[ A few days after the girls have had their fun (cause girls just wanna have fun), another blanket text sweeps over the Outsiders' inboxes. This time, it's from Kaito: and he is proposing a very original idea that all the guys should come by the hot springs in a few days' time. Gossip and bathing are optional, but an empty stomach is mandatory.

Several pictures of newly purchased smokers, grills, and even a fucking pizza oven can be seen at various points throughout the message. There are also mountains of stacked beer and soda cases. Kaito's apparently going to be cooking enough to feed the whole base, or so he purports.

Where did he get all the money for this? Whatever, it's free!

He also adds in no uncertain terms that if any girls try to show up and sneak a snack, he will send them home with a stern warning and a bottle of water.

If you take him up on the invitation, welcome! It's a spring cookout and Pitmaster Kaito Nagano is going to be serving up enough barbeque to temporarily turn the onsen area into a Texan territory within Japan. Seriously, there's gonna be a metric fuckton of food and booze, and the hot springs will be right there when you're ready to get hot and hungover.

There are absolutely no plans after food. Feel free to stick around and socialize, but you will not be publicly shamed for just yoinking a plate and dip setting. Probably.

Aside from the barbeque, there are some horseshoes and cornhole boards set up (google it, it's safe, this is not a bit it's just a funny name for an american game) for dudes to try their hand-eye coordination at after having one too many drinks.

If you're feeling particularly brave, Kaito's got an ice box full of artificial fish (all the meat's artificial, let's be real) that you can try to attract a feral cat with. Good luck. ]

[ That certainly sounds intriguing, and Yesod turns to regard Taryon, listening. He can also relate to having to remain on the sidelines, aside from assisting with the generators to disable — landing on the receiving end of the Yamadenki's attacks would undoubtedly have damaged his components. ]

Apart from cleaning? Not much as of now. [He folds his arms and watches the roomba wander around the indoor seating area.] I upgraded them so I can send spells to you guys on the battlefields. It's more convenient when there are so many potential people who need a boost in a fight.

[ The roomba's standard capabilities are useful as it is — and it doesn't seem inclined to attack instead of cleaning — but its modifications would be interesting to witness. Yesod tilts his head slightly in a question. Spells? ]

I see... There are sure to be future opportunities to make use of your support measures. Do you have further upgrade plans?

I could add more resistance to certain types of magic, if I can find the right components. The problem is that this world doesn't have any dragon scales or the herbs I'm thinking of. [He lifts the soda can to his lips, but stops before he can drink.] There's also the fact that the roombas are programmed against direct violence. I need to get creative in how they can be used.

[ This combination of magic and technology leads Yesod to wonder whether it could extend to other preparations ahead of the next kaiju mission. Then again, that might be too much of an experiment, at this stage. ]

Perhaps substitute materials exist here that possess similar properties to your required components.

Are the roombas currently the only machines available for your use?

I think so. There's the whale and the lizard...I could try asking if I can borrow some hides for my potions...Although I'm not leatherworker. If you know anyone that can sew, I can do the enchanting.

[He grew up rich! There was no need to learn simple life skills like making clothes.]

Just the roombas. All these other robots are too expensive. [He sips his soda.] I did have my own robot, a large one, back home. I don't know what it will take to bring him over here. Doty would be an amazing help if I could have him by my side...

[ Finding innovative ways to use kaiju parts would be quite resourceful, maybe enough to secure LILITH's permission, and Yesod considers the possibility of Taryon's collaborative ideas succeeding. There must be people here who have leatherworking skills or at least sufficient sewing experience — LILITH has collected a broad range of recruits, it seems. ]

If LILITH grants your request, I'll approach my acquaintances to pursue the endeavor further.

[ This mention of other robots and their cost is interesting, too... And that they are all firmly in a separate category from machines that are sapient because of their construction. ]

Negotiations to acquire your personal robot may also be worthwhile. His greater variety of functions should justify it.

[ After a brief pause, Yesod indicates himself. ]

By comparison, my body is mechanical, but somewhat limited in its capabilities, particularly on the field.

If they grant it. They're awfully tight-lipped about what they're working on at any given time. [He glances across the onsen. LILITH should be listening in on them...right?] Elan's been thinking of sneaking into their back rooms recently. We still don't know much about the actual people giving us missions. Not that I don't like fighting these monsters, but...it's been a few months.

[It took this long for Taryon to start questioning the leadership.]

Wait. [He turns to Yesod with a focused look.] You're a robot, too?

[In addition to Netzach? How many secret robots are here?]
