CONTENT WARNINGS: natural disaster, destruction of city, blood, gore, medical needles, toxic gas

▶ 001. SOMETHING IN THE SEA (KAGOSHIMA.)

It takes time to traverse the difficult terrain and fend off the corrupt wildlife but eventually, Redemption and Brimstone will arrive at the Ohsumi, where they will be sent coordinates to travel towards Sakurajima. There, they will find a very thin strip of land that forms a sandy and rocky path towards the island. They will be advised to wait until low tide when the path is easiest to cross.

Fortunately, as they wait, they will be largely undisturbed. The poison here is significantly more concentrated and any wildlife that lingers too long suffocates. For safety, Outsiders must continue wearing their protective suits to avoid the same fate.

Finally, the tide begins to recede and gives way to a rough and rocky path towards Sakurajima. The ground is hard and difficult to traverse; some parts are slippery with water. As they cross, a great tremor starts and the waters around them become turbulent. There isn't much to hold onto, but they're at high risk of falling into the sea especially when the land begins to rise.

When the tremors stop, there's a loud, hissing roar. The Outsiders will find themselves on the back of a giant turtle that is disguising itself as a small island. It appears this kaiju is the cause for the rift energy on this side of Japan.

NAME: Gigakame
HEIGHT: ???
WEIGHT: ???
CLASS: Extremely Dangerous
LOCATION: Kagoshima, Japan
ABILITIES: Breathes toxic gas, inner core is hot with magma, spits fire.
WEAKNESSES: Electricity, destroying and separating the turtle from its shell, filling the core with water.
EXTRA NOTES: This is a kaiju that has never been documented by LILITH before -- not much information can be provided. However, just like normal turtles, it uses its shell as a shield for defense and can be weakened if the shell is destroyed and torn from its body.

The Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.

Outsiders will be instructed to use water as their advantage as the creature uses fire and magma abilities. Electric attacks will weaken it, but the key is to tear off its shell from its body. Outsiders will be instructed to try this tactic, and after everyone's effort, the Gigakame will be defeated.

▶ 002. KAGOSHIMA AFTERMATH.

The Gigakame washes up on shore dead. The bizarre weather begins to normalize, but the poisonous miasma still lingers. Outsiders disembark to Kagoshima's base to depart and assist their other team mates.

Thanks to the clear weather, it's much easier to return to Kagoshima's research base. There, the researchers reveal they have a few emergency teleporters which are only allowed to be used during an emergency. Presumably, there are just enough to evacuate the researchers, but unfortunately, there are more Outsiders. The staff admit they probably won't have enough power to warp everyone safely; they guarantee that the first handful to go through will arrive in Tokyo with minimal issue, but the more they push their machines, the worse the side effects they'll suffer.

Redemption and Brimstone must decide who to send forward first to assist. Either way, everyone on both teams will be successfully teleported to Neo Tokyo, though those who have drawn the shorter straw (literally or figuratively) will suffer more sickness than those who teleported sooner rather than later.

▶ 003. SOMETHING IN THE SKY (TOKYO.)

While a huge sigh of relief sweeps the country when the kaiju in Kagoshima is defeated, there’s no actual time to relax. Outsiders will be ushered to go through the makeshift portals and/or are encouraged to find other means of arriving at the outskirts of Tokyo immediately. The Imugi has been spotted, and time cannot be wasted-- this is due to the influx of rift energy that is surrounding the city of Tokyo. While LILITH did complete the basic evacuation measures for the citizens of Neo Tokyo, there’s still an ominous air around the city and it’s not just from the rift poisoning, either. With small rifts cropping up here and there within the city, appearing and disappearing, the LILITH base is the most likely target for the Imugi.

While the hatchlings were moved to different facilities for safekeeping and monitoring, the Imugi seems largely uninterested in chasing them at present. The Imugi is resolved in its movements, and no amount of mimicking the hatchlings' vital readings can sway the Imugi off its intended path. As expected, within three hours of the initial fluctuations in rift energy, the Imugi appears at the emptied base. Similar to its behavior in Seoul, it sweeps over the base erratically, almost as if enraged. Its state is a direct mirror of how it appeared when avenging its mate, and it seems this is just the start.

