( OPEN-ISH ) ROAD TRIP: SENDAI

WHO: Yuji, Tsurumaru and their friends/CR
WHAT: A road trip to their hometown, Sendai
WHERE: Sendai and places along the way
WHEN: Weekend of the 6th-8th
WARNINGS: None at the moment!

SENDAI ROAD TRIP
aka boys visit home and hang out with their friends
As summer starts to come to an end and autumn starts to begin, Yuji comes up with an exciting idea: having learned that Tsurumaru is also 'from' the Sendai region and being reunited with many of his friends, he wants to go on a trip. It's not too difficult to plot a route from Neo Tokyo to his hometown, in Miyagi Prefecture.

While some people are personally invited (and they're not allowed to say no, thanks to Yuji's earnest expression and Tsurumaru's natural charm) anyone who is friendly with both are welcome to join in the road trip, to have fun, hang out, sleep at a temple and generally have a novel time exploring what was once home.
▶ 001. FOX HUNT.
To get to Sendai, everyone must cross through forests and mountains while occasionally stopping by ruined and abandoned cities. The further north they go, the colder and colder it gets until they start to encounter snow on the abandoned highways and roads. When they're close to Sendai, the road they're taking will take them through the abandoned village of Zao.

Zao is a small village in the mountains and there is a heavy layer of snow already. While they won't find any people, they will find many foxes running around. They range in colors like white, black, orange, blonde, and everything in between. While most of them seem ordinary enough, some of them are unusually large and have up to nine tails.

At first, they mind their own business but once they notice the group, they'll become very friendly and start to circle them. The foxes will try to cuddle with them and pick their pockets for valuables. Somehow, they even manage to get items that are locked up inside their vehicles. They try to play games with them using the stolen items. They run through the city and seem to change in size, shrinking and growing to escape them. Just when you manage to grab one, it disappears as if you were chasing an illusion the entire time. It all seems to be harmless fun and they'll eventually relent if you offer them food. After they're fed and have had their fun, they'll start to settle and allow cuddles and pets before the group has to move on to Sendai.
▶ 002. SEEING THE SIGHTS.
They'll arrive in Sendai in the afternoon. Maybe because it was once the largest city in the region, the city seems more impressive than some of the other cities they've passed through. While it is largely left to ruin, many of the buildings still stand and the roads are still navigable.

They'll also find a small population of people in the city. They centralize mostly around the station area though people can be found throughout the city. Local families make use of what is left of the city for shelter and live a hunter-gatherer type of life by going out into the mountains and forests to hunt and scavenge for supplies. There is also a group of researchers and military personnel that maintain a small watch station, relaying reports and information from the north down to Tokyo.

Yuji takes charge once they get to Sendai proper, and starts to throw himself into the exciting role of official Sendai tour guide. There are various places he recommends, and they don't have to all go together: he's happy to take anyone who wants to stick with him with him, but people are free to go off on their own and do whatever they want. He's not going to pressure you!

The list of places he offers are as follows:
  • Zuihoden, the mausoleum complex of Date Masamune.
  • Sendaijo Ato, castle ruins that date back to the 1600s.
  • Akiu Falls, a 55 metre waterfall (which is awkwardly frozen, oops!)
  • The Osaki Hachimangu Shrine, from the Edo period.
  • Rinnoji Temple, founded by Shodo Shonin who introduced Buddhism to Nikko.
  • Aobayama Park, the site of the Sendai Castle ruins, surrounded by sakura trees - with the blossoms completely frozen and preserved.
  • Rairaikyo Gorge, a little hike that offers trees, moss covered rocks and a beautiful view of the frozen rivers.
  • Many of the tourist attractions from Yuji's time are somewhat abandoned, now, so many of the stores and packed avenues are deserted and empty when they visit. There are still some stores selling souviners and offering gifts to take home, but it's not quite as prolific as it once was - and things are very different from Neo Tokyo.

The people are kind and friendly enough, but due to the isolated and harsh nature of the environment, they tend to be serious and aren't really the types to stick around and have a casual chat. They will, however, answer questions and give directions if asked. By talking to the locals in the area, they can learn they're free to camp out and stay at any unclaimed building in the city if they want to stay. However, if they want to stay somewhere more comfortable, they suggest heading to the coast, where some monks maintain a temple that occasionally hosts guests.
▶ 003. NIGHT AT THE TEMPLE.
When it's time to rest and wind down, the group will decide to follow the advice of the locals and head towards the sea. Before they depart, some locals ask them to help take some supplies to the temple since they're going there anyway. The ride might be a little cramped with all of them and the bags and boxes of food and maintenance supplies but at least it isn't a long ride.

