For those Outsiders on the younger side, Raidou has sent out a blanket text message to one and all inviting them to a hanami picnic at a park near the base. Everyone is encouraged to bring whatever snacks and entertainment they like, but it's not a requirement. Yukata are also encouraged but not required. This isn't anything formal, just a chance for everyone to hang out, for the newbie kids to get acquainted with their fellow Outsiders, and to get a little comeuppance on the adults who got to go out on a bar crawl without them all. The only rule is that adults will be turned away from sitting with them! Sorry, folks.

Raidou Kuzunoha is not exactly a person known for his social aptitude or party planning skills, and it's a miracle he's even come up with this idea, so it's definitely a good idea for people to bring want: food, drinks, games. Someone needs to sneak in the sake, because this straight-laced kid will not be. Not to fear if you come empty-handed though, as there are plenty of snack stalls nearby. Most of his efforts have gone into finding and securing the perfect spot for them to hang.

Not really.

[ There are people way more off-putting in this world. Kaworu's a weird little guy but he's his weird little guy. In a way, Kaworu's circumstances reminded him of his own. Elan gives a shrug. ]

I mean, how many of us even know each other's names?

I searched out everyone in Brimstone when I first arrived. But some of them are gone.

[So... he did at one time maybe get close. Still, he can't really argue so he shrugs.]

I was curious. But it seems convenient too.

[ Huh. Did he really go out of his way to meet everyone. Elan didn't expect him to be so hung up about the subject. ]

Do you want us to be a team?

I was part of a team at NERV but I didn't like the First Child and Shinji-kun always avoided me and the Second was long in a coma after getting her psyche attacked.

[Wow. TMI.]

Many humans are happy to be on a team. I want to understand what it's like.

[ Yikes. Tell him more, Elan's genuinely gripped by his messed up backstory. ]

Forget about Brimstone. You'd be better off joining a club or sports team.

[ Brimstone is more like a military unit anyway, not the kind of team to be in for fun. ]

[He says the word as if saying it alopud will help him better understand it.]

Like with a racket? Or a ball? It seems tiring.

[He's heard of these things. But certainly never done them.]

You won't make the team with that attitude!

I wasn't created for things like that. Fighting comes more naturally to me.

[Not that he looks it. But piloting is a form of fighting after all.]

What team would I even join?

Go to school. You'll have plenty of teams to pick from!

[ Would that even go well? He has his doubts, but Kaworu should have the chance to experience a life outside of fighting. ]

School is boring. I just go to the music room.

[His civilian identity is "student" after all. But he fares no better with the kids in Neo-Tokyo than the few he met in Tokyo-III]

[ Elan doesn't disagree there. The video lectures are dull and faking an identity gets old, and he would be surprised if Kaworu didn't have trouble fitting in. ]

Do you like music?

I play piano. It was one of the few things that my creators found valuable about humanity and so allowed me to do it.

I suppose I do enjoy it.

[ He sure hopes Kaworu doesn't talk like that at school... But, finally something normal about the boy. ]

Why not join the orchestra or choir.