Utilizing the insurmountable amount of rift energy it has built up around Tokyo, it eventually releases a deafening sound that causes the hatchlings to react, drawn to their mother. They make their way through the rifts, traveling through them at her beckoning, only to end up at the basement of the base. Just like that, the Imugi sinks its large claws through the roof of the structure and destroys not just the base, but also its young.

The energy produced by this creates a devastating explosion that destroys parts of the base and some of the surrounding area. While there were limited casualties due to the evacuation efforts, the area is now heavy with rift poisoning and the Imugi has every intention of destroying the city. It becomes clear that it did not desire to chase its young, but to use them to exact revenge.

▶ 004. TOKYO AFTERMATH.

The storms increase in intensity as the Imugi circles around the sky of Neo Tokyo. Fortunately, its ire still appears to be largely focused on the area around the base, and so the torrential downpour and lightning only seems to reach around this immediate area. LILITH tries to keep this space contained, attempting to work on stabilizing some of the rifts in order to cut off the Imugi’s potential escape routes. In the meantime, they will offer Outsiders as many resources as necessary to remain in the fight. They will send in supplies occasionally, including their specialized energy drinks and medical equipment. The new injections they drop off are able to heal light wounds and minor injuries, which can be administered quickly on the field. They anticipate this to be a long battle and advise Outsiders to pace themselves and work together.

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: IMUGI ♀
HEIGHT: 1000 feet across, 30 feet high
WEIGHT: 2000kg
CLASS: Extremely Dangerous
LOCATION: Neo Tokyo, Japan
ABILITIES: Control over weather conditions, including summoning of heavy storms, lightning strikes and hurricanes. Can fly up to 1000 feet. By flying amongst the clouds, Imugi releases chemicals into the atmosphere that bring about acid rain. Armored scales, sharp teeth and claws.
WEAKNESSES: Piercing it in the gaps between its impenetrable scales. There is also a particularly weak spot under on it's neck that will deal significant damage if pierced.
EXTRA NOTES: From its initial appearance and behavior, specialists believe that this female Imugi confirmed to be the mother of the hatchlings. This appears to be the female counterpart to the kaiju in Seoul that was killed by the Outsiders after causing havoc on South Korea. Despite them both being the same type of kaiju, likely derived from the same rift, this kaiju seems slightly more agile and openly aggressive.

By the latter half of the battle, all Outsiders should be accounted for in the final fight.

As expected, the battle lasts for over half a day and with the rift energy dwindling, the Imugi appears to be weakened. In fact, the Imugi has shrunk down to its original size prior to Seoul. Feeling its life is at risk, it uses the last of its energy to flee to the foot of Mt. Fuji. Fortunately, it doesn’t make it to the summit, and the Outsiders will be able to make quick work in pursuing it. For those that require it, ground vehicles and planes will be provided accordingly. Let's make sure it doesn't get away!

Upon arrival, they will see the final battlefront isn’t nearly that dramatic. The Imugi is significantly weakened, barely staving off attacks. Instead, it seems to focus on consolidating energy into its core while thrashing about. Eventually, a killing blow will be delivered but even then, it doesn't die easily. Similar to its young that were sacrificed, it appears to be using its own body to summon a final rift. Unfortunately, it cannot be stopped. Outsiders will be advised to temporarily retreat, after seeing the destruction that its young can do. The Imugi's body glows, increasing in intensity as it continues to gather energy. This is the warning to retreat. Within a matter of minutes, it self destructs, and a new rift is seen in its place. All Outsiders and LILITH are safe. The researchers immediately alert the area to be closed off for inspection.

Upon preliminary examination of this rift, they find that not only did it level a good portion of Mt. Fuji, but the power from it is unparalleled. Unlike the rifts they’ve encountered in prior battles, including their most recent venture in Transylvania, they discover this rift cannot be closed. What could this mean?

▶ 005. RE-GROUP.