Eventually, they'll arrive at Matsushima City. Compared to Sendai, the city is a total ghost town. It won't take long to find it and once they do, it's hard to miss the large temple complex. It is made up of several buildings that are all carefully maintained by monks that are practicing meditation and training.

Some monks welcome them when they arrive. Apparently the supplier in Sendai called ahead to let them know they were on their way. They'll accept the supplies and if the group would like, they can even help carry the food to the kitchens and some of the other supplies to storage rooms. They're more than welcome to stay, though, they are warned that their accommodations will be humble.

Despite the warning, they are provided with comfortable futons, warm blankets, clean robes, hot baths, and simple but filling vegetarian meals. They don't ask for much in return but are happy to accept help maintaining the temple, whether it be with simple cleaning, doing some repairs, or helping to prepare meals. They are also welcome to worship and leave offerings. For those unfamiliar, some of the monks are happy to explain.

The temple also has a direct path to the scenic and renowned Matsushima Bay. It's different from how others might remember it, mainly because the sea freezes leaving sharp and spiky wave formations on the shoreline. As the frozen waves form, they make shattering and clinking sounds. There are also fewer islands than there were in the past because they have been destroyed by past attacks and disasters. However, the bay is still beautiful. There are still plenty of islands to see and there are even some thin paths and bridges connecting some of the closer islands if they want to explore.

    ▶ 001. FOX HUNT.
[ Aki is quiet on the journey to Sendai.

He's not like some of their more excitable friends, playing games and throwing themselves around in the back of their transport, enjoying all the excitement. There is a small smile on his face now and then, that's undeniable, but he's far more tempered than the others, more inclined to let himself relax in the peace and quiet - and, when needed, to take over the driving duties, since he's not sure how many of the others actually have a real license.

When they reach their first stop, he spends the first twenty minutes hanging around the car, before... The foxes.

As someone who held a contract with the Fox Devil for what had felt like his entire career, the animals are a little nostalgic. They're not quite the same as his old friend, but they are enough to soften him, dragging him out of his adult supervision and getting him to walk into the park properly, sitting down with a little bit of food to share with whichever of them decide to be brave.

He doesn't expect to be dogpiled by foxes.

Anyone walking by will see Aki sitting with something closer to a dozen foxes crowding into his space, nuzzling at him andlicking his fingers, settling on his lap and trying to crawl onto his shoulders. It's mortifying, more than anything, and his eyes are wide as he does his best to try and pet them all.

Help? Or laugh at him. Whichever works best. ]
    ▶ 002. SEEING THE SIGHTS.
[ It's strange, to come to what he knew as a big, bustling city and be struck with how abandoned it is.

While some of the others make their way to some of the more intense natural locations, Aki makes his way to Zuihoden, to wander around the complex and learn a little about the history of the place. It's different from Hokkaido, where he grew up, and a vast change from Neo Tokyo, so he takes his time to explore it and enjoy, to throw himself into climbing up and around to take in the sights.

Travelling around, he visits the various places - the main Zuihoden building, the museum at the gardens in Zuiho, the Zennoden mausoleum and the tomb at Myounkaibyo, content to explore and indulge in a little history.

If anyone joins him, he's happy to have the company.

When he finally makes his way back to join the others, he spends a little of his own time buying his share of gifts, content to pocket a few before they move to the temple. ]
▶ 003. NIGHT AT THE TEMPLE.
[ Aki does his share of helping before he retires to his room to rest.

It's been a long day, even if it doesn't feel like it, and there's an edge of something more morose about him as he settles in. It reminds him of trips to Hokkaido in the past, visiting his family shrine and being in mourning, and with that comes the shaking knowledge of just what happened this month in his own world.

The winter season is always hard for him, and adding this extra grief to it... It's hard.

You can find Aki out on the awnings in the temple, bathed and wrapped up in robes, hair down - and it's long, curling around his shoulderblades in a light sheet of black. He doesn't seem to want to do a huge amount, gazing out at the scenery with what feels like an intense weight on him, trying to keep it all together.

    It's not necessarily successful. ]

[ It's quiet, and dark, when Aki goes to find Denji.

They haven't spoken properly since the Underworld. They've talked, and been around each other, because being away from Denji for too long feels impossible and Aki can't fathom it, but it hasn't been a real conversation - it hasn't covered the depth of their feelings, and the things he thinks they need to address. They can't keep going like this, and he knows that.

