CONTENT WARNINGS: medical content

▶ 001. WELL DESERVED REST.

With no sign of upcoming city-level threats, LILITH has made the decision to provide Outsiders with a well-deserved break: there will be no official missions for the month of December. Outsiders are free to roam the city, continue their usual civilian jobs or take a holiday to any of the locations available via data portal. During this period, LILITH leadership will also be taking time off and any attempts to contact them will be met with an ‘out of office’ return email unless it is an emergency. (Dr. Spim is still around, but … he is a cat and doesn’t answer anyway... unless he feels like it.)

That isn’t to say it’s going to be a completely quiet month, of course. Our players have kindly prepared several player plots that anyone is welcome to join. Please refer to the top level here for links to the relevant plots. An updated quest has also been listed here.

Additionally, the Outsiders Program has successfully finished its first year! LILITH will be giving all Outsiders old and new a thank you bonus of 500,000 KRYPTOS (approximately 3230 USD) to spend freely on their holiday. Try not to spend it all on pachinko!

▶ 002. LET IT SNOW.

Starting December 1st, the temperature in Neo Tokyo will take a dive as the country enters into winter. The first signs of snowfall will occur on December 1st, and as it continues, the city will be transformed into a winter wonderland. The shops and restaurants of Neo Tokyo are capitalizing on the approaching festivities, putting up Christmas lights, Christmas trees and decorations. Many stores are having sales on warm clothing and popular gifts. Isn’t it the perfect time to find some nice gifts for your friends?

While only a suggestion, it is encouraged to support the integration of the orphans from Transylvania by taking them out on a winter adventure.

Winter activities found in Neo Tokyo include:

- Christmas Winter Illuminations. Certain parts of the city will be lit up in Christmas lights and holographic, winter-themed illuminations. Stop by at the right time and there might even be a drone show to watch.
- Ice sculpture building. Artists have gathered in Yoyogi Park to showcase their latest ice sculpture creations. Outsiders may view the attraction or join in on the ice sculpture contest. Winners will get prize money.
- Ice-skating. The Yokohama Red Brick Ice Rink is open again and characters are free to go skating with their friends. As a part of its latest attraction, the ice has been fitted with microscopic nanobots that light up when touched, causing the ice to glow or showcase striking colors as people skate across it.
- Playing in the snow. Even under threat of kaiju, the people of Neo Tokyo take the time to have fun when they can. Through the streets, there are people making snow angels or pelting each other with snowballs.

Characters may visit Las Vegas, Kyoto or Okinawa using the data portals. Kyoto and Okinawa continue to be uninhabited, but they can camp there if they wish. They are free to book a hotel and enjoy their holiday in Las Vegas too, where the city will have its own brand of winter activities (winter illuminations, Christmas shows, ice-skating and holiday-themed Vegas shows). While the weather is still cold, it will be snowing in Kyoto but not in Okinawa or Las Vegas.

▶ 003. SNUGGLE UP.

All the lights and festivities happening in the city are putting some strain on the power grid, and this leads to occasional bouts of power failure during the month of December. These seem to be happening in the base and throughout the city of Neo Tokyo, and they last for a few hours each time. With hospital equipment running on back-up generators, it isn’t a huge cause for concern, but it certainly is an annoyance; especially with the weather so cold.

LILITH robots will be offering Outsiders on the base extra blankets (traditional and emergency foil blankets) along with heat packs to get through the cold. Starting a fire within the base will not be allowed since it is a hazard, so those who still need the extra warmth will need to find other creative ways to obtain it. A snuggle never hurt anyone, right? There is one operational fireplace in the Library, and Outsiders may notice an influx of small tables throughout the base with self-serve hot beverages on battery operated kettles, such as tea, hot cocoa & artificial coffee. As Outsiders congregate around the base, snuggled up in their new festive blankets, perhaps now would be a good time for some classic party games such as Never Have I Ever and Two Truths and a Lie.

▶ 004. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE.

Dr. Spim takes regular cat naps anyway, so he doesn’t see the need to take a holiday. As a result, he has continued to work tirelessly on finetuning the cure for the vampiric disease. Throughout the month, he will make several requests for volunteers (those with and without the vampiric disease) to participate in the ongoing clinical trials.

The serum he is testing will not cause harm to the body, but it might result in any of the following side effects:

- Dizziness, fatigue and difficulty coordinating movement.
- Fever, chills and a desperate need for warmth.
- Mood changes, which can present as euphoric or depressed or both.
- Hallucinations or delusions.
- Increased hunger, thirst or other physical needs (interpret as you wish.)
- A ravenous need for blood (for vampires.)

