Good morning! Did you know it's a special someone's birthday today? Actually, we have several birthdays to celebrate, so join us today at the LILICO Game Center! There will be cake! Lots and *lots* of cake. Hope to see you there!

[ Just gonna. Ignore that question about his own birthday for now. They need to figure out Ryoji's birthday conundrum first. ]

[ Megumi almost never comes to the arcade alone, but he tends to wander wherever his friends are at, and he just so happens to have some pretty extroverted friends. That's why he's here, hanging at the side and watching people play their games. None of them particularly interest him. He does like the plush animals in the crane game, but he knows those things are rigged and he isn't stupid enough to try them. He's already ... wasted some money attempting to find the gacha capsule dog that he wants, anyway (the hunt continues).

He's walking leisurely across the arcade, reading a book he's stored in his ocular implant, when he's abruptly stopped by what feels like a brick wall bumping into his shoulder.

There's just a flat stare, and his gaze falls on the toy as well. ]

... What.

[ Instead of directly answering her question, he sends a picture of a round sea creature to her implant. ]

They're called Blubberbeasts. [ What a creative name. ] They don't seem to exist here, but you can find them soaking up sunbeams on the beaches of Fontaine. I've always found them rather cute.

_{[ and so it begins.

Toji’s expression falls even more irritable when Megumi gives him a similar response with a similar attitude and he notices where Megumi’s eyes follow. Of course he notices the dog toy, because it’s so squishy and cute looking and doesn’t fit any of the middle age depression aesthetic that the rest of Toji has compiled; the loose fitting dark clothes matched the circles around his eyes. ]}

What.

That's a bit of a lie, however. Megumi was definitely glancing at the plush dog in Toji's hands. It's a little cute, and it doesn't match the general attitude or aesthetic of the man holding it at all. If Megumi had a sense of humour, he would be finding this comical. There's a small scoff. ]

I guess this beats your other hobbies.

Oh my gosh, they're adorable! I think a plush might suit them better, but I can absolutely carve you one of these sweethearts. They're so round... How big do they get?

_{[ The jab is immature, but Toji has a strange fluttery feeling in his gut now that he’s realizing the predicament he’s in and his senses are duller than usual. He just shelled out a bunch of money for this stupid toy because he thought it would be cheap, but then he ended up liking the sensation of trying to win a prize even if he kept losing.. that the stupid dog plush ended up costing him a lot more than he thought it was worth.

The toy itself wasn’t worth nearly as much as he paid, but in the long run, seeing Yor’s expression when presented with a cute present, especially for her birthday, he could pay out a lot of money for that. He’s ignoring just how out of character that is for him, because that means confronting his feeling, which is a huge burden he’s not ready to be faced with.

Speaking of that, Toji nervously settles his eyes on Yor. He’s fairly certain Yor has finished her game and caught sight of these two being awkward, but there’s no way he could give Yor this in front of Megumi, and he can’t really tell Megumi to turn away or get lost now that they’ve started a conversation. In a bout of nerves, he shoves the dog toy into Megumi’s arms. ]}

Whatever. Take it already.

_{[ GOD FUCKING DAMMIT SHIT. ]}

[ He seriously can't get a read of this situation right now. Megumi's fairly observant, and he can tell that his father is very unsettled about something, even if there's nothing in the environment particularly unsettling. His follows the man's gaze and finds himself looking at Yor. There's a definite raise of the eyebrow now. What does this all mean? It's piquing his curiousity.

Then, the toy gets shoved in his hands and he's even more dumbfounded. ]

... Why?

[Oh Marcille. You really ought to watch who you ask that question to. Raidou's reaction is probably a bit odd - a little taken aback, unable to answer for a moment.]

[His voice is quiet. Maybe he just heard her wrong? Or so he's hoping.]

Ah... I suppose?

[Seems like a lot of thought to put into something he never really thought much of about in the past.]

Are birthdays really that important...?

[They definitely did to the kids at the high schools, both at home and here. And apparently to the adults too, if this party is anything to go by.]

Toji has an intimidating aura, and as Megumi might have noticed, his temper is rather small despite everything. However, specific things seem to set him off (for example, when Megumi asked about his mother during that dinner time they had.)

Today, it’s the dog plush, but only because of it being in a particular circumstance: he paid a shit ton of money for that and now he doesn’t have a gift for Yor since he’s too awkward to be open about his feelings for her in front of Megumi. ]}

[ The attitude of the person giving him a gift doesn't match the situation or context at all. Megumi doesn't actually know how to respond right now, because it doesn't ... look like his father actually wants to be giving this to him? And yet, he is. There's also the mystery of Toji glancing at Yor, prior to his bizarre series of behaviours. Megumi could leave this whole situation alone, but he's curious, and getting to the bottom of things is far more interesting than anything the arcade can offer. ]

But it's not my birthday? [ He'll take it, because it's cute??? He's just so confused right now. ] Do you need to take a nap or something?

[ He has circles under his eyes and he's acting bizarrely. Maybe he's sleep deprived?? ]

I think they should be, if they aren't. Though maybe that's just because I've never really had a super exciting time of my own.

More of my birthdays, I think, were spent treating it like any other day, studying for a test or doing homework, staying after class to make sure I had what I needed and working hard to keep up with the people around me. And then that continued when I graduated -- it wasn't a special day, or at least no one treated them like it should be. So I think they oughta be!

The ones I've seen get to be around this big but it's possible there are larger ones further out.

[ March has set her slice of cake aside to grab a napkin, so imagine the terrible sense of shock and betrayal she must feel right now when she's turned around and there he is. That guy. That tool.

You should have said something, Raidou-kun. I would have prepared a surprise.

(He starts to take his slice of strawberry shortcake... and Tsurumaru simply lets Gojo take it, though, he manages to swiftly take the single strawberry from the top, picking it and popping it into his mouth. Isn't that the best part of the cake, too,)
