Wriothesley
So then when the agreed upon time rolls around, she’ll be waiting in the Market District, it seemed like a fun starting point on their adventures, leash for Creme Brulee in hand, who’s happy to be out and about this afternoon. She hasn’t been waiting too long either, wearing a smile and offering a small wave when he arrives.]

So it's one day after a workout and a shower and a new change of fresh clothes that he heads out to meet with Makima (and the very important Creme Brulee). Makima gets a wave in reply as he approaches, and Creme Brulee's met with a smile and a carefully held out hand as he crouches down. ]
It's a nice day to be out.
[ Still a little chilly, but at least the sun's out. ]
no subject
[Creme Brulee is very happy to meet a new person and will sniff at his hand before offering a lick. That gets a little bit of a laugh from Makima]
I think he likes you.
[Which isn't a surprise to her, not at all. No, he's very friendly, so she imagines he'll get along with just about anyone.]
And if you're still thinking about one of your own, I imagine the more time around him, the more you'll be convinced.
no subject
You make it sound like some sort of inevitability.
[ The irresistible allure of having a dog…. It would have been a lot more compelling once upon a time, but things are a little different now. ]
Now that I've thought about it more, I'm beginning to see the appeal of not getting one of my own but surrounding myself with people who do own dogs.
[ All of the enjoyment with none of the actual work. Truly a genius move, if you ask him. ]
no subject
I'll expect to see more of you in the future then.
[No, wait, there should be a correction there.]
We both will. Isn't that right?
[A small bark from Creme Brulee seems to be agreeing with that.]
I haven't had him too long so I'm still getting used to it being we again.
no subject
Sure. Things are always best experienced in good company.
[ One last sniff and then he's pushing himself back upright onto his feet. ]
Shall we get going?
no subject
[She really does. Before here, it's not like she spent a lot of time in good company with anyone. But there were a few occasions and they really made an impression on her. And here, she's only gotten more and more opportunity to spend time with people under more pleasant circumstances.
...usually more pleasant anyways.]
And we should. Otherwise, he's liable to make us get going anyways.
[Said with a laugh as Creme Brulee scampers around on the leash clearly ready to go.]
I think I saw a shop selling some treats over that way, I was thinking we could head there first.
[She points over in the direction of it, starting to head that way.]
Or at least they look like they might be treats he could eat.
[Not entirely sure, she didn't look too closely on her way to their meeting place.]
no subject
Lead the way.
[ He'll follow alongside at a leisurely pace, content to enjoy being outside and around the bustling crowds of Neo-Tokyo. It's not what he's used to, but it still manages to be interesting in its own way. ]
Is training dogs part of what helped you become such a good manager? I imagine there are similar principles between the two.
[ Being strict but not overbearing, using positive reinforcement rather than negative punishment to foster a good environment... ]
no subject
[Leisurely pace is definitely the right speed here. Makima's not in a hurry. Creme Brulee is hustling along but at his size, it's easy to keep up with him, especially as he stops to look at or sniff the occasional passerby.]
And I do apply similar approaches to both. I don't think I'd be the person I am today if I wasn't good with dogs.

How does it feel to be set back to being a regular employee here? Do you miss it?
no subject
[It's not a huge issue, like she said, it's all been minor. It's not like there's been anything she's found hugely disagreeable.]
But I don't miss having to make reports or coordinate with other departments. I never particularly enjoyed the former and the latter can take so much effort for something that's necessary for everyone.
no subject
[ Though she sounds content with where she is right now. And why not? They've gotten their first real paycheck, enough to let them afford an easy day out like this at the market. ]
Though I'd have to agree with you as far as coordination is concerned. Even without schedules to factor in, having to account for and guide multiple different viewpoints towards one acceptable compromise can be quite the draining task.
[ He glances over to where Creme Brulee is happily sniffing away. ]
It must be nice to be a dog, never having to worry about any of that.
no subject
[Said while smiling at Creme Brulee who’s continuing to sniff and scamper. A gentle pull on the leash just to keep him from going off in the wrong direction, taking them to who knows where.]
Still, we can’t all be dogs, tempting as it might seem.
[She can think of a few people the idea might appeal to, but ultimately there's somebody who has to hold the leash. Metaphorically or literally.]

Manjoume
[Makima says with a wave over in the common area. It’s been a while since their last chat, and she figures that this is a good opportunity to make up for that. Everything’s been so busy between the whale and the auction that she hasn’t found as much time to socialize as she’d like to. Some sure, it’s not like she’s been all work all the time, but she’s overdue for reconnecting with some people. Especially teammates. Especially one that’s a neighbor.]
It’s been a little while since we’ve had the opportunity to talk. How are things going for you?
[There’d probably been some pleasantries here and there in the hall but not anything substantial. So this is an attempt to make up for that.]
no subject
[This is accompanied by a polite bow of the head in greeting before he approaches.]
Things are going better... especially now that I'm not randomly sprouting octopus legs anymore.
[The whale fight ended up doing a number on Manjoume unfortunately, including having some side effects from the gem that everyone had been given to assist in the battle. Makima may have very likely seen him struggling to drag himself from his room and back from places once or twice due to constantly tripping over those tentacles that had lingered for a few days after the fight.]
What about you? Have you been doing well?
no subject
[A little bit of a smile there. It was strange, that’s for sure. And not the easiest thing in the world to manage either, not that she’d say she had it worse. Kind of amusing for her to look back on though.]
And I’ve been well, thanks for asking in return. I’ve been enjoying having some time to myself.
[There’s things to do, of course. The hybrids and all of that, but it’s just not as much as having to do a raid battle while at sea.]
no subject
Oh, yikes. Did you have to worry about accidentally stinging yourself or others due to dealing with jellyfish ones by comparison?
[At least Manjoume by comparison mostly just had to deal with the octopus tentacles flailing or slipping over water and occasional ink...]
no subject
[Her and Ish had joked a little about stinging someone but she never actually did it.]
It could've been worse though, at least it wasn't like the Fly. Have you seen that one?
no subject
[Manjoume tilts his head a bit, frowning.]
I think... that's a movie, right? Or at least it sounds like one I've heard of once, but I'm not familiar with it, unfortunately.
no subject
[Though she imagines no one would disagree there.]
no subject
That bad of a transformation, huh... did you like this remake, or do you prefer the original because of that?
no subject
[She'll think about it for a moment.]
I prefer the remake actually, but the ending of the original tends to stick with the viewer.
no subject
no subject
[Thankfully? It'd be concerning if that wasn't the case.]
And I understand the criticism of remaking something, but I do feel the West had a couple of good ones around that time period. We've talked about the Fly, but there was also the Thing, which I thought was well made.
Not that the only movies I watch are horror, please don't get the wrong idea, I enjoy all genres.
no subject
I didn't realize you were such a movie buff, Makima-san.
[Or at the very least, she's definitely more well-versed on the subject than Manjoume is here.]
