( OPEN ) we are here and going to make it everyone's problem

WHO: Team Everlight and YOU
WHAT: Breaking the ice with a spontaneous slumber party
WHERE: Everlight wing
WHEN: Some time after arrival
WARNINGS: Destroying friendships with UNO or something. Will edit for real as things come up.

(The fun thing about being taken and thrown into a new place is no one really knows you so when Tsurumaru Kuninaga is missing from dinner, he's sure no one really notices. Eventually someone will learn that whenever he's missing for too long, he's probably up to something if he doesn't actually have something to do.

He returns some time towards the end of dinner, when most people have probably begun to settle a bit for the evening. He stumble-dashes back to the base with an armful of plastic shopping bags and oooh he is definitely up to something…
)

& SET UP
In the Everlight wing, they need to do some ☆re-arranging☆. Some desks and chairs need to be borrowed from rooms to drag outside for the food. While they're at it, they might as well grab the blankets and pillows too. They might also have to figure out what appropriate music to play. So maybe someone knocks on your door to commandeer your furniture and time. Or maybe they figure out a way to play music so everyone can hear and you end up drawn out by music.

Maybe you get sent out to buy more snacks and drinks for everyone while you're standing around with nothing to do. Let's go, Everlights. It's time to drag people into early shenanigans.

& FOOD & GAMES
There is plenty of food to be found. Check out the mixed bottles of different flavored sodas and teas, assorted chocolates, and other sweets from the convenience stores. Eventually, a couple of pizzas and a few more substantial things might show up on the table. Some of them are traditional flavors characters will be used to seeing but others may… be more out there. There sure are a lot of more experimental foods combinations in the future, huh? Have you ever tried coffee-flavored water? Yogurt-flavored potato chips? Flaming hot lava chocolate? What about calamari Oreo pizza? Well, now is your chance.

There are also stacks of playing cards and maybe some other silly toys and games from whatever is the equivalent of a dollar/pound store in the future. The 100 Kryptos store? Which version of UNO do you know how to play? Do you know how to play Werewolf or Mafia? There are plenty of bottles to spin. Give someone a call and see if they answer or else you have to eat one of those cursed pizza slices. Of course, when enough people gather around, there are plenty of other ways to make your own fun.

& CHILL
For more introverted characters that might want a quieter place to hang out, some Everlight has probably left their room open. Pillows and blankets have been piled into the room to make it a quieter, more laidback place to hang out. When was the last time you made a pillow fort?

// WILDCARD/OOC
Hello, Tsuru gets bored easily and he wants everyone to have ☆good vibes☆ because bad vibes make him sad so he is steamrolling and dragging people into slumber party shenanigans. It's in the Everlight wing but other characters can hop over if they're curious or dragged in. I asked the mods about the potential consequences of staying the night and they said it would be fine for the slumber party so go wild.

Treat this as an open mingle and feel free to come up with your own ideas and tag around. If anyone really needs me for anything, you can DM me or catch me on plurk ([plurk.com profile] yosakoi ).

[He seems to have already predicted this and as soon as Shion holds his hand out, Bakugo drops a die into it. They're the basic normal die one would get at a convenience store, but black with white dots. Not that it matters to a blind guy. Since they're new, the depressions of the dots are quite apparent and should feel clearly on Shion's fingers.

At least this means he won't be asking people over and over for the card faces, which is a shit way to play. Not competitive at all if everyone knows your hand.]

We're playing Greed. [Aka: Farkle or any of its other similar/synonymous names.] You gather points based on what shows on five dice after you roll.

[personal profile] blindspotting 2023-12-17 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ He does, in fact, roll the die around in his hand to get a feel for it, but Shion's attention is more on what he can sense from it in other ways. The impressions on the sides are faint but barely readable if he concentrates, and of course readily apparent to the brush of his fingers.

That will do nicely. His mouth ticks up as he offers the cube back to Bakugo. ]

That sounds reasonable enough, though I admit to not having played before. Will you go easy on me?