With parts of the base destroyed and Neo Tokyo undergoing cleanup from the aftermath of the battle, Outsiders will be advised to take a break in the underground bunkers between Mt. Fuji and the city outskirts. As part of Mr. Fuji was also destroyed, some of the bunkers aren’t accessible, but Outsiders will find it is an entire maze of a city beneath the surface. If one traverses far enough, they will find it even connects to the amusement park that they saved last year. Exploration aside, Outsiders will be provided medical assistance and anything else required, and LILITH staff that are on hand will remain devoted to getting things back on track.

In the meantime, Outsiders can utilize whatever supplies are available and use the rooms at the Kyoto base freely. Each room contains anywhere from 2-4 beds, and everyone will be encouraged not to be alone in case of another emergency, especially as the rift remains open at the base of Mt. Fuji. These rooms are set up like traditional houses rather than a flashy base, with sliding doors and tatami mats. Floor futons will be used instead of Western style beds. There is one communal and traditional bath house for all sexes to use, a makeshift medical area, and an underground market that have several restaurants... but the food options and quality of amenities are questionable. They are mostly run by gritty characters or A.I robots.

As the portal between Kyoto and Neo Tokyo is still active, for those who are still able to, they will be advised to assist in retrieving any Imugi parts that remain from the scuffle. While its main body is being contained and promptly dealt with by LILITH, there are parts and scales scattered around Neo Tokyo and the old base. All parts are to be bagged, marked, and returned to LILITH. It's hard to say just how much of LILITH's base was destroyed and Eiji Shiro along with Captain Yamakawa are evaluating the state of the base before sharing a detailed report of the destruction. Stay tuned until February 25th for a follow up post.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our sixth kaiju battle, and it's a double whammy!

There are two kaiju to attack this time. Please read the instructions at each header about how to play. Remember, you only have to fill out your attack information once and we will RNG a HIT or MISS result two times per character.

It is highly likely that if your character did not pack certain belongings with them that they could be amongst the rubble of the base. The state of the base will be explained in a follow up post on February 25th, but fret not, you may assume whatever items are still in tact and operational and can be retrieved shortly. If you'd like for items to be perished and destroyed, be our guest!

All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards February AC.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)

1. SOMETHING IN THE SEA (KAGOSHIMA): Teams Redemption and Brimstone arrive at the Ohsumi to receive coordinates to Sakurajima, where they must wait until low tide to cross. The poison in the area is significantly concentrated; Outsiders are advised to wear their suits to avoid suffocating like the rest of the wildlife. Once they are able to cross, they discover that the land they are on is not an island, but a giant turtle kaiju responsible for the influx of rift energy on this side of Japan. Outsiders will be instructed to use water against the kaiju and try to separate the shell from the body.

2. KAGOSHIMA AFTERMATH: After defeating the Gigakame, Outsiders will be instructed to join their other teammates in Tokyo via emergency teleporters located at the Kagoshima research base. There is a limited amount of power to warp everyone safely, and Outsiders must decide who to send through the teleporter first. Eventually both teams will safely arrive in Neo Tokyo, but those who have gone through the teleporter later may suffer more side effects.

3. SOMETHING IN THE SKY (TOKYO): The Imugi has been spotted in Tokyo with a large influx of rift energy and has its sights set on destroying the LILITH base. Although the hatchlings were moved to different facilities, they are inevitably drawn to their mother and travel through rifts to the empty Tokyo base; however, instead of a reunion, the hatchlings sacrifice themselves and the ensuing explosion destroys parts of the base and the surrounding area.

4. TOKYO AFTERMATH: The rematch with the Imugi and the Outsiders begin, with LILITH working on stabilizing rifts to cut off the Imugi's escape and sending in supplies in the form of energy drinks and new medical equipment. The battle lasts for over half a day, with the Imugi attempting to escape to Mt. Fuji, weakened to the point where it can't reach the summit. Outsiders are advised to retreat as the Imugi self-destructs and creates a new rift, one that can't be closed.

