Accidental Valentine's Dinner

Everyone could use something nice after that kaiju fight, and what better than a real meal? It won't be easy to cook for so many people, but Raidou is willing to try. He makes sure to get permission to use the kitchen and the commons space, and recruits a few friends to help get it all together.

It's not an easy feat to get all the ingredients together, especially in the aftermath of a kaiju attack, so it won't be the most resplendent meal the Outsiders ever had. But if nothing else, he can make the broth and noodles for some ramen, and get as many vegetables together as he can to fill it out. It takes him several days to make what he hopes is enough, and hopefully no one raiding the fridges will take any of it in the meanwhile. He's not the world's greatest cook, but this surprisingly domestic devil summoner is good enough to make something delicious. It's not like Narumi was ever doing any of the cooking back home, so someone had to do it.

Early on Wednesday, everyone would have gotten a text saying that dinner will be at 1900 hours in the common area, and he comes straight home from school to work on putting it all together. Anyone is welcome to help cook or set the tables, and once it's ready, people can line up to get a bowl of their own to take. People are also welcome to bring their own food or drink if they have any they want contribute. Who's got dessert?

After dinner entertainment will be provided by Yuji Itadori, who has managed to find a small projector to use on the commons wall. All the tables and chairs will get rearranged to cram everyone in. Get close, okay? The first feature will be a comedy, and the second will be a horror movie.



OOC: Happy Valentine's Day, Outsiders. Raidou only just learned today what that is, whoops. If your character doesn't have any hot dates planned in a city recently smashed by monsters and tsunamis, then drop in a top-level comment, have a seat and enjoy some soup and some team bonding. Check up on your teammates after their first big battle.

[Bakugo isn't exactly wrong about that, but Raidou isn't as cynical.] Perhaps. But the people here have been through a lot. If they want to hand out some candy and cheer each other up, so be it.

Gari Head's friend. He looks like he's done with shit all the time. [Because why would he bother to give someone a name when someone else is confused over the first name? Then again, only one person he knows looks like a sea urchin's atop his skull.

[Raidou nods after a moment of recognition. Uni head, right.]

Ah, it was explained to me that there is candy you give to friends and acquaintances, and then there is candy you give to... others. If you like them.

[The name may or may not evolve a little over time. Depends on how much more he sees of Megumi.]

Tch. [So someone explained it to him. Good, because Bakugo certainly didn't want to.] Bunch of fucking "rules" and implications... The whole thing's a mess.

[He picks up another candy and looks at it, then grumbles more to himself.]

If you like someone, you should tell them, not hide it behind a damn gift and hope they get the message.

And some people aren't good with words, so why not let a gift doing the talking.

[He shrugs lightly as he takes another piece himself.]

Though forcing everyone to hand them out to each other seems to take any of the special occasion out of it.

[It's not that he doesn't want to argue that, it's that he can't. Because Bakugo's not good with words either. He'd rather let actions do the talking. Gifts aren't a big thing with him either. Throwing money at people is stupid.

But he's not blind to how gifts and words are effective. For him, it's in small doses though. Another reason he never liked Valentine's Day and the "obligations" that went with it.]

No shit. It makes it a task. I dumped all mine in a cake and left it at the party.

[Got rid of them and "handed them out" to people all in one go.]

I learned from my mom. U.A. has a cafeteria. But when we moved into the dorms, we had a kitchen.

[Dodge the taunt with a straightforward answer.]

It can't all be nothing but combat and tactics training the whole time, of course. You still have to learn to live.

[Summoners or heroes alike. Even if the Kuzunohas were a little too successful on the first part with Raidou, and not the second, he still has some life skills.

After a moment, he adds:]

... We should do this again sometime. With a little more planning.

[Just because he's stubborn and proud doesn't mean he won't adapt as needed. Even if that means using elements from someone else to advance himself.]

Normally that deals with PR shit, like interviews and advertisements. Domestic things are supposed to be left to the family.

[U.A. isn't responsible for Home Economics classes and such in the Heroes Department, since the Hero courses focus on, duh, Heroics. Japanese, math, science, and foreign languages, among other subjects, are all compulsory subjects for each student, but something like Home Economics would be found in the General Education Department, of perhaps even the Business Department. Still, most domestic and life skills would be a parental figure's responsibility to pass on to the student.

Bakugo glances at Raidou when he mentions that.]

A mass meal?

Mm. Then it makes sense I learned from my clan, then.

[He didn't go to a real school until he hit high school. It was all Kuzunoha clan training up in the mountains before that. He got his title around the same time, conveniently.

He nods at that question.]

Why not? A nice break from the cafeteria food. [Can he admit he's also enjoying it? Maybe. Plus getting to work with others, with Bakugo and Nanami and Yuji on bringing this together... Combat training and kaiju battles shouldn't be the only way they all work with one another. It was a nice break. Low stakes.]

[He's going to assume "clan" stood in for Raidou's family, considering what he knows of the guy. Not everyone has the same life that Bakugo has. A good family, stable home, high-rank school, etc. Though despite his privilege growing him a pretty horrible attitude and personality, he wasn't willing to just take it for a free ride. Too proud for that.]

[He doubts that's it. Probably more something to do with the massive kaiju battle they just finished. Tired people, injured partners, weary and reeling from the reality. Taking the burden of getting fed off them can help in the recovery. Protectors like Raidou and Yuji would come up with something like this.

But he'll let him go with the "break" rationale. It's not a lie to say it wasn't a good experience to work together on their own time, without LILITH directing them. Even if Bakugo grouched about it at first.]
