Best Bang for your Buck
One of the more well-off CEOs in Neo-Tokyo has a reputation of working closely with one of the most infamous (and untouchable) politicians in the city. The politicain himself is difficult to corner or get close to, however, the CEO is marginally more available. Or at least, his business is aways hiring, and they contract several services such as cleaning out to small businesses. He also has several close associates known for frequenting many of the clubs in Neo-Tokyo as well, and they are easy to speak with, especially when indulging in drink or drugs.
Outsiders will need to get information about him from either his associates or fellow workers, where they can find him. He’s a bit notoriously difficult to find, but after investigating, Outsiders will be able to find out that he frequents the Underground, or rather – a string of clubs and fighting rings run not by legitimate businesses, but Crime Syndicates. It seems our CEO isn’t as squeaky clean as one would think. Outsiders will need to stalk this CEO to find out more about where he goes, as well as his dealings within the underground.
LILITH would be appreciative to know who he is meeting and what it is about, but it is up to Outsiders whether they share this information with LILITH, or if they report it to the “agency”, or both.
Hissy Pit
LILITH has obtained information from previous investigations that there are money-laundering schemes that seem more far-reaching than just in Neo Tokyo, and include both local businesses paying protection fees as well as outside entities that are investing in Neo-Tokyo’s criminal enterprises. They aren’t certain of how far it goes, but rumors suggest it may be spreading to other crime-friendly locations, like Las Vegas. Getting information is trickier, as Outsiders will need to obtain information while infiltrating an Underground Fight club to do so. Information suggests that they use kaiju they’ve stolen to fight not only other kaiju, but other promising human fighters, and earlier in the nights, the unfortunate. Either those that owe a debt, a captured rival, or snitches. (You are free to use common and small Kaiju from the TDM as fighting Kaiju in your threads! Maybe a few rift-corrupted beetles?)
Outsiders are asked to infiltrate this dangerous den and obtain information by any means necessary. Saving civilians in the meantime is desired, but may not be possible. Outsiders are encouraged to attempt to keep a low profile during this operation if at all possible. Outsiders are also strongly discouraged (but not prohibited) from using their powers if they end up in the ring. Tipping the organizations off can lead to the underground to either move, or disappear entirely and a new scheme could crop up in the meantime.
LILITH would appreciate any information turned over to them in regards to these connections, as well, but it’s entirely up to the Outsiders if they want to provide that information to LILITH, the “agency”, or both!

At least enough. ]
Too eager if you ask me, but... [ A sigh. ] You know how it is.
They always are excited until they see it up close. Hm?
[ A twitch of his lips, before he rolled his eyes. ]
How did your first job go, exactly?
[ He's asking the old man, to which he tips his head to the side, considering, before he starts to talk about an event from his past.
This is the opportunity to start asking questions, so Silco nudges Taryon at certain points. ]
no subject
[It's a good thing Taryon went through this song-and-dance once before. This poor persona of a wide-eyed newbie is going to have a horrible time when he sees his first murder.]
You...did well your first time, right? Any tips for someone new to the business?
[Don't act so friendly, is the first piece of advice. He's supposed to keep quiet and do whatever his boss says. For example...the man goes into his first job where he was to stand back and look intimidating while they made requests for local businesses to join a partnership.]
no subject
Taryon is playing the part well enough. Silco takes a sip of his drink, and nods. ]
See? Good advice. Friendliness is eagerness. Who is eager in this line of work?
[ 'Cops and people who want to make a quick krypto' he says, and Silco nods right along. ]
Quite so. We don't need to be friendly, do we? We need to just get the job done.
[ The man likes that. He points to Taryon with a meaty hand. 'Exactly.' ]
no subject
[A glance at Silco to confirm to continue the probing, which is disguised as a rookie checking for his mentor's approval.]
So do I work in intimidation first? What about the business side of things?
[A chuckle. "You're think too far ahead. Wait until you get promoted enough times."]
no subject
You can't say the boy doesn't have ambition, can you? I would be careful questioning your Kyoudai when you're asked to do something, hm? The business waits until you're at our Wakagashira's level.
[ A tip of his head, a hand to his chest. ] Something I can only aspire to at the moment, I'm afraid.
Maybe if you listen well, you'll help us along.
[ He leans slightly towards the two of them, his lips curling with a spark of mischief. ] I heard that there's danger in making moves these days. Good enough reason to be cautious thise days, don't you think?
no subject
"Are you running into trouble lately? Not with LILITH, I guess. They've suddenly stopped focusing on our groups lately."]
no subject
This was where one had to be careful. ]
No, not like the beginning of the year. After some of the incidents in the beginning, things calmed down.
Odd, isn't it?
I don't trust it.
[ His eyes dip toward Taryon, inviting him to pipe up if he wishes. ]
no subject
[It's a stupid conjecture, but even veteran elite task forces throw out dumb ideas before settling on a strategy and theory. Taryon's seen it first-hand.]
.