5. RE-GROUP: With parts of the base destroyed, Outsiders will temporarily stay in the underground bunkers between Mt. Fuji and the city outskirts. While Outsiders are provided medical assistance and anything else required, LILITH staff that are on hand will remain devoted to getting things back on track. Outsiders are welcome to help themselves to the limited amenities and room with others; however, sharing is encouraged and the food options are questionable. As the portal between Kyoto and Neo Tokyo is still active, some Outsiders may be asked to assist in retrieving Imugi parts. At this time, Eiji Shiro and Captain Yamakawa will assess the damage on the base before sharing a detailed report at a later time.

🌊 1. Something In the Sea

[Having stowed away with Redemption on the way out, our intrepid god is present for the battle against the Gigakame. Donning his divine covering that grants him flight, Yato zips around the turtle's head, dodging and weaving as it spits fire at the Outsiders, his water sword at the ready. Avoiding the toxic gas it also spews out, he slashes at its eye as he flits past, before landing on its neck near its shell where he jabs the blade into the space between skin and its outer armor. Once securely jammed in there, he starts to use the whole weight of his being to help pry a small opening in its defenses.

While holding it open, his head whips around for any other Outsiders nearby, yelling to them:]

Hey! Aim over here, would you?!

🐉 2. Tokyo Aftermath

[Midway through the battle, Yato is still cloaked in his divine garment so he can chase the Imugi through the sky, wielding his faux shinki bow Rekki in order to assault the creature with a rain of arrows in the midst of dodging the lightning strikes and weathering the storm. Weaving through the tempest just ahead of it, he takes aim at the Imugi's throat and lets loose a barrage of energy arrows that explode on impact, making the creature thrash about and roar.

While in the process of readying another attack, he looks away for a brief moment - but it's long enough for the Imugi's leg to come flying up and clock him clear in the side, sending him whirling through the sky in a downward spiral, yelling all the way. Maybe, hopefully, there's someone there to catch him? Help??]

🏢 3. Re-Group

[Tired, disheveled, and sick from the teleportation, Yato returns to base subdued in light of the destruction the Imugi has wrought. While it's not as bad a Seoul, the damage to the base and the death of the hatchlings is still enough to turn his stomach. He hadn't been all the keen on the damn buggers anyway, but still-- what the Imugi did isn't far off from what he'd expect from someone like his own father, valuing revenge over the lives of their children.

So it is that as Yato trudges around their new dwellings, his eyes remain downcast more often than not. He can be found in the communal bath house, soaking there longer than is necessary, to the point he starts looking a bit red in the face and pruney in the hands as he runs his fingers through his damp hair before slowly sinking beneath the surface of the water, disappearing for a long, long time.

...he hasn't drowned, has he?]

[ Looks like someone has been having similar thoughts to Ratio. He'd also come to the bath with the intention to fully submerge himself in the water to try and clear his mind. He'd caught traces of Yato disappearing into the water just as he'd entered the bath area, so once he washed up, he settled into the water close to the god.

And waited.

...

...gods... don't need to breathe, do they? And the water is hot enough to be a health concern if submerged in it for too long..... ]

[Normally, no, gods don't typically need to breathe. Although in this case Yato's not exactly godly status here... So it's kind of debatable whether or not submersing himself for so long is such a hot (hah) idea.

For a time there's no response to Ratio's call of his name. Not even a bubble indicating that he's been heard. Then, slowly, the crown of his head emerges, followed by his forehead, and eventually, his eyes. Still no nose or mouth, though. And he looks rather red in the face...]

Mmphpgh...

[At least he's still alive? And being his sorta usual dweeby self?]

Unless you wish to find yourself in the infirmary under Dr. Iki's care, I would advise you raise yourself immediately.

[ He's heard and seen enough to know that Hiyori is not particularly kind to Yato when he does something stupid, so what Ratio is promising isn't a reward, but a punishment from the god's own partner. ]

Phhbghh!

[For a moment that's the only reply Ratio gets, probably an unkind word given the expression on Yato's face. But after another few seconds, he finally pops out the rest of the way with a gasp and a sharp inhale, shoulders heaving as he catches his breath.]

You sure know how to get a guy where he's vulnerable, Doc. [He grumbles half to himself as he makes a princess rubber duck bob on the water's surface.]

