If only one person could turn the tide, just like that.
His red eyes fix on the junk and grime around them.
"I can't take a break." He says, after a moment - he brushes a hand through his own bangs, weary. "I can't. As long as I still breathe. As long as...it still exists."
no subject
His own eyes gather that movement and what's being said. "What about after?" he asks, setting things into categories of heavy, not so heavy, and can take a few at once. "When you're done?"
no subject
"I'll sink into a well of my own karma. That's all there is to it."
no subject
He stops moving things again, sitting on one of the partly cleared, sturdier looking surfaces. "Instead of wasting yourself, if you think you've done wrongs, do something right to make up for them. Help someone pick up groceries they've dropped. Return an item to a stranger. If someone is struggling in a store, pick out the item for them. Clean up a single street, mow someone's lawn for them, shovel snow for someone who can't. Wasting your life sinking into a well of your own despair seems even more a disservice to whatever you're sinking for to begin with."
no subject
"I did that. I am doing that. Every day, I do that. I..."
He stops, starts, almost a little helpless - but he's bristling all the same.
"There's no use. In the end, the City took it all. Whatever good, it swallows whole. The butterfly you set free is eaten by a spider in a second. You don't know what it's been like. So be quiet."
no subject
This sounds a lot like Bakugo to him, barking out something angrily only to really feel something else entirely that's his own self guilt.
"We can change the topic. I think that if those small things weren't important or of worth, you wouldn't be doing them in the first place. But I do know what a broken, demoralizing world looks like, I just never see it that way." He pushes himself off of where he's seated and does as he promised and if nothing else is said, will work quietly until a break where he can at least offer water.

Good for the optimists of the world. Maybe one time, he saw it like that, too. But he learned better, didn't he...?
Vergilius watches the other move off - stewing in his own emotions, and not a talker to begin with, he falls quiet and does his work in guilt-ridden peace. So-called peace. It's only until he sees the tip of the bottle in his vision that he turns once again to the young man.
"...Thanks." He takes it. "Did you get any for yourself?"

"I don't need it, my quirk can take care of it." He produces a small ball of ice in his right hand, and melts it just as quickly in his left. "It's not infinite, but it's enough. I promise I brought that, it's not from my quirk." Because not everyone likes the idea of maybe drinking someone's ability. "We've done a lot today, and I appreciate working together."
no subject
Sure, he's seen people have abilities and powers, but its all stuff that you'd buy, with technology and surgeries. The ball of ice gets his glance, before he lets them focus back on the other's face.
"....Hm." Well, he's a polite one. He would give him that. "Is that something you were born with? This quirk."

COMES BACK WITH STARBUCKS I THOUGHT I TAGGED THIS
As if he can say anything, given where he comes from, but he follows it up with an explanation.
"Where I come from, that stuff isn't inherited. Usually, you buy it."
Between g-mail eating things and life in general, it happens LOL no worries.
"You buy abilities? Does that mean..." Shoto gestures to his own eyes, even if they're not the red that he saw flash. "When you got angry, they changed."
