[No one would ever peg Bakugo for being someone who wanted to bond with others. So that raises the question how he found himself here. In the cold of the evening air, the setting sun's base dipped into the horizon as golden glows make shadows through the trees beside the Shinjuku Shrine. His breath ghosts white in the air, accenting the warmth inside beneath the wrap of his scarf and jacket. Thirty minutes after 1700, enough time for Raidou to get off work and make his way to the frozen rink.
... Why the fuck did a simple mingle have to be covered in a damn dating app? Because it was February? He knows better than to think it was an accident by Synthia. That AI did it on purpose, forcing confessions of interest and setting up dates between people just for the cost of interaction. Bakugo's never been on a damn date before. He's never been interested enough to go for one, and anyone else has been too intimidated by him to express interest. The only experience he has in these things came from the random chick flick his mother occasionally made him watch with her when he was younger.
But if it's with Raidou... Just a casual date, someone told him. Was it? Who the hell knows. Raidou's not someone Bakugo distinctly dislikes. He gets along with the guy, despite the severe clash in their personalities, and he's been actively involved in helping the summoner a few times. Bakugo's the one who expressed surprise and interest in Raidou knowing how to ice skate in the first place... before that quick joust of who asks.
Waiting outside the rink, Bakugo watches the few people lingering upon the frozen surface, not surprised a few came from the shrine itself. It would be a good way to enjoy the peace of the nearby area, quiet as those in the shrine carried about their serene duties. Though that doesn't stop his eyes from glancing around, searching for Raidou and half expecting the guy to just appear behind him.]

When he gets in some semblance of a lead, that's when he all of a sudden comes to a halt. He turns sideways to slide, and comes to a stop rather quickly, showering ice out ahead of him.
He's only doing it to see if Bakugo can do the same at this speed. No using super powers in public!]
no subject
YOU'RE DEAD!! [Now he's mad! Bakugo digs the tip of his skate into the ice and shoves off, swerving around another skater and dashing after Raidou. He's putting on the speed like a champ, arms moving to accent his momentum and body lowered like he might be trying to tackle the other boy.
Which is a very bad thing considering Raidou suddenly STOPS!! Bakugo's eyes widen as he shoots right past the guy. He immediately turns sideways, slams a skate down, and almost break an ankle as ice shaves and he skids across the surface of the ice a few feet. Almost does down, one hand swinging towards the floor, before he uses the momentum to swing his body back up and wobbles.
Fuck... that was close.]
Rrrrgh! [Someone's gonna die!]
no subject
Ah, good. You can stop.
[He's actually not being sarcastic. Not a thing he ever really does. Teasing, though?
Maybe a little.]
I'd say you definitely have the hang of it again.
no subject
I'll stop on your face. [Childish despite the teasing rib. Bakugo sets his foot down and moves forward, skating slower towards Raidou. At least he doesn't look a threatening menace.] Told you I knew how.
no subject
Oh. Did he stop a little too hard? Raidou looks at him with his head cocked slightly.]
Are you alright? [He already knows the answer he'll get to that.]. We can take a break. Or at least go slower for awhile.
no subject
Seeing that head cock, Bakugo assumes what's coming before Raidou even gets it all the way out.] I'm fine! The skate just needed to readjust after I stopped! [It's not him; it's the skate. Of course.] You really ready to race now?
no subject
If you insist. Do you need to retie it before we go?
[Raidou looks around at the rink, thinking for a moment. He didn't want to interrupt the others out on the ice too much. Any more than they already have, anyway. He slides over next to Bakugo to get ready to go.]
Three laps. That should be good. Just say when you're ready.
no subject
It's fine. I checked before. [When he was shaking his foot. The laces hadn't flopped or anything. Bakugo drops his eyes towards Raidou's skates, just making sure he's not trailing any lines either.
Once Raidou takes his spot beside him, Bakugo leans down in a racer's start. He's dead focused on the task at hand.] You lose a second if you run into someone or make them fall.
no subject
Fair.
[He knows that his start will be the most important past of this. Bakugo will be out for blood. No such thing as friendly competition with him, so Raidou's playing for real now.]
Ready -- Go!
[And he's off like a shot.]
no subject
"Friendly" competition doesn't fly in his book. It's victors and losers! None of this shit competition award. As soon as Raidou says "Go!" he takes off, pushing from the ice and driving after him.
... yeah, after. This fucking skinny conductor ass is fast!]
no subject
He hasn't had a ton of practice going this fast, though, only having this public rink to practice on. Bakugo may have a chance to catch up. But now he's wishing there was an indoor rink in this city. He's loving this.]
no subject
But just jumping back in after three years of no practice, going versus someone who's been at it for two months now, and just as skilled, is problematic. He leans to the side, adjusting his line to be more to the right of Raidou, intending to make up for the slight gap by taking the curve on the inside.]
no subject
He also wishes he'd made the race longer than three laps, but he also didn't want to inconvenience the meager crowd.
Raidou decides to leave a burst of energy for the last lap's final straight portion towards the finish line. He knows that it's his best chance at winning this.]
no subject
Bakugo likewise intends to have fun, but his version of "fun" involves winning. And damn if he's not going to give Raidou the best run he can as he swings towards the last lap. It doesn't seem like he's saving a burst of speed or already did it. Instead, it's constant power straight from the start.]
literally flipped a coin for the winner lol
He's honestly not sure how Bakugo might take it, so instead of saying anything as he catches his breath, he simply gives him a little bow in thanks for a good race.]
i was gonna pitch baku as losing anyways, so works out!
Rghaaah! Shit! It was only by a second at best! I'll leave you in my dust next time! [If anyone's surprised Bakugou's a sore loser, they've not paid attention to him for long. At least there's a desire for a rematch? Amazing he can still be so mouthy while he's winded from the race in the first place...] Congratulations, dammit!
no subject
Bakugo might be making a scene, but Raidou doesn't really seem to care in this case. Instead, he's doing something Bakugo hasn't him doing much of since they arrived - smiling brightly.]
Now I'm wishing we'd have made a bet. Next time, then.
no subject
Though even that fuel and his frustration over losing can't stop the stunned blink of surprise when Raidou turns that brilliant smile on him. Red eyes widen slightly, head twitching back with a tiny noise of shock. The fuck?
He didn't think the guy had that kind of expression in him.
... whoa.]
You... You just wish that cause you won.
no subject
He shrugs a little.]
Maybe. We'll have to come one more time before it closes for the season.
no subject
Right. That's about a month before you graduate, huh.
[Some ice might last through March, but April's a nope.]
no subject
Graduation is the twenty-second of March. [Since the new semester starts in April. Not that he's counting the days or anything.] So before then.
no subject
Within a week then.
no subject
[He thinks for a moment.]
Also gives us time to figure out what to bet. What do you say?

[He thinks for a moment.]
... Loser has to cook the winner dinner.
[Both of them seemed pretty handy in the kitchen, right?]