How you holding up, anyway?

3. Re-Group Wildcard

[He hadn't been able to help Yato in the same way the god had the first time they fought the Imugi. In that he wasn't able to catch him after the guy got punted away by a stray leg. But Bakugo was able to pull up in his car where Yato hit the dirt and pull him in for a quick respite retreat before letting him back out into the battle. It's what he could do, but it wasn't an easy thing to swallow. His own limitations.

But even with those limits, he made sure the god was able to continue fighting. Made sure he got back as safe as possible. Made sure he was able to regroup with the rest until the met again. Bakugo encounters Yato again, and considering the hang of his hair and scent of water clinging to him, likely after his bath. He avoided the communal bath since it was co-ed, but looks as if he's had his own wash recently. A simple set of black t-shirt and black cargo pants as expected, his raven-hued compression sleeve swallowing his recovering arm. Bakugo's sitting beside a small fire, a few small multi-colored somethings skewered on metal pike and slowly turning over the flames.

He glances up at the god, then tilts his head in a slight invitation for him to come over.]

[Even if Bakugo hadn't had the ability to return the favor of playing catch, he'd been good enough to make sure to he recovered well enough afterwards. That's plenty for Yato, honestly. Getting to see that Bakugo was still able to play an active role despite his injuries; the kid probably growled and snarled the whole time, but that he kept himself out of the line of fire is ideal for his recovering body.

And Yato's glad to see he got himself cleaned up afterwards, too. He can't imagine it's easy doing even simple daily chores one-handed. At least he's doesn't have to tackle them alone. And now that they're both scrubbed down and free of grime, Yato concedes to join Bakugo where he's cooking... not quite happily as usual but still with a faint smile of acknowledgement of the offer. Crouching down, he eyes the rainbow hued food curiously, then glances towards the blond.]

Dare I ask what it is, or am I better off not knowing?

[He growled and snarled the whole damn time. But promises were promises and he didn't want his friends raging at him for trying to fight in person this time. So doing what he could in the meantime had to suffice. Yato's right; Katsuki got to play his own role and that would have to be enough until he was able to recover more. He's going to need to get his car detailed later on. A lot of blood and mess in the back seat from different rounds of evacuation and playing mobile medic.

Oy, he's able to get clean with one hand! It's not that hard. Getting his shirt and pants on is more challenging than he wants, but he manages. Sort of threads his bad arm through the bottom opening and out the sleeve, then works the entire thing up to his shoulder, then pulls it over his head and shoves his good arm through the other sleeve before pulling it down. There. It's the compression sleeve he needs others to help him either.]

Tofu and root vegetables. I didn't trust the meat. [Potatoes, carrots, blocks of tofu, turnips, diced and chopped into similar-sized pieces to skewer. He hands Yato another long metal skewer and gestures to the bowl of colored cubes/slices, glistening with a thin coating of oil and salt/pepper. Basic of basic.] Grab what you want. It's all mixed up.

[Grousing about being sidelined is only about what they can expect from Katsuki, honestly. It was asking a lot for him to stay out of the main line of fire and simply provide support through alternative means, given what a literal big damn hero he is. But he did and everyone is undoubtedly relieved for it. One less injured person for them to worry about during their battle against the Imugi.

Hey, even with two hands it can be difficult to reach certain spots on one's back! That's why people invented back brushes. But with that, yeah, he probably manages just fine, even if things take a bit longer than normal. Slow and steady and all that. As long as he doesn't get stuck in his shirt and tumble down some stairs, it's all good.]

Sounds good. Don't blame you for that, though. Could be anything, knowing the state of things... [Taking the skewer, he starts threading bits of food onto it; a little of everything, given how hungry he is. The seasonings may be simple, but that bit of flavoring is more than enough right now. Sometimes all you need is basic nutrition during the toughest of times.] Thanks. If you want a snack afterwards, I brought some chocolate along.

[Since he wanted to surprise Hiyori with a Valentine's Day treat and figured the junk food might be nice after the fight. He just didn't know how damn dire shit would be.....]

