( open. ) firefighter calendar mingle!
WHO: everyone!
WHAT: the firefighters put out a calendar every year and guess who is getting everyone involved.
WHERE: the venue for the photoshoot, somewhere in the city.
WHEN: within the first week of their arrival.
WARNINGS: nudity or partial nudity? will update warnings as they come.
The firefighters are looking for models to assist in their yearly calendar. Last year due to some mishaps, they missed the due date for this beloved tradition in the city, and so are not looking to really make sure everything is flawless this year. Since is no error for mistakes, they are even recruiting people to model as firefighters, as well as looking for people who can act as temporary photographers— in a city as busy as this one, it isnβt always easy booking a photographer for certain time slots.β¨
everyone is free to put up their top levels and tag around as they see fit. you can see it as you were messaged by someone randomly on the network about an opportunity to make additional kyptos, or they could have even found an ad. whatever works!

1. As a photographer they are tasked to make the calendar spicy, but also unique! They figure one of the best selling points is variety. No more poses, the more avant-garde, the weirder even, the better! Like if your thing is posing with a carton of eggs, you do you!NOTE: hi, this is the log for the firefighter calendar!
2. Models are incentivized and even ranked (this is arbitrary, so I leave that all to you), so maybe this can also lift the competitive spirit of some! Or maybe you just really want to make some extra kryptos!
3. Outside of photographers and models, also looking for people who can enhance the overall experience. Do coffee runs for everyone, while also hyping or judging the models! Whatever they say fit! People can even stumble into these roles thinking they were here for a completing different reason! Or go out on an errand to come back and suddenly everyone is not as they once were.
4. Just have fun and free to make up your own scenarios! Even if it's walking in like π§ββοΈ I thought this was a pizza party.

aftermath....................
You know, when you said that you're going to call me if you heard of any big money ventures, this wasn't what I had in mind.
[ she didn't expect to have her hair and makeup done, hello??? please end her. ]
ishmael appreciation post
shouldn't we value the honesty here over the actual content? more importantly, his eyes find themselves temporarily focused on her hair. it'd be impossible not to notice that it was tied up, a stark contrast to how flowy and free it appeared when they first met. so, he derails the conversation a little— ] Didn't it work out? You also got new clothes out of it. [ which, for the record, seemed to suit her. or rather, the image he had of her.
unspoken, but it made her look all more fierce. it wasn't unusual for yuwon to consider strength also a form of beauty. though, objectively speaking, yuwon did tend to assess everyone to some degree (listen, sometimes you want to just think about how a dude's muscles and build is perfect and/or fitting for a god, or how a woman with 6 swords was beautiful on the battlefield)— it makes him wonder what she looked like in the midst of combat or out at sea, and so he has a feeling this thought would linger with him. ]
stop this is a christian log and you know it
it's too late now, and she's reaping the benefits of this photoshoot. namely, the new clothes yuwon mentioned. she's no stranger to crop tops, sure, but -- ]
I wasn't really looking for new clothes, though. [ she wrinkles her nose. ] I was only doing you a favor. And now that I know that this is where your favors are leading to, I'm going to have more second thoughts on whether I should hold your hand again next time.
[ is she kidding? you'd better hope she is. it's a little funny to look back on how a simple gesture of holding hands has led her here. her compass is a little weird that way, as she's slowly come to discover.
speaking of hair, she does notice him staring a little too long, and she's grumpy enough to reach her hand up to untie her hair. seriously, it's like gingers has become an endangered species around here when she and childe literally exist. ]
...Don't tell me you're offended with my hair too.
christian mingle...
[ if he seems mildly... pleased at the prospect, it's definitely because he is. he never realized that even here there were some more than willing to proffer a semblance of good will, and well, he'd be a fool to ignore those efforts. at her question, however. ]
Why would I be offended? I like it. [ objectively, it was eye-catching. even if he saw her admist kaiju, he feels like he could have easily picked her out. ]
zi said it, not me
[ meeting such earnest people has been a weird experience so far. that kind of attitude is going to get him killed one day, but maybe this is just a one-time thing. he did survive some journey going up some deadly tower, after all.
no, maybe it's just her. she's not used to nice people, not after -- ]
Well, the costumers wanted me to do something with it. Either I tie it back or cut it off. Can you believe the audacity? [ SIGHS. ] It's whatever. I survived far worse things at sea, anyway. How did you even score this line of work?

