plan to move to Godzilla's back for attacks. Or so it seems, anyway. In the long run, his plan is to keep moving around his larger opponent, feinting and dodging attacks while making shallower ones himself. A plan to tire out and confuse his enemy as to where he might go next, and use that to his advantage to find an opening.]
no subject
Godzilla isn't foolish. He knows what he looks like to others in his true majesty, a lumbering reptilian beast. A creature more of raw power than speed or grace, while this is somewhat true, he's definitely not as agile on land as he is in the ocean, it's still a misjudgment. The big guy went and killed an entire uninvolved Titan so he could evolve past that lumbering form, he's plenty agile now!
When Raidou moves to his side Godzilla lashes out with a warning swing of his blade, though he doesn't turn to follow the human's movements. His back is mostly protected by his dorsal spines, a thrust could potentially find the spaces between them sure, but any movement to get that close would be one he could exploit, so he's not very worried about that. His opponent must surely be looking for an opening whilst distracting him...
The Titan gives that opening to Raidou. He begins to turn more to his left, bringing his right arm over in the movement, leaving his entire right side fully open to attack. It's a trap. If Raidou takes the bait he'll find that pulled back right arm being swung his way, the sharpened spike on Godzilla's elbow aimed right for him. ]
no subject
... Or at least, that was the plan. He brings the sword down, and suddenly, his arm stops. The sword hits the scales, and should have gone through, but it seems LILITH's technology has decided that this fight is starting to go a little far. Raidou's arm shakes, and is taken by surprise as this has never happened to him. He's never fought an Outsider in earnest like this.
It's just a moment before he tries to let go and get that spike out of his stomach for Godzilla to make a move.]