3 Re-group

[ Friend or not, Godzilla's not in a place to do a lot of talking and clearly neither is Yato. Goji has no problem simply drinking his whiskey and letting the room stay silent. Until Yato goes and does... that. Godzilla's reasonably certain the young god isn't someone who can breathe underwater. Doesn't seem like a skill a fortune deity would have.

With a sigh the he reaches down into the water, grasps underneath Yato's shoulder, and effortlessly lifts him so his head is back above the waterline. ]

Drowning one's self seems an ill-solution to the situation at claw, Friend Yato.

[ He pauses to take a sip of his drink before continuing. ]

I believe your mate would have complaint should you succeed in such effort, yes?

[It's a fairly comfortable silence between them as far as silences go, at least until Yato goes and pretends he's a submarine. One without any air. He definitely isn't able to go without breathing for huge stretches of time, but it seems like he's trying his luck this time around.

At least until Godzilla is good enough to haul his dumb ass out of the water for a light scolding, much to Yato's chagrin. His face goes red and not just because of the heat of the water. He's slightly ashamed of his behavior, but damn... things suck quite a bit right now, after all.]

Hah... I guess you're right about that...

[Shaking his head so that water droplets fly this way and that, he sighs heavily, partially to get himself some much needed air.]

Yeah, no kidding. She'd revive me then kill me herself, heh... Or at least close to it.

[ Once Godzilla's certain Yato's not about to pull another Titanic Impression (not that Goji knows ANYTHING about that), he lets go of his arm and sets his glass down. With his hands free Godzilla proceeds to grab the nearby bottle of whiskey to top his glass off and fill an empty glass that's resting along the ledge of the bath. ]

Indeed? I was unaware Friend Hiyori possessed such capability. It was of my understanding she was one of the "normal" humans.

[ He snorts derisively, a puff of smoke issuing from his nostrils, and holds out the now full second glass in offering to Yato. ]

If there were ever such a being, as it were. One doubts human kind to be a species for which a normality exists.

[Hah, yeah. Resembling the Titanic is about what he was going for - a wreck on the bottom of the bath, yeah. That's about right. Sighing heavily, Yato watches Godzilla idly, not quite paying attention. Blame the water still dripping in his eyes.]

She is. But she could still give me mouth-to-mouth then throttle the life out of me again. Or just deck me upside my head until I've got a headache.

[It takes him a moment to notice the offered glass, but once he does, Yato takes it gladly and with a nod of acknowledgement. He forces himself to sip at the drink rather than down it in one fell swoop, allowing the burn of the alcohol to coat his throat.]

Yeah. She's both as normal as they come and yet a shining, special case... Completely unlike others of her kind.

[ If only someone who could fly was there to save him... Where's Ishtar when you need her? Unfortunately, Ereshkigal can hover a few inches above the ground at best when she's not in the Underworld. Think Ereshkigal, think!

If she needs to hover over the ground, and he needs to be caught before he crashes and splatters... Then yes, of course! Bring the ground up to him!

And lo: The ground under Ereshkigal's feet suddenly rises up and forms a mini-mountain. She is - after all - the one who tramples the sacred mountain! And once she's high enough to intercept the falling Yato - she leaps to catch him. ]

H-Hold on!

[ Another earthly pillar rises up for her to land on - after all that would be pointless if she caught him just for the two of them to crash together! But her balance is very precarious and that pillar is very thin. G-Guess she needs a plan to bring them both back to earth now...

A-Also is he heavier than expected or is she just tired? ]

[He'll take any kind of save over crashing into the ground, truthfully. Again. Damn Imugi!! So when he feels someone soft and sorta squishy catch him, relief floods his entire being even as the wind is knocked out of him from the impact. He was going fairly fast, after all--

He's definitely a solid mass of godly muscle, surprisingly given his twig-like appearance with his usual tracksuit. More twunk than twink, strictly speaking.

As they wobble precariously upon her self-made miniature mountain, he gloms onto her so he doesn't tumble out of her arms. Then, hesitantly, he peeks up to see who it is that saved him from becoming a godly pancake.]