Rationally, he knows it. It doesn't make it any easier.

It might be that this isn't the right time, with the looming weight of his own death a constant reminder of what they've lost, but he's too tired and too drained to consider letting it go on for much longer. He doesn't want to imagine a world where they keep hurting like this, so he doesn't - he finds some mugs, make some hot chocolate, grabs some blankets and goes to find Denji before he chickens out.

    I got cold feet.

    What a stupid notion.

Eventually, he finds the other man, and he throws the blanket over his shoulders, passing him the drink and settling down beside him. Aki feels as though he looks a little younger, with his hair down and robe softening him compared to his suit, but it doesn't make him feel more confident in bridging the gap between them. That's going to be far, far harder.

Sighing softly, he tilts his head back. ]

I want to talk to you. [ A pause. ] Don't run away.

[Ever since they returned home from the last mission, Raidou has been working himself too hard again. All of his free time has been dedicated to training harder than ever. No socializing, no hanging out, just either sparring in the sim room, the occasion meditation session, or out on a long jog. Of course, until the pain glitch kicks in, and he's knocked out of training for a day or two, leading into this trip.

All of the worries that lead him into all that harsh training seems forgotten once they're out on this journey. Part of him was unsure about leaving his regimen behind, but how can he resist a hiking trip through the mountains, led by Yuji? This is the ideal trip for him. Even though he was born and raised quite far from this part of Japan, it makes him a bit homesick; the cool air, endless forests, small villages dotting the mountains.

Yuji's enthusiasm is infectious, and Raidou can't help but be sucked in by it. He's excited himself to visit any and all places in Sendai with him, and everyone, but the gorge is the one he wants to visit the most. A little side hiking excursion with just the two of them.

While out exploring, they come across an old bridge they should probably take care crossing. While peeking down at the river and rocks below, Raidou spots something, and he breaks into a grin.]

    Ah. Yuji, look.

[He points down at a formation in the rocks with a particular shape.]

Let's get down there and take a photo.

    🞂001. FOX HUNT.
[One of the things that saddens Raidou about this world the most is the lack of yokai and spirits. Aside from some certain Outsiders, anyway. Here in his village is the closest thing he's seen to yokai since he's arrived, and even though they don't ping that way on his magic radar, he's excited to see them nonetheless. Especially when they're foxes.

In particular, Raidou has attracted a white fox, much to his delight. His clan is named for the famous white fox of legend, even hailing from the same area it took place. Foxes are near and dear to him, so this one gets away with a lot as it approaches, circling him, accepting pets and being strangely affectionate.

At one point, it tries to take something from his pocket, but Raidou catches it. He knows what fox spirits get up to. He chides it lightly, with a smile, but moments later it runs off. That chattery fox noise sure sounds a bit like a laugh. He frowns and checks his pockets but nothing seems missing, but that's because it somehow took the tracker ring right off his finger. The specially-made tracker ring gifted to him by Yuji.]

    Oh no you don't--
[Please go help him before he wanders off too far into the woods alone?]

    🞂002. SEEING THE SIGHTS.
[Maybe there isn't a lot of places to shop, but Raidou wants to buy what he can to not only help the people of this place, but also bring home some souvenirs for those who didn't come along. You can catch him out browsing among the stalls.]

I wonder what sort of thing Geto-san likes...
[Once he sees someone nearby he knows, he'll approach you.]
...What sort of souvenirs that would be easy to carry home that people might actually enjoy?

    🞂003. NIGHT AT THE TEMPLE.
[Raidou can only take so much time off, it seems. Since the last mission ended, doubling down on training after what he sees as a string of personal failures during it. He's been wearing himself down again after he'd been doing so well to take breaks and relax, though he was forced into taking it easy after the simulation's pain glitch. It even took Yuji some cajoling him to come on this trip, even though he loves hikes and nature, and Yuji can convince him into practically anything.

He sees himself sort as an ambassador of his shrine back in Neo Tokyo, and he wants to make sure that them staying here isn't too much of an inconvenience. He'll help them with sorting their new supplies, cooking dinner that evening, and joining for meditation that night.

Maybe you'd like to assist him, or maybe you'd rather pull him away from chore work to go do literally anything else? The stars are beautiful out here, and, if you're like Raidou and don't mind the cold, the bay is also work going to see.]

It's beautiful here. I'm glad we came when we did.

