Hmm, but why not sweet in that case? I assume most foods and treats tend to lean towards the more savoury end of things.

Mmhmm. Not sweet like candy, but there's peanut butter. And things like carob as well. Sort of like chocolate, but it's something they can actually have.

[She'll list a couple other options, but those are the two she thinks they're likely to find.]

So the next question would be do you think something chewy or crunchy?

[ This may just be a treat for a good boy, but somehow it feels like a whole weight on his shoulders. ]

This sure is a lot of pressure being placed upon me. [ He's joking, mostly. ] If I pick wrong, perhaps I'll make a mortal enemy out of Creme Brulee.

[A laugh here as Creme Brulee prances around a little looking at the two of them.]

He does seem the type to hold a grudge.

[ Damn. Looks like he better take this seriously. Wriothesley closes his eyes briefly, pretending to be deep in thought. ]

Let's go with crunchy. And if he ends up not liking it, then I will personally return here and buy him an apology gift.

As his representative, he agrees to those terms.

[It was very hard for her to keep a straight face while making that statement. So now that it's done, she smiles again about it.]

[ This very serious deal about dog treats. But to be honest, it's nice to let loose like this every now and then, to be able to go out and just enjoy himself. ]

[She'll laugh at that. Getting her something is a nice offer though, that was a bit of a surprise.]

If so, I think I'd prefer from a different shop. Thank you though, I wasn't expecting to get something too.

But based on past observation of Sigewinne's meticulous gift-giving choosing when it came to Clorinde and Furina, he'd take a guess that crunchy peanut butter treats aren't the norm when it comes to gifts for women. ]

You say that as though you don't get the opportunity to do so often. Surely you have other friends you can share all this knowledge with.

I don't actually. I do have friends, of course, but it's not something they're terribly interested in.

[A friend? Maybe? It's questionable.]

And here, no one's asked for my expertise, and while I'm happy to talk about my love of dogs, I don't want to badger them with unsolicited advice.

[ Somehow that seems hard to believe. He tilts his head, curious. ]

Not one other friend with a dog? Not even among your subordinates?

Oh, I'm sure some of them do. Or did. But it doesn't tend to come up and we have an unfortunately high turnover rate.

[Really not a lot of chance to find out about pets and talk about them when they're being killed by one Devil or another.]

And some people find me...difficult to approach. I imagine that plays a part in their reluctance to casually with me, but that hasn't been a problem here.

Difficult? Because of your role in management?

[ Her personality has never struck as caustic or rough, but there's always bound to be something of a struggle when it comes to power imbalances in the workforce. He ought to know, having turned plenty of people into quivering piles by just existing despite his best intentions. ]

That would be my guess. I don't particularly blame them. Truth be told I find it difficult to approach my bosses too.

[It's a universal thing, probably.

Except not since Makima's reasons for that and others reasons for having trouble with her aren't always the same reason.]

And it has been easier here. I've enjoyed that.

[Okay there's a couple people that find her difficult to talk to here but they're exceptions.]

[ Fair point. One with an easy solution. ]

Just climb your way to the very top and then you won't have to answer to anyone but yourself.

[ It worked for him! Though maybe his was a bit of a unique situation and not one he'd actually advise anyone to follow. In the end though, none of that really matters here. ]

That's good to hear. Now, why don't you tell me what else you enjoy so we can get started on finding a perfect gift for you?

Now there's an idea. I'm not sure how well that would go over though.

[It's laughed off a little, she's not interested in running the whole show, thankfully. And even if she was, that might be a little difficult given a number of circumstances.]

Let's see though, what else do I like besides dogs? I feel like that's the main thing people hear about these days, but I promise there's more. I'm a big fan of movies, I like a variety of desserts, I love wearing a suit even though I feel as if I've spent a small fortune on lint rollers...

[ He nods along as she lists off her likes, eyes lighting up at the mention of movies. Sure, they have movies back in Fontaine, but the ones here are on a completely different level. ]

Any particular genre of movies you prefer? I don't think I've ever seen such a wide range of movies as I have since arriving here.

[ Truly something for everyone... ]

I'm a fan of all kinds, I feel like I have favorites in every genre. And I take it you enjoy them as well?