Certain volunteers may encounter no side effects at all, while some may experience all of them. Luck of the draw, really. The side effects are not permanent and last for a few hours. As always, Dr. Spim will explain the possible side effects and get consent before administering the medicine.

By the end of the month, a stable cure will be finalized and LILITH robots will deliver it to all those affected by the vampiric disease (if your character was already a vampire, don't worry about it). It is highly encouraged to take the medicine! Dr. Spim has no time to chase down the people refusing to take their medicine, so he might pay some of their friends to do it for him. He is a cat. He has better things to do (such as knock this beaker off the table….)

As an OOC note, please do not let your character remain a vampire unless they are already a vampiric character. The vampire event in Transylvania was meant to only have temporary effect.

▶ 005. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our third team building event! All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards December AC.

We have a lot of player plots this month, and are using this log to encourage players to participate in the player plots since the event itself is light. As a reminder, the mod team will be taking a break during the month of December and will not be answering any questions at this time.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)

1. WELL DESERVED REST: Outsiders enjoy a quiet month with no kaiju attacks, but are provided plenty of things to do (via player plots) and they are welcome to use the data portal to travel to Okinawa and Las Vegas at this time.

2. LET IT SNOW: Heavy snowfall turns Neo Tokyo into a winter wonderland with many snow related activities to participate in such as ice skating, ice sculpture making, etc. LILITH encourages the Outsiders to allow the misplaced orphans to participate in some of these activities.

3. SNUGGLE UP: The power outages strike again, this time from too many festive lights that overheat the generators. LILITH provides Outsiders with emergency blankets and hot beverages during times of outages.

4. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE: Dr. Spim trial runs an antidote for the vampiric disease that struck Outsiders during their mission in Brasov. He takes volunteers who are both vampires and not. Finally, a cure is made, and all Outsiders are asked to take it (please do not let your character remain a vampire unless they are already a vampiric character.)

[Honestly getting stabbed would be the least horrible thing to happen to Donnie in his life! He has almost been eaten before, and the whole (suppressed) trauma of becoming a spaceship for a more recent thing. A stabbing might be refreshing to the turtle.]

Unimpressive. She actually scoffs and shrugs in a "it can't be helped" kind of way. ]

Completely misplaced though. I'll expect to find you face down in the gutter next time I walk through.

[ Kaga is not the ideal image of a shrine maiden in any way once she starts talking. It makes you wonder what she's like at work... ]

Yeah, you'll probably be waiting a long time for that to happen.

[And compared to Raph, Donnie is pretty unimpressive, he knows this. But he also knows what he can do, and this lady is just being stupid in his mind.

Also he has no idea what a shrine maiden is, or looks like. So he can't even be bothered by the contrast of the ideal and Kaga.]

Anyway, I need to get some actual warm clothing. If you're done being useless, I'll be going.

[ She's tempted to put you in that gutter herself, punk! But hey Kaga's apparently done here! She shrugs, walks on, gets on with her day.

And then the petty bitch launches a sneak attack. Turns on her heel and flicks a low powered ball of flame at Donnie's back, something low powered and innocuous enough she could pass it off as an implanted weapon.

If it lands it'll proceed to instantly dissipate, striking like a snowball weighed down with rocks or ice but Hot instead of cold. ]

[Oh Donnie just scoffs, as he does... By saying scoff, before he also turns to leave.

So Kaga's sneak attack will hit Donnie on the back, except one thing. He never goes anywhere without his battle shell on, even while cloaked. So if the ball has mass to it? There might be a slight sound of it connecting with metal if so, but either way?

Donnie doesn't even react, because he can't feel shit through the protective metal shell on his back. Instead he's just back to trying to find like, a clothing store or Neo Tokyo Walmart.]

[ There is indeed a ping before that fireball disappears. Kaga is

Surprised. And displeased. That brat just keeps walking on like nothing happened! Is her magic on the fritz? Can't be... only one way to find out.

Which is to toss another fireball at the back of Donnie's head. At least she's "nice" and reduces the size of it to about the size of a pebble. ]

[Donnie is not what one would call the best ninja, sure he can hold his own when he has a bo staff and is pretty close to highly skilled in bojutsu. But that's not the situation he finds himself in, and it's only by luck that he turns his head slightly at just the right time.

The pebble sized fireball is seen, and gets a yelp and the teenager ducking as best as he can to avoid it hitting him full on. It does still connect though, and earns an "ow" from him before he's looking around and then saying outloud;]

I though Outsiders were supposed to be covert when off base?

[ Kaga has to fight really, really hard to keep a smile off her face. Instead she just raises an eyebrow and tilts her head slightly to the side. ]

Huh...? I don't know what you're talking about.