[ Judging by the attitude so far, he's betting not. It doesn't bother him much, but it is a bit funny. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Gonna wreck some fucking faces.)

feel free to pm me if you got questions on the rules (or kudos if you know how to play~)

[personal profile] blastedass 2023-12-17 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
[It's better than trying to feel up a playing card that would only read "smooth" on all sides. They're not fancy enough for textured surfaces on gas-station Uno cards. Bakugo waits to see what the verdict will be on the die. Apart from cards and die, maybe there are some coin games, but hell if this motley assortment is going to be able to agree on how or what's played.

Good. Bakugo takes the die back and drops it in the cup.]

Tch. Ask luck. [It's got nothing to do with skill. Just luck and your own guts.] Now listen up.

You roll five dice. 1's are worth 100 points. 5's are worth 50 points. The rest are worth shit.
Unless there are three of a kind; then they're worth a hundred times their face value. Three 2's are 200 points.
A straight, such as a 1, a 2, a 3, a 4, and a 5, or a 2, a 3, a 4, a 5, and a 6, are worth 750 points.
Once you roll, you can remove any number of 1's and/or 5's you get, minimum of one, then roll the rest again.
If you roll and get no 1's or 5's, your turn ends and whatever points you accumulated, you lose.
If you want to stop, you keep what points you've gathered and your turn ends.

[That's the simplified version of the rules he learned.]

I see. [ It's only partially a joke.

But Shion's eyebrows draw together as he considers that wave of information. He's doubtless going to lose a few rounds anyway, and isn't particularly concerned about it. The worst that happens is Bakugo gets frustrated with him and gives up.

It pulls a faint smile at one corner of his mouth. The best way to learn is by doing, isn't it? ]

Did you want to go first, then?
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 I wanna hear some damn silence.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2023-12-22 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Who knows if the guy can feel Bakugou giving him an irritated wry look for that lame ass pun. Then again, it's a colloquial response, so whatever. He rattles the dice in the cup, then glances around the table at the other two players. Four on four. It's going to take a combination of luck and guts to win this thing. Not much skill when it comes to randomly throwing dice and hoping for good numbers to come up.]

We roll to decide that. Highest dice goes first.

[He tosses the dice to the other two players and rolls one over to Shion. Then casts his.]

Five.
blindspotting: (09)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2023-12-27 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ His smile only widens in the face of Bakugou's apparent displeasure, but he leans forward to gather up the die that's been passed to him rather than comment. Shion weighs it in his hand for a second, curious, then rolls it out in front of him.

Oh good, he can tell what it says, but he reaches over to run his fingers across the top surface just in case. ]

Ah. Two?

[ Not off to a great start. Oh well. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Get to the damn point already.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2023-12-28 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[You're going to eat these dice if your grin gets any bigger, bastard... But he has a game to start and that's more important. Bakugou glares at the other two they're playing with to make sure they keep their damn mouths shut rather than try to call out Shion's number for him. The blind guy intends to play despite the handicap, then they better give him the fucking respect to treat him like an equal player!

That doesn't mean Bakugou isn't watching him like a hawk to make sure he doesn't try to palm the dice into a better number... Some people are fucking scummy.]

It's going clockwise, so you're second anyways.

[After Bakugou's going first that is; his five was the highest.]
blindspotting: (03)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2023-12-28 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[ He does get the feeling he's going to be learning new rules as they suddenly arise, but that's alright. One way or the other, Shion will learn. He's always learned better by doing, anyway.

Once all of the initial dice have been rolled, he focuses carefully back in on Bakugou, all solemn attention as the first round begins. ]

Incidentally, what happens if you win?
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Tch-!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2023-12-29 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Bakugou's already laid out the rules for this one; it's just a matter of reminding and recognizing. Well, adding the points, but it's still a game even someone who can't see can play. Albeit taking a bit longer with his turns.

Bakugou takes a roll, watching the dice end up on a 4, 5, 3, 3, and 6.]

Tch. [Nothing but a 5. Fifty points. So he sets that one out, rolls the four remaining die, and comes up with 1, 3, 2, and 6. Just a 1, so that's a hundred points. With that die out, a third roll... and there's neither a 1 or a 5 there. Bust.

Fuck. He scoops up the die and puts them in Shion's hand.]

You win. No one's doing prizes.
blindspotting: (11)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2023-12-30 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
The pride of victory, then.

