[ A few days after the girls have had their fun (cause girls just wanna have fun), another blanket text sweeps over the Outsiders' inboxes. This time, it's from Kaito: and he is proposing a very original idea that all the guys should come by the hot springs in a few days' time. Gossip and bathing are optional, but an empty stomach is mandatory.

Several pictures of newly purchased smokers, grills, and even a fucking pizza oven can be seen at various points throughout the message. There are also mountains of stacked beer and soda cases. Kaito's apparently going to be cooking enough to feed the whole base, or so he purports.

Where did he get all the money for this? Whatever, it's free!

He also adds in no uncertain terms that if any girls try to show up and sneak a snack, he will send them home with a stern warning and a bottle of water.

If you take him up on the invitation, welcome! It's a spring cookout and Pitmaster Kaito Nagano is going to be serving up enough barbeque to temporarily turn the onsen area into a Texan territory within Japan. Seriously, there's gonna be a metric fuckton of food and booze, and the hot springs will be right there when you're ready to get hot and hungover.

There are absolutely no plans after food. Feel free to stick around and socialize, but you will not be publicly shamed for just yoinking a plate and dip setting. Probably.

Aside from the barbeque, there are some horseshoes and cornhole boards set up (google it, it's safe, this is not a bit it's just a funny name for an american game) for dudes to try their hand-eye coordination at after having one too many drinks.

If you're feeling particularly brave, Kaito's got an ice box full of artificial fish (all the meat's artificial, let's be real) that you can try to attract a feral cat with. Good luck. ]

[ This has nothing to do with what they're talking about, but Megumi inches closer to the other boy, tugging lightly at his finger. As someone who gets cold and overheats easily, he's stayed far longer in the onsen than he typically would, but he isn't getting out for some reason.

Come on, turn and notice him.

This is probably also the first time the other boy has seen him without a shirt - or clothes for that matter, but his hips are below the water. ]

[ The tug grabs his attention and he turns his head, expression brightening immediately when he sees Megumi. It always does - the immediate fondness of wanting to wrap his arms around his friend and squeeze him in greeting is there, but, hey, this is a hot spring.

Leaning back, he tilts his head, expression warm. ]

You okay, Megumi?

[ Naked hugging is lewd, Yuji. ]

No ... [ It must take a lot to make Megumi admit something like this. This is a boy who can be stabbed and still claim that he is 'fine'. What could be wrong here?! He averts his eyes but doesn't let the other boy's fingers go. ]

Cat took ... my towel ... [ Oh, it's just that. ]

[ He's a lewd boy.

Oh... Tilting his head, he lets his lips curl into a little smile as he leans in. He's not looking at Megumi's - you know - but trying to slide in front of him. Protect him with the bulk of his muscles! ]

Do you want me to go and get you another one?

[ It isn't too bad right now because his lower half is obscured by the water, but he's grateful for the consideration, shifting behind the other boy and allowing himself to be partially hidden behind his ... bulk. Without much thought, Megumi rests a hand on the other boy's shoulder, and he takes note of how firm the muscle is, and the differences in their build. The other boy was so sculpted yet barely worked out.

He looks away when he finds himself staring, and lets out a sigh. Yeah. If you can.

[ Yuji shifts a little, lifting his hand to press it over Megumi's without thinking. There simply isn't a part of him that doesn't want to take care of his friend, so this feels completely natural to him, his head tilting as he nods with a smile. ]

It's no trouble. Give me a minute, okay?

[ With the other boy getting out to fetch him the towel, Megumi sinks deeper into the water, feeling silly he had to ask for the other boy's help at all. He can't stay in here forever waiting for the others to get out, though. He'll probably end up overheating if he does that. ]

[eyescar]

[ Yuji is quick to go and grab another towel, no hesitation, sliding back towards the hot spring and dropping down into it to hover beside Megumi again. No hesitation - he holds out the towel with a grin. ]

There we go. No problem.

[ With that, Megumi can finally rise out of the water, thankful to be out of that suffocating heat of it. The first thirty minutes were nice, but there's only so much he can take with how sensitive he can be to temperatures. He doesn't leave yet, still enjoying the warmth of the water over his legs, but he does sit over the edge, towel draped over his thighs for some modesty (a small amount of modesty, anyway. He's with someone he trusts, so he's not too self-conscious). His skin is flushed and damp from being in the spring, his hair flatter on his head, and he exhales. ]

There are too many people here. [ More people than he wants to mingle with. It's better to come with a small group of friends, he thinks. ]

And all they want to do is talk about girls ... [ Can't relate........ ]

[ Yuji stays bobbing in the water until Megumi is settled and comfortable, then he crosses his arms over on the edge and peers up at his friend with a smile. It's nice to see Megumi a little more relaxed, letting himself take a break, that kind of thing. Stuff has been pretty hard lately. ]

It is a little crowded, isn't it? We should come back when it's quieter.

[ Alas. ]

I'm surprised by how focused the conversation is, considering how many adults there are. Aren't there more important things?

[ This is nice. He doesn't know if he wants to mingle with everyone here, but spending some quiet time with his friend in the onsen is so ideal. ]

Well, I don't think our adults act very different from us. In fact, I can't say any of them have earned my respect.

[ Just like he doesn't respect their senpais at him, he cannot respect the older guys here because most of them act so goofy. ]

None of them? Some of them are pretty cool...

[ Yuji tilts his head, considering. Not Megumi's dad, but... ]

Wriothesley-san is cool, and Tary-san... Tsurumaru-san is good for training, I guess?