he seems to huff a bit as if he said something funny. obviously, he's not serious...
nor did ishmael strike him as the type to act on such impulses. but, perhaps that's exactly why he said it. though, at her other question, he seems to pause almost awkwardly, a hand coming up rub the side of his neck. ] It's my civilian job. Being a firefighter.
no subject
[ outsiders. how appropriate. not just because they aren't from this world, but perhaps it is because they themselves don't fit in some kind of mold -- or at least that's what ishmael's deal is. yuwon... is nothing like any guy she's met so far either, but that's a low bar tbh.
and speaking of the guy: ] A firefighter? Sounds random. Especially when they give out calendars of themselves being wet and half-naked, as if that's going to prevent forest fires.
[ like. be for real rn. ]
no subject
a mission completed for the books. sort of. ] I think the objective is to have the budget be increased. [ though, he can't speak for how that actually works. ] Besides, seeing everyone's bodies makes it easier to assess their abilities... [ says yuwon despite knowing this is a huge....
stretch. ] It works for me since I'm not affected by fire, anyway.
no subject
[ she looks down at herself. her crop top shows off faded scars and a slightly toned abdomen, but she imagines that everyone else on the base would look the same. she's just nothing special, but that's necessarily a bad thing either. ]
We're just taking a photoshoot here. I don't think it matters how we look like since most of us don't even work here.
[ just sayin'. but that one other thing yuwon just said stands out to her. ]
You're immune to fire? How so?
no subject
he gives a small shrug at her words. it's probably not incorrect. he supposed the whole concept of a shoot and outside hires was essentially that it didn't really matter who really were the actual firefighters. ] Who knows? What people don't know doesn't hurt them. [ if they wanted to believe these were the faces of what fought fires in their city, wasn't that good enough?
as long as the firefighters themselves weren't negligent in their duties, that is. but, at her follow-up question, he pauses slightly. it's clear he's not really used to speaking about himself, and it's almost like he got caught in a lie even if it was the truth. ] It's sort of an ability, or maybe you'd call it a skill. The fire has to be pretty intense for me to even feel the heat. [ a pause. ] I never tried it here, though.
no subject
Oh, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to try that out one day. Maybe you'll actually get to save a family from a burning house here.
[ and that means more kryptos for him. it's a win-win! speaking of, that ability does remind her of how the liu fights fire with their fiery martial arts... maybe if she had her ID from that mirror world, then she could've landed in the same fake job too. ]
At least you have a job that pays consistently. I think I might have to go get another just to make ends meet... [ SIGHS it just never ends, bro... ]
no subject
Maybe. To be honest, I'm not used to this much downtime.
[ it's a contrast to the schedule he kept himself on. but at the mention of finding another job— ]
That bad? What sort of job is it?
no subject
[ sighs... ]
So I've been thinking of other options lately. Food service is stressful, but it'll have to do in the meantime. [ she's not obsessed with food like rodya, but she can't turn down free food either... ] It's not as though we can just waltz into any other lines of work when we're practically nonentities in this world, save for the fake identities they made for us.
no subject
[ who comes with experience, no less.
in some ways, that may even be more useful than being a fire-proof firefighter, or so his tone seems to be implying. ]
Food service? [ from his memories, he'd argue that customer service was probably another hell altogether, but he doesn't actually say this. ] A fish restaurant?
no subject
Really? Did you automatically think I'd work at a fish restaurant just because I'm a sailor?
[ her cheeks hurt. ]
I was thinking of those restaurants that serve soup dumplings, pork buns, that kind of place. [ chinese culture exists in her city but it doesn't really have a name, whoops... ] Not sure if I should be trusted with making the food itself, so I can settle for anything else than that. [ a waitress, maybe? ]
no subject
can't there be a sushi chef au for ishmael out there? ]
It helps to have knowledge of what you're working with. [ is his sad defense, which he's only realizing now. but, he supposed she made a fair point— just because he was proficient in hunting monsters didn't make him a dungeon meshi. ]
Is that your preferred type of food? Sounds like cuisine you'd find in the martial arts realm. [ which he sticks to that descripter because he knows it's chinese food, but no one he knows has called it that. ] Well, whatever you do, I'm sure you'll do fine.