[They picked the right time of year for seeing all the beautiful colors on the trees. The forests around Neo Tokyo aren't so lush, thanks to repeated attacks.]

I'm also glad you talked me into coming. Ah, here, this should be good, right?

[They need to step carefully on the old abandoned bridge, but the spot they've reached should be a good angle to get the heart-shaped formation in the background of a selfie.]

    01 ▸ FOX HUNT

[ Going back to his hometown is a bittersweet, complicated matter given the tragedy that occurred there and the fact that it hasn't really been a home he can return to even back in his own world, but Yuta wants to go see it all the same. For that reason, all difficult feelings are shoved aside so as not to let any of them bleed through. He arrives to the entourage his usual polite, mild-mannered self, cheerfully bringing with him Muramasa and a surprise guest: a young girl, seemingly around 11 years old, with unsettling red eyes, a mole on her right cheek, and long white hair, wearing a matching white coat and a grey flowery pin in her hair while a sleeping bird sits on her shoulder, half-tucked into the corner of her hood to prevent it from falling off at the slightest jostle.

Anyone remotely familiar with Rika will recognize her oppressive aura immediately despite her unfamiliar looks. Yuta has gotten her a cloaking device for this trip so she can move freely among civilians and enjoy it too. (She's a Sendai girl after all, it only feels fair.) Not that she seems to care all that much about anything other than sticking close by Yuta's side. Save for a very select few, most people are regarded with a blank stare or — in the case of girls and adult men — given the stink eye when looking at or addressing her. At least she isn't too obtrusive; just an eerie, largely silent presence along for the journey.

At Zao village, Yuta hangs back on the fringes with her for fear that the overwhelming awful cursed energy that they both exude will scare the foxes away as it does with most animals and ruin the fun for everyone else. Any brief company will be appreciated (by Yuta at least) while they watch from afar.

Eventually there is an intrepid large fox that dares to venture close and Yuta is so delighted and taken with it, he does not notice the second one sneaking up from behind, ready for mischief, but Rika does and she's raising her tiny fists and visibly squaring up. Someone either stop her or alert Yuta before she decides to fistfight a fox that looks about twice her size, maybe? ]

    02 ▸ SIGHTSEEING

[ For all that he's born and raised in Sendai himself, Yuta is largely content to listen to Yuji play the enthusiastic tour guide, but he jumps in where needed to offer suggestions, answer questions, or help direct anyone to whatever destination they've settled on. He's also happy to personally guide people to places when Yuji can't be everywhere at once; especially when he's keen on visiting Zuihoden and both the shrine and the temple himself.

Aside from the tourist attractions, he also takes the time to just wander the streets and check out whatever shops still remain and will not mind any company if others are as interested in what little remains of the city itself as him. Personal anecdotes will be freely given as well as the history of the city as he remembers it and as he was taught as a local if asked.

Wherever he's accompanied, he plays perfect host or is pleasant, upbeat company, happy to talk and use his hummingbird drone to take pictures or videos.

But sometimes he can be caught staring in a particular direction, gaze lingering on something unseen with distant eyes until his attention is called back or Rika takes his hand to snap him out of it. ]

    03 ▸ TEMPLE NIGHT

[ Yuta's time is quick to get split between helping out the monks with various tasks and making sure their group doesn't raise too many suspicions about their actual otherworldly origins — appearing to hastily cover up any slip-ups he overhears in the vicinity with excuses and polite conversational redirections — to the point that his bustling to and fro hardly seems to be in the spirit of having a fun, relaxing time. Perhaps a helping hand in all the chores or someone to drag him away and take a break is in order.

Especially when it leaves Rika to get bored enough to stray a little further from his side and approach the nearest person with a: "W̸A̴N̷N̶A̶ ̸P̴L̴A̴Y̸?̴"

If the uncanny voice doesn't seem like reason enough to think twice about agreeing, then something about her distinctly sinister smile just might. Perhaps it's better to decline or you can accept at your own risk and find out just what play means to the creepy little girl. (Spoilers: it's fighting. She means to fight.)

