[ He seriously can't get a read of this situation right now. Megumi's fairly observant, and he can tell that his father is very unsettled about something, even if there's nothing in the environment particularly unsettling. His follows the man's gaze and finds himself looking at Yor. There's a definite raise of the eyebrow now. What does this all mean? It's piquing his curiousity.

Then, the toy gets shoved in his hands and he's even more dumbfounded. ]

... Why?

Why? Cause I won it for you!

_{[ SIR, YOU ARE GETTING SO WORKED UP HERE. But he’s probably paid the amount of all the birthdays of yours he’s missed trying to win that, so be grateful.

Toji has an intimidating aura, and as Megumi might have noticed, his temper is rather small despite everything. However, specific things seem to set him off (for example, when Megumi asked about his mother during that dinner time they had.)

Today, it’s the dog plush, but only because of it being in a particular circumstance: he paid a shit ton of money for that and now he doesn’t have a gift for Yor since he’s too awkward to be open about his feelings for her in front of Megumi. ]}

[ The attitude of the person giving him a gift doesn't match the situation or context at all. Megumi doesn't actually know how to respond right now, because it doesn't ... look like his father actually wants to be giving this to him? And yet, he is. There's also the mystery of Toji glancing at Yor, prior to his bizarre series of behaviours. Megumi could leave this whole situation alone, but he's curious, and getting to the bottom of things is far more interesting than anything the arcade can offer. ]

But it's not my birthday? [ He'll take it, because it's cute??? He's just so confused right now. ] Do you need to take a nap or something?

[ He has circles under his eyes and he's acting bizarrely. Maybe he's sleep deprived?? ]

[ She did it. She actually did it. Her palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, and she's pretty sure her body will be too sore to even function properly tomorrow but! She! Did! It! Ten million points!

...on one song. But that's okay! She's so proud of herself that she's still smiling as she lumbers off the machine on shaking legs and has to take a moment to just relax. Her legs are so used to being in motion that every step feels bizarrely light. Maybe she should just sit down for a bit...

That's the thought before her head perks up, catching sight of a very familiar man-wall and a thistle-headed boy. Huh. Now that they're in the same place, the resemblance between them is even stronger. Instantly her fatigue melts off and she trots over to the pair, beaming despite being soaked with sweat and flushed from the exercise. ]

Toji! Megumi! It's nice to see you!

Shut up.

_{[ His voice lowers because Yor is coming this way right now and instantly his posture changes— straightening up and putting his arms crossed as if he was trying to look closed off.

She’s so bright and radiant with that sunshiny smile on her face. He can’t help but look away after looking her over for a moment. When she addresses them, his fingers lift off of his crossed arm and kind of wiggle at her— a tiny wave. ]}

Say hi, Megumi.

_{[ why is he suddenly acting like a stereotypical dad now.. ]}

[ His father telling him to 'shut up' isn't anything too surprising, even if he's still finding his behaviour so bizarre, even for him. Is that him straightening up the moment Yor shows up? Why does he look more awkward than before? ]

I already know Yor-san. [ But he will greet her, because he's polite. ]

It looks like you had a workout on the machines.

[ She'd be blushing if she wasn't already flushed from exercise. Does she really look so tired? She must've gone harder than she thought. ]

I did! It's a lot more challenging than you'd think for a game.

[ She finally notices the plush Megumi's holding. ]

What a cute doll! Did you win that, Megumi?

[ It isn't that he doesn't appreciate this cute plush toy, but he's so confused by the vibe and the conversation right now. ]

What in the world are you talking about ... [ He didn't beg. That's obviously a lie. Why would his father lie about this? He's about to further correct him when ... ]

[ It dawns on him. His father is trying to impress Yor. There's no other reason for how stiff he's looking, and how he's trying to come off like a good father who would do something like this on their own.

So it's like that.

What should Megumi do in this situation? He could send the whole facade crumbling down, but somehow, he doesn't want to. It feels sort of mean, even if there still are things that irritate him about this man. ]

I ... didn't beg. But, yeah, he got it for me.

[ Her eyes light up more, if it's even possible. Her gaze flits from Megumi to Toji to the doll, then back again to Toji. He won that for his boy? ]

Oh!! That's so sweet of you, Toji!

[ Her gaze keeps bouncing between the two, a hand covering the grin threatening to just eat up the rest of her face.

Mission accomplished, it seems. ]

Maybe I should try one of those machines next to see if I can win something.

Tch. Yeah.

_{[ what the fuck, what the fuck, is that a SMILE on his face? Just vaguely? Right before Megumi can get a good look at it, though, he turns away. Then, he kind of leans into this little warm feeling he's having, amping it up to really make himself look good.

Once he's looking back at Yor, he slings his arm around Megumi, half-hugging him.. right into his tit. ]}

Megumi is the only kid I have with my blood. Don't we look alike?

_{[ what the FUCK toji you're creeping me out.. also the hold he has on Megumi is tight.. as if.. threatening... don't say anything about him being an absent father, you... ]}

[ He's gathered rather unwillingly into his father's arms, side of his body smooshed into that stupidly strong chest. It earns an annoyed grunt. What's even worse is the confusing and, frankly, slightly irritating scene that is playing out between them all. Here his father is, clearly trying to chat up Yor and sounding like someone completely unlike themselves. Megumi has an interesting choice to make right now. He could send the whole facade crashing down with a harsh truth, or he could play along.

While he's usually an honest person, he also doesn't like airing out his personal problems in front of uninvolved parties. Plus, it's going to make Yor said. Is his father a good partner? He doesn't know, but he certainly seemed to love his mother.

Anyway, it looks like if he says the wrong thing, the other guy is going to squish him like a stick bug, so ...

All this cordial nonsense is making him nauseous. Nobody said he couldn't act like himself. If he comes off as a bratty, moody teenager, that isn't too strange in a normal family. ] I don't want to look like him.

[ Megumi will probably hate to hear this, but the ship for that request has long since sailed. Now that she sees them both closer together, the only difference is height, build, and hair. So...everything but the face. But Yor won't dare say it aloud. Not when Megumi's already apparently sulking.

What she will do, however, is laugh. ]

I brought some cupcakes for everyone, if you'd like some.

_{[ Heh. Yeah. We are cute. With that, Toji releases Megumi and gives him a brief look, like, don't mess this up for me. Oh God. He knows what Yor cupcakes mean. More than likely she cooked them and they aren't store bought. ]}

I'm sure Megumi would like one. He likes sweet things

[ He does not like sweet things, but he will eat them if there's no other choice.

Making Yor sad isn't exactly a choice he can make.

Does his father even know what he likes to eat, or is he making things up? Maybe if he actually raised him, he would know what he likes to eat. Why does he think he can show up randomly and use Megumi to pick up girls? The more Megumi thinks about it, the more petty he starts to feel, and he's oh, so tempted to destroy this whole facade. Still, he doesn't want Yor to feel awkward, and he doesn't know if he really wants her to know about the problems the both of them have. There's no need to get uninvolved people involved.

Though he's been released from his father's grip, they're standing close enough that some of his body is hidden behind Toji, and he can use that opportunity to punch him hardly in the back. It won't hurt Toji at all. ]

I'll ... have them since you brought them, Yor-san.

[ Unfortunately for Toji's schemes and fortunately for Megumi's stomach, Yor is quick to gush about the cupcakes and their origin. ]

Wonderful! I found this adorable bakery nearby that makes really big ones and had to get them. [ She turns as if to go fetch theirs for them, then stops mid-turn. ] Is any flavor okay or do you have a preference? There's chocolate, vanilla, blueberry, red velvet, lemon... You can follow me and see for yourself!