[ Sounds as good as anything.

Shion considers the collection of dice in his hand for a second, feeling them as they shift. He could conceivably figure out a way to roll exactly the numbers he wants, but that seems like a lot of effort for a very silly game. Perhaps some other time.

For now, he just lets them roll, then frowns as he considers the results. 3, 6, 1, 6, 4, and Shion carefully sets the 1 aside to roll the rest again. 1, 2, 2, 3, and another 1 set aside. 6, 6, 5, and the 5 goes to join the others. With that, finally, his luck seems to have ended, and with a small smile he gathers the dice up to pass them to the next person. ]

How was that?
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 I'm hearing blah blah blah!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2023-12-30 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh. [Just a grunted response to that musing comment. Of course it's the pride of victory. That's why it's Bakugou's aim to win in every competition he's in! (And being naturally and aggressively competitive, that can be a lot of stuff.)

He watches Shion palm the die, wondering what kind of skills the guy has to compensate for his blindness. Isn't that how it works? Blind people, especially combat types, find ways around their handicap. Enhanced senses. Additional senses. A different kind of sight. Tactile. Sensory. Etc. Some people can even manipulate the things they do because of their blindness...

But Shion rolls. Gets up to 350 before he busts.]
Halfway there. [The die pass off to the other two.] So what, is your sense of touch or hearing that good?

[Might as well bluntly get the elephant out of the room and learn.]
blindspotting: (pic#16914152)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2024-01-02 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
That is part of it.

[ And it's true enough, that his hearing makes up for a lot. But that's not what Bakugou is really asking, and when the urge to tease comes over him Shion has a hard time rejecting it. Perhaps part of him will always be a performer at heart.

While the person next to him is deliberating, Shion liberates one of the banked dice and holds it out to Bakugou. ]

Here. Roll this and don't tell me what it says. I promise not to touch.
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 Come on!! Seriously?!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-02 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Figures. Enhanced hearing is usually how the blind compensate (in comics) for the lack of sight. Meaning that'll be a problem if he's working with the guy. He doesn't want to blow his sensitive eardrums out by setting off an explosion next to him. Despite it being a game, Bakugou doesn't mind using it to learn more in regards to their future missions.

He blinks at the sudden offer of the dice. Uh... The fuck?]
Haa? I'm not doubting you!

[Even as he rolls it between him and Shion. Five.]
blindspotting: (pic#16914168)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2024-01-04 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ He just smiles faintly and folds his hands on the table in front of him. It takes a moment to focus in enough on the little die, Shion's eyebrows drawing together slightly, before enough detail settles into his perception. ]

Ah. Five.

[ There, no senses necessary. Or at least not any of the usual ones. ]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 I'm hearing blah blah blah!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-04 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Bakugo pays attention to Shion the entire time, noting his ears, eyes, nose, brows, face, hands, anything that might give a tell on how the man is sensing the die. Even if he knows it's his hearing, there are elements that he wants to draw out if possible. Just in case.

Like noting that it takes a moment and there's obvious focus since the Shion's brows knit. Not as fast as sight, but still quick. Good to know. There's a small delay necessary for him to either pick out the sound and/or decipher it.

At least that's what Bakugo's thinking...]

Yeah. I heard you. You've got good ears.

[He takes his turn, rolling the five die across the table. 1 2 3 4 5.] 750, first one in!

[And promptly sweeps the die up again and rolls them. 2 2 5 6 6.] Tch. 800. I'll take it.

[If that 5 had been a 4, he would've lost the lot.]
blindspotting: (pic#16914152)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2024-01-05 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Apparently his performance can use some work, then. Ah well, good to know.

He lets himself be distracted by the game again anyway, carefully tracking Bakugou's actions like he might be tested on them later. When the dice come to him again, he rolls faster this time. 3 3 5 4 3. 350?

After a moment's consideration, he sets the five to the side and rolls again. 4 6 5 2. This time he nods and decides it's not worth the risk. ]

400, then. Better, I think?
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 Well damn...)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-05 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Bakugou's still not sure how the guy managed to know it was a 5 just by hearing... There's a difference between feeling the dice face and hearing it. But that's the only logical conclusion, outside of feeling vibrations, and even that's a stretch. Unless Shion's got some other way of knowing the number... Possibly.