Later after dinner, Yuta will have settled into actually relaxing a little more, moving around in the offered robes that he's added extra layers to like a scarf and a certain swordsmith's white haori after a bath; someone seems to get cold really easily. He can be found socializing and occasionally sticking to Muramasa like velcro — a strange thing to witness for anyone who knows him when he's normally so conscientious about other people's personal space. He'll also be up later than most if there any other insomniacs who could use some late night company, there to talk in quiet voices or be in amiable silence together. ]

[ honestly? even when he might've been somewhat avoiding aki, he likes to believe he did it because he didn't want them to start a conversation when he's not prepared to handle it the best way possible. the last time he opened his big mouth, he was spitting way too many secrets all at once, and while the version of him in the underworld didn't care to sugarcoat it, he was still mindful not to say the whole ugly truth. it almost felt like a taunt. to both of them. when he got an invitation to come to ths trip, he knew they'd have to face each other, and as much as denji likes to pretend he is ready for this — he's not so sure anymore.

the weight of the blanket landed soft across his shoulders, heavy with warmth, and denji didn’t move at first. aki’s quiet presence lingered just behind, then came the gentle nudge of heat into his hands. denji wrapped his fingers around the mug as he shifted slightly, the blanket slipping lower to drape against his arms. "Don't run away" — did he really need to go this hard on him already? denji’s gaze fixed on the window where the night pressed in, his reflection looked pale and tired, lips pressing into a thin line as he steadied himself. ]

It's kinda impossible to run off while holding a hot drink, you know ... [ It's getting late when a telltale eerie presence comes to join Yuji's side, announced by the susurrus of gently swishing fabric as Yuta moves with steps that would have been silent were it not for the layers he's adorned himself with to fend off the cold. Chief among said layers is the very familiar white haori draped over his shoulders that splays out a little as he takes a seat next to Yuji. With everything winding down and most people getting ready for bed or retreating into their own personal social bubbles, Yuta's complicated feelings regarding home are harder to ignore as he runs out of distractions to keep his attention diverted.

It's a bit of a (selfish) relief then to find Yuji still awake. The soothing presence of a friend is the best balm for a hurting heart that Yuta knows and what company is better than the one which shares an intrinsic understanding that no one else really does?

The melancholia doesn't show on his face as he gazes up at the stars that Yuji's been watching, but it's there in the softness of his voice, tainting the edges of his usual light tone. ]

[ If he doesn't go hard, he might falter.

Denji's words have been weighing on him since they left the Underworld, like a weird rope around his neck. Even when he's trying to be peaceful somewhere, resting with Tsurumaru, spending time with Vash, wandering around Neo Tokyo, the words come back to him like someone gripping at his heart and twisting it so severely he could die all over again. They haunt him.

Aren't you tired of pretending like you're not actually dead, and all of this will be over?

You get it, don't you? How cruel it is. You walked back into my life, trying to make everything normal, while you knew you would leave me again one day.

Shaking his head, he settles down properly, staring out at the world in front of them and trying to keep his calm as much as he can, his expression tight. ]

    I'm not ignoring what I said ...

[ he can't ignore something that's been haunting him from day one, something that he's living with, something he's been trying to keep to himself, but it's getting to a point he's not doing anyone a favor by repressing it. the frustration is real, the anger behind it is more vivid, yet when he speaks to aki, his voice reflects none of that. it's more soft and maybe remorseful. ] It's how I feel. It's how I still feel, and that's the truth. Seeing you and power again ... it's not-

[ yeah, this hurts. he feels like shit. like scum. if only he knew it was greif, even when it’s ugly and unfair to the people he loves most. denji hates it. he hates himself, but he's tired of pretending it's all okay. ]

It's like you guys are here to punish me more than anything else. [ his voice breaks, but denji kept going. ] Because every time I look at you and Power, it just hurts. It never goes away. It never gets better. All I can think about is after we have our fun here, you two will go back to being dead and forget about everything, but I have to return to an empty grave and ashes and try to pick up the pieces. All over again. I have to forget you two. All over again!

[ he takes in a breath, trying his best not to sound too cruel, even though he knew he's failing- ] I don't want to feel this way. Trust me. I hate it, too.

    I know.

[ Aki's voice is soft, at least, and he doesn't turn to look at Denji. It would be easy to lean over and comfort him, to try and tell him that it'll all be fine and okay, but it won't be. The world isn't that kind to them, and it isn't good enough to try and make it so that it hurts less and less, and he is dead. There's no undoing what happened, there's no taking it back, no matter how much he might want to. His life had been taken from him, and Denji had paid the price.

Careful, he sips at his drink. It burns his tongue a little, but that's alright. He can take it.

It is cruel, all the things Denji is saying, but that's okay too. He's lived a life filled with loss, and pain, and cruelty. A little more isn't going to be the end of him, not when there's barely anything left of him to carry the burden. Denji had said it himself: there was nothing to mourn, his body taken away. Aki doesn't exist in his world any more.