E-Eresh! Whew... Am I ever glad to see you--!

[His grip suddenly tightens around her as he happily rubs his cheek against hers like an overgrown cat. All that's missing is some purring, the idiot.]

Maybe lower her mini-mountain? But that'd be too unstable... What she can do though is summon many more stone pillars, each smaller than the former and then hop off from one to the next till they hit the ground.

And lo...! She does just that. She extends a hand (and tries not to shove it into Yato's face) to raise multiple smaller earthly pillars. ]

Yato, I'm going to hop from pillar to pillar till we reach the ground. [That's her best plan, sorry.] D-Don't move too much, alright?

[He is very happy! Probably too much so given the fact THERE'S A BATTLE GOING ON ABOVE THEM!!! Something he probably ought to keep in mind so he doesn't get too sidetracked. Although perhaps given he got knocked upside the head, a little leeway is in order.

[ Shinn spots Ereshkigal catching Yato and swoops between them and the Imugi to provide cover fire while they descend -- bringing out the big beam cannon and blasting off a steady stream of laser fire to keep the Imugi at bay. ]

Are you alright?

[ That looked like a nasty blow, and even getting intercepted by a pillar can't be gentle. ]

[Oh, some extra defense while both Yato and Ereshkigal get their bearings is much appreciated! It saves them from having to worry about the Imugi giving chase like the last damn one did, almost causing them to end up as kaiju fodder...

Rubbing at his head and limbs, Yato glances up at the mech with no small amount of awe; they didn't have such things in his world except in fiction, so seeing a real one in action is pretty damn impressive.]

[Doesn't mean he won't ache like hell and be bruised to kingdom come afterwards, but he can still fight. ...once he rests a little bit so that his head stops spinning. So he flops down on a piece of rubble briefly, gaze on the battle.]

[ "Tougher stuff than humans" -- geez, is anyone here even baseline human other than Cagalli? That'll have to be a question for the other side of this fight. For now, Destiny hovers between Yato and the Imugi, shield out and the mobile suit's red-and-black wings fanned out for additional cover from anything the kaiju or the storm might toss over. ]

[ Shinn is intrigued by the idea of having something as small as a person in the air against the Imugi -- at least, if that person has decent cover and/or a decent distraction from a ten-foot robot flying as a wing. ]

[Hah, yeah, it's something they'll have to discuss later once things aren't quite so dire. At least right now the situation isn't as bad as it could be, seeing as how he's protected by Shinn and his impressive robot.]

[He rubs his temple lightly, trying not to wince at the ache it causes in his stomach area. That's where the Imugi nailed him good - in the gut. Talk about rude! Though they are trying to kill it, so fair's fair. After a minute or so, Yato heaves himself up, making sure his cloak is secure before taking to the air again.]

[ well. yato isn't the only one seeing similarities between the imugi and his own parental figure. it's been weighing deeply on hunter's mind, and he may or may not have been projecting a little onto the imugi children. ]

[ he's not soaking away his troubles in the bathhouse, more just... trying to get his bearings. that being said, he's not about to just sit here in the water and let yato drown (?) ]

[ so as yato spends longer and longer under the water --- hunter dives down to grab him and pull him up to the surface ]

[That's a thought that would be almost comforting, knowing he's not alone in having a twisted parental figure that's similar to the vengeful dragon kaiju. These sorts of things are easier to bear when there's others to share one's pain, after all.

But for now, Yato thinks he's alone in his suffering and acts as such, testing himself to see just how long he can handle going without air. Too long, it seems, judging by Hunter's distress.

Once he's pulled up to the surface, he takes a much needed gasp of air before glancing around to see who it is that's interrupted his pity party.]

[Ah, that figures. Kid's a worrywart sometimes, so it stands to reason he would fret over Yato himself doing something stupid like that. Pushing his soaked bangs out of his eyes, he sighs heavily.]

[ well, there's always time for it to come up later. when yato's not borderline drowning himself. hunter's grip on yato is tight and there's a bit of real panic in his expression, followed by relief when yato takes a breath again, and then back to scheduled grump ]