Something to talk about later. Bakugou nods at the first summation of Shion's points. The man's picking this up quickly, both the scoring and telling the numbers due to that faster roll. A natural?]

Yeah. You need 750 to start banking your points though. Can't lose anything rolling those last three.

[Three of a kind still gets Shion points, or he could eek his way back to rolling all five again if he keeps getting 5s and 1s.]
blindspotting: (12)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2024-01-17 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. I see.

[ So many rules to consider. Still, he doesn't seem particularly bothered by the loss, idly listening as the turns go around the table. There does at least seem to be some sort of increasingly heated competition happening, which makes him tip his attention back towards Bakugou. ]

Thank you, incidentally. I appreciate all of the assistance.

[ It would be much easier to simply leave him in the dust, and honestly Shion wouldn't have minded. But if they are going to play the game, he might as well try. Having someone to explain it all neatly has been invaluable. ]
blastedass: by cytes @ dw (gift ~ Don't Take) (💥 Explosion!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-17 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's certainly a bundle at the start, but they come together quickly enough and don't change. Mostly lucky rolls and addition. The game really gets going once the four of them are all on the board, and then becomes a race to see who can reach the 10,000 marker first.

Did you get lucky and roll three or more of a kind to rake in a big point take? Did you get greedy and roll those last two die to try and score more, only to lose what you could've kept? Or did you cling by your teeth and scrape your way up with a bunch of one's and five's to reroll the entire set for another chance at combos? Or did you play it safe and stop after netting a few hundred points, thinking slow but steady will ultimately prevail over risky gambles?

Bakugou goes for the big rolls, elated when his luck soars, but exploding the rare times his ambition gets the better of him and his luck turns a fucking traitor on him. He more often banks what he gains rather than risks it all on a single die roll...]

Hmph. [Getting thanked earns a brief grunt of acknowledgement before Bakugou passes the dice to Shion.] Could you really have played cards?

[It's gruff, but genuinely curious, rather than sarcastically assuming the blind man can't.]
blindspotting: (03)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2024-01-19 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Probably not.

[ It's an easy admittance, as Shion begins his rolls. He's a much more reserved player, seemingly content to press on until he has enough points for it to count before moving on. Then again he isn't particularly concerned about winning, so when the goal is just to provide a challenge for someone else, it becomes easy enough to risk less. ]

But it seemed worth trying, when offered. [ Maybe there could have been just enough imperfections on the cards that he would have been able to tell them apart, maybe it might have been a game that didn't require being able to read the faces. Not likely, but possible. Maybe he does gamble, in his own way. ]

It's good to try things even if you might fail, I think.
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Piss off ya bloody wanker.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-19 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Haa!? You were getting ready to be dealt in!

[This guy just say that so easily! Wasn't he aware of what happens in a card game? It'd be like trying to play most video games blind! Impossible to do unless there's some other version of sight happening. Though Shion currently has the highest single-turn point pool, having rolled a 2 through 6 (for a 750) and then three 1's (an additional 1000) on the following roll. Brought him from last place roaring up to contend with the other three players in a neck and neck race.]

Tch. Have you ever played cards before? [While he can't fault the guy for wanting to try new things, being unafraid (or unbothered) by failure, especially in the face of his own handicap, there's also this thing called logic? Whatever, if that's what this guy wants to do, then he can do it. In Bakugo's mind, it's far more fair playing ground to compete at a dice game with a blind man than it is to play cards and feel like he's taking advantage of someone's handicap. Simple as that.]
blindspotting: (19)

[personal profile] blindspotting 2024-01-22 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I have not.

[ Undoubtedly if he'd tried before someone would have objected in much the same way Bakugo has, though Shion can think with amusement of at least one former clanmate who would have been delighted to take whatever advantage they could. He's not stupid enough to try to play for anything like money, at least. A loss of imaginary points, he can handle, actual gambling is probably a bit much. ]

But there are a good many things here I've never encountered before, so why not?

[ There's a voice in his head that reads messages to him. Surely a card game can't be that much stranger. ]

You're fond of these games, I take it?