Or, uh, they're planning something new. [The man gives Taryon a slow, worried nod. "I don't know what they're playing at, but it pays to be cautious. Avoid some of the well-known gathering places for a while."]
no subject
[ He said with a soft sigh. ]
It's a shame, too. I think a new face like him could use a little shock by seeing some of our more dangerous finds face to face, and I know they always like fresh faces in those underground spaces.
[ A put upon sound. ]
There's nothing for it, I suppose.
no subject
[Their mark doesn't seem all that bothered that Silco is thinking of throwing Taryon into the fire right away. "You can always start with dangerous cargo. Without much of a police presence, he can get a look at what really runs our businesses day one." He taps Taryon's shoulder. "Get a head start on your career, kid."
Tary turns back to the man.] Like what? Uh - not that you need to say it out loud, but how dangerous is this cargo?
no subject
[ He says with a twist of his lips. With only one eye showing (thanks to the eyepatch) it crinkles with mirth. ]
I could...
[ His eyes dart toward Taryon. ] Dangerous enough that you would have to prove your skills. Movement of... dangerous goods.
[ A crooked smile. ] Perhaps I'll take him on that one happening tomorrow night. You heard about it, I assume?
[ He doesn't know which gang he's a part of, but product moves quick, and the intention is to get the location. They'll be moving something, he's sure of it. ]
no subject
The man nods in response to Silco and confirms the details of the location and time. It's not highly sensitive, but every gang in the city is interested in how it's going to be handled and distributed.]
So...I'll be watching. Just watching, nothing else. And this is a learning experience?
no subject
[ His eyes met the other man's, and there was a curl of his lip.
He'd heard rumor of it, but getting it confirmed was excellent, in his opinion. ]
Unless, of course, someone not involved makes a move. Then we'll be moving, to prevent anyone from getting it.
[ A disappointed shake of his head. ] It's disappointing how many young upstarts don't respect each others' territory. There are rules to these sorts of things.
[ The old man crosses his arms and nods, annoyed just at the thought of it. 'There's been heavy losses lately, things are getting destabilized. Who's stepping in but the inexperienced?' ]
no subject
He thinks of all the weapons he could hide on his body in case the worst happens and someone attacks: his rings, the rod, a few gems - but Taryon's not much of a melee fighter. He hopes that he won't get a close-up view of these "young upstarts" that the two older men speak of.]
Just saying, I promise I won't act out of line out there. I'm not like all those other young guys getting into the business.
no subject
[ Silco says with a soft chuckle. ] That is why you're going to go far. Don't be foolish, keep your head, and...
[ The other man chuckles. 'Yes, the flashy ones always burn out fast. The ones that survive...' he indicated Silco with a meaty finger. 'Those are the ones that know when to keep their head down.'
Like the two of them, the implication is clear.
Silco's eyes tip toward Taryon, an indication that unless he has something to say, he'll wrap it up. ]
no subject
He looks at the other man and nods. Don't be flashy. Don't let them pay attention to him. That should be easy.]
no subject
Good job, Taryon.
He polishes off his drink, and sets it aside. ]
We have things to prepare. Thanks for the help with the fresh blood.
[ He stands, time to get going ]
no subject
Leaving his half-finished drink, he chases after Silco like a confused student running after his teacher. Once outside and standing in the darkness of the outdoors, he finally asks:] How did I do?
no subject
Taryon chases after him, and he does actually wait, because a proper debriefing is important whe you're roping someone into your schemes. ]
Acceptable.
[ He says. Like Silco was quick with praise. ]
He is not suspicious, and later, if we return after a job well done, he may be more willing to chat. In the short term, the delivery can go off without a hitch, and in the long term... we'll have someone more amenable to sharing.
no subject
That's good. So we're good here, then. [He rubs his hands together to beat up the nerves that accumulated on his upper back during the latter half of that conversaion.] Am I the only one that's going to be there? Because I feel like I should have some backup if I'm going to be part of some horrible and illegal operation where I don't know anyone.
no subject
I'll arrange for some of my cohort to join you. They're rough around the edges, but...
[ Well. Silco might not lead the organization that he's in right now, but he is well-respected by them, and they would follow his lead. ]
They will suffice, and they won't give you any trouble.
no subject
[As he is the most important figure in this mission.]
I guess I'll just to get myself ready for that night. And make sure I don't have to show up at my job that day.
no subject
[ Can you, Tary? His laugh might make it seem like he disagrees, but he waves a little hand, before he pulls out a cigar. ]
Do so. We'll see where this leads, if we can convince them to give us more, hm?
no subject
[He'll be alone, save for some goons he barely knows. Taryon clenches his fists for a few moments.]
I'll let you know if I spot anything suspicious. [He meet's Silco's gaze with the best determined expression he can fake.] At least it'll be for something good in the end.
no subject
[ His smile is... relaxed. Almost easy. It doesn't look fitting on Silco's face. ]
Please do, once you're done. Anything that you see can be used for later.
[ A beat, and then: ]
Oh, and of course, good luck, hm?
