Tsurumaru is nursing a drink, one that he's had quite a bit of but slowly over time-- just enough to look like he's keeping up with others but anyone really watching will see that he only drinks when others are watching or expect him to. When no one is around, he just keeps it to himself.)

It depends on what you mean by "live."

(He could explain. But he chooses to say it like this.)

[ Marcille drops her hand and holds onto the bar for balance as she leans in, like suddenly Tsuru is made of small text that she can't read. ]

Huh? Living and breathing. What else would I mean?

In that case... not for long, I hope.

(You know, when you're a spirit summoned to fight in a war... Well, maybe you just want the war to end.)

But you know, a lot of things don't need to breathe to live.

[ She drops her cup on the counter a little too loudly. ]

You hope?!

[ Customers and Outsiders glance over at them but quickly return to their drinks and meals. Loud drunk people are common here. Girl calm down. ]

Being human is fun at times but at other times, it's a drag.

(And he sighs,)

If I live like this too long, I think I'd be miserable.

[ SQUINTING. LEANING IN. This man looks perfectly normal—but wait. They're wearing cloaking devices, aren't they? ]

You're not human? [ She sits back, blinking. ] What are you then?

(Keep squinting and he'll think you're checking him out.....)

(This form might be human but when it comes to what he realy is....)

[ She repeats and raises her chin, trying to make the word stick in her memory—to make the concept of an Outsider being a spirit into something she can comprehend.

It takes a second. Then she jerks her head back to stare wide-eyed at Tsuru. This is quite a thing to tell a drunk person. ]

Y-You're— [ She leans in and lowers her voice to a devastated whisper: ] You're already dead?!