The empathy is there, but he's bitter about it, too. He's spent all this time accepting that he's allowed to be alive again, that he's allowed to be happy, to fall in love and make a life here, and it feels like a poisonous disease, somehow, like everything he ever wanted is being twisted out of his grip. What's the point of making a home if Denji isn't going to be able to look at him?

Gritting his teeth, he breathes out sharply. ]

I know it hurts you. I know it's the worst feeling in the world. [ How many graves has he been to? How many times has he returned to Hokkaido and wished? If anyone he loved came back to life, it would make him sick. ] But I don't care. I'm alive now, and I love you too much to just leave you alone.

    ... It was almost necessary.

[Part of him even now can't wait to get back to training. But boyfriend time wins once again.

While Yuji searches for his camera, Raidou tries for the best spot to stand for the shot. Watching his footing on the bridge, looking up to see if he's got the angle right.]

I have think this should be good. And I think we can climb down to it over there.

[He cranes his neck to look past the bridge. It's a little overgrown, but they can easily push past it to make it down to those rocks.]

[Raidou sighs a little, but it's with a smile. He can't argue that ]

I-I know. I just... feel like I'm falling behind a little. That's all.

[He manages a brighter smile for the photo, though, head leaned on Yuji's shoulder to make sure the heart can be seen below.

His face turns a little pink at that question, but he doesn't seem to notice.]

Oh? You won't skip and drop me, right?

I missed my shot at the kaiju, and how many times have I fallen to, ah, shall we say... manipulation by the kaiju.

[That disturbs him more than the missed attack. Yuji's compliment earns him a quick kiss on the cheek.]

I appreciate the kind words. And alright, go ahead. But if you drop me in the water, I'll never forgive you.

I suppose... But I don't like how they're getting in my head, either. I-It seems to happen too often.

[It's not like he's not missed an attack before. It's just that it happened at a time where it's easy to blame other distractions for it happening.

Up he goes, though, and he quickly wraps his arms around Yuji's neck to hold on. He makes an anused sound when they land.]

Much easier than pushing our way through the trees. Are we going to have to leave here the same way?

[Oh no, his big strong boyfriend might have to scoop him up for another majestic leap~]

    1) road trip / fox hunt!

[ Power is, admittedly, kind of a menace when it comes to road trips. She hoards snacks (but usually relents after a word from Aki or Denji), cheats outrageously at car games, and has a hard time sitting still. Eventually she tires herself out and falls asleep against the nearest person's shoulder, though her unfortunate pillow should be careful of those horns.

And when she wakes up... oh man, the foxes alone have made this trip worth it! Power takes to them immediately, gently stroking their fur and happily playing with the ones who get close. Of course, it isn't long before one of them robs her of a bag of haribo candy, and soon Power is pelting through the abandoned town's back streets and alleyways, giving chase to the culprit. The minute she skids around a corner and spots someone, she yells: ]

You! Did you see the thief? Which way did he go?!

    2) fox hunt part 2: these aren't the foxes you're looking for

[ Pay no attention to Power as she casually makes her way back towards the van; her coat isn't suspiciously lumpy, and those definitely aren't fox ears poking out from underneath her collar. If she catches someone looking at her, she'll stare right back at them with a look of carefully calculated (if not very effective!) innocence. ]

    What? 'Tis rude to stare.

    3) Sightseeing and snowballs

[ Power has little interest in the actual sightseeing. One human settlement is pretty much the same as another to her, even if this one seems rather empty in comparison to Tokyo. She buys a keychain or two for souvenirs, makes a few lofty comments about how the castles here have nothing on her castle back home, and then gets down to business.

    Snowball business.

You might be caught off guard by the THWAP of a hastily-assembled snowball hitting you in the shoulder, but the culprit isn't hard to find. Power is crouched behind a snowy bench, but her horns are plainly visible above the snow. Plus, she's snickering. ]

    4) Nighttime

[ It's been a long trip. Power, dressed in some warm robes (and a blanket that she's stolen from someone else's futon wrapped around her shoulders like a cape), is determined to enjoy some relaxation while she can, whether that means stargazing on the temple steps, or sneaking out at night to go see the icy beach.

September is... it's not a month that Power likes to think about. She isn't a very introspective person by nature, but September Thoughts are ones that she purposely avoids, and this temple is too big and too quiet to distract her properly. She'd welcome any distractions. ]