[ So he's an Outsider is he? She doesn't recognize him. Maybe the voice is a tiny bit familiar? But who can really say!

Rather than dwell on that Kaga simply shakes back her right sleeve to better show off the robotic black hand underneath. There is nothing about her prosthetic that tries to hide what it is, the damn thing has visible doll-like joints. ]

My arm must be malfunctioning again. I apologize if you were struck by it.

Playing stupid is an ugly thing to do, you know?

[Just going right for it, and don't mind him rolling his eyes at her "excuse". he's not buying it.]

Maybe actually pay for something that's not crap then, if it malfunctions enough that you're aware of it.

[ Wow she's not even trying now. She says that before she flings another little ball of blue flame in Donnie's direction. She flings it from her fully organic hand too.

Yeah she's just being a jerk at this point. ]

I'd rather not replace it. The little quirk adds to the charm, don't you think?

[ Plus getting it attached in the first place was Unpleasant. ]

[See now that Donnie can see it coming? He can dodge a lot better, which he does. By crouching low.]

No, it just makes you look like a dummy.

[And since he's down here, he's, as much as he hates it because it's not the nicest snow, quickly making a snowball to chuck right at Kaga in retaliation.]

[ Ohoho! He's got some decent moves on him! His trash talk is a little... adolescent, but still! ]

Says the boy who was standing in the middle of the path oblivious.

[ Kaga raises her prosthetic arm to intercept the flying snowball, although the spray still gets her in the face. It makes her growl, she's not happy about that!

On the plus side Donnie's kind of deescalated the situation here by bringing snow into it. She proceeds to pack her own snowy projectile and toss it Donnie's way. ]

[Well he is a teenager. Also he doesn't swear.]

I've only left New York once in my life, and it wasn't to Japan. So excuse me for not wanting to get lost.

[He shoots back, and man it's a good thing he is kind of big on staying cloaked off base. Or else Kaga would be facing all six of Donnie's arms slinging snow, the four extra being robotic and from his battle shell. And he doesn't make an attempt to avoid the snowball or block, instead focusing on his next one to chuck at Kaga's head this time.]

[ Gonna have to teach him how to swear, noted. ]

New York...? Ugh, Eagle Union. That explains everything.

[ Every major pain in her life comes from the Eagle Union so it stands to reason the mirrors of it would produce similar annoyances!

Speaking of pain! She's so busy grousing about the Union that Donnie manages to nail her square in the forehead. This makes her stumble with a very undignified fox-like yelp.

And then she's laughing. It's one of those kind of dark semi-blood thirsty laughs though, and it's followed by a pitch likewise directed at Donnie's skull. ]

I'm more than dece-- [And that is snow right in the face, and getting into his mouth.

His reaction is immediate, there is sputtering and gagging because he isn't sure where that snow has been and it is gross and disgusting. In fact it's taking everything in Donnie to just not puke right here and now, but boy howdy he sure is making noises like he's going to.]

[ As much of a violent somewhat blood-thirsty bitch as Kaga is even she feels bad for the rather... intense reaction Donnie goes through. Not that she can blame him because, well, ew. ]

Alright... I think that's a sign to stop.

[ She's actually going to try to check on him too, bless her! Approaching with her hands up where he can see them. ]

You going to be okay?

[When she comes closer to him, Kaga will hear him saying that to himself as he spits some more and follows it up with some deep breaths. If she tries to touch him though?]

Don't touch me! I'm fine.

[ Luckily for Donnie Kaga wasn't about to get all touchy, she's kind of too mystified by how he's referring to himself. What an odd guy.

Still, she takes a step back while rolling her eyes. ]

Clearly.

[Be glad he hasn't called himself "daddy" yet. He makes a few more gagging sounds before he's taking some deep breaths and... takes note that she's still there.]

... ugh. You saw nothing, okay?

[Normally he's good at not having something like this happen, but maybe it's the whole being alone and the holiday season got him in a state or something.]

[ Yeah if he called himself "daddy" she'd probably have to kick his ass on principle... ]

Mhm. Not a thing.

[ She shakes her head and then beckons him on. ]

Alright, come along. Let's get you some proper clothes.

[ And now she's decided she's helping him shop, apparently? The mind of a KAN-SEN is truly an enigma. ]

Also Donnie would probably enjoy the ass kicking from Kaga.]

[He is. Not following her, he knows how this goes! He's not getting mugged or something.]

[ Donnie might get to experience it one day then... Kaga's a bitch.

Until then though she's just stopping and giving him a look, hands on her hips. ]

[ That sounds almost like an order... ]

And he's seen that look! He has an (adopted) older sister even!]
