[Hello, fellow member of Brimstone.

A day or after you arrive, someone will come knock on your door.

Well, technically, first he grabs the handle and tries to open the door. There's a pause and then the knock. It's not a soft, inquiring knock, it's an energetic knock that goes on much longer than really necessary, like it's done by someone who doesn't understand a knock is a request and not a summons.

If you answer the knock, or come across him knock on yours/a day, he'll drop his hand and look at you with an amused curiosity.]

So. Who are you then?

[Yup, that's it. That's the important question at the center of all this knocking.]

( it doesn't take long for wanderer to realize he had been assigned the loudest and messiest team in lilith. there's a guy who doesn't know indoor voices, there's his neighbor whose face he'd rather not see at all, and then there's this. people without basic etiquette, lousy thieves or, and wanderer sincerely wish this was the case, an actual enemy. who's to say lilith is even entirely safe, to begin with? besides, he's the first room in the brimstone hallway. of course most things will likely come to happen to him first... which is good, because he's no easy target, but also annoying, because he'd rather be left alone.

all in all, well - at least wanderer answers the door... though he does so while harnessing anemo in one of his hands in case he has to blast it at whoever tried to get into his room without permission. he's greeted, instead, with the sight of a boy who barely looks like a fighter, and wanderer disperses the void of anemo gathered in his palm. )

Hmph. Of course someone who tries to break into someone else's room doesn't understand basic manners. Why should I tell you anything when I don't know who you are?

I knocked on the door.

[Just because it was a total afterthought should not negate the fact that it was done! Apparently.]

Because we're teammates. And that means we're supposed to work together.

[And so it means you should answer his questions.]

why does everyone he comes across want to work together. does wanderer look like someone who works together with anyone??? )

Introduce yourself first before you ask for anyone else's name.

( is that too much to ask for? apparently. )

[Well, Kaworu doesn't really know what features would preclude someone to wanting to work together but he is fascinated by the concept of teammates and is very willing to do so for this very reason. He's never met so many people before.]

( cue the squinting, as though trying to gauge whether that name is real or not. ultimately it doesn't matter, really. names are so easily discarded.

Even my creators felt it was worth giving me a name. Why don't you have one?

( kaworu... you're truly so lucky he has long stopped being a fraction of what he was like as scaramouche. that would not have ended very well.

Mine didn't bother with it. ( not all creators are so nice, kaworu. ) Nor do I care enough, but humans find it inconvenient not to have something to call someone.

That's very true. [This person is not human either? And knows how humans behave in such ridiculous ways? Delightful!] That's probably why they gave me one. They did create me in their image after all.

[And now he gets to pick what to call someone. How fun.]

You need to tell me more about you to help me choose.

( ?????? about him... what is there to say? he stares long and hard at kaworu for what feels like a while, before turning his gaze away. )

Anything is fine. I don't have anything good or fun to say about myself either.

[Well! This isn't working. There's a bit of sulking mixed in the with the gears turning of trying to come up with a name. The gears are turning so hard in his little brain.]

I'll call you "No Name" for now while I try to think of something that would be a proper name.

( kaworu... isn't that the same as just being called nameless, to begin with? but fine, fine. wanderer did ask, and he did, in a way, receive. at the very least, he doesn't look at all bothered. if anything - he's thinking on it, as though trying to find a way to make it less... annoying, to deal with. )

Then how about Nanashi? Easier to say than 'No Name'.

( at this point that's already a name in itself, but ok. )

If that's the language you prefer. Otherwise, the name would be namenlos in German, which is the first language I learned to speak. So I'm fond of it in an odd way.

[Still! He looks pleased. In his mind, this conversation has gone very well. Because it's gone better than any other conversation he's ever had. Don't trip over the bar, Nanashi.]

Like I said, call me whatever you like. You're the one who's going to be saying it, not me. If you prefer it to be in a language you know, then so be it.

( whatever german is!! he has no preference no matter what, for names are just that easily replaceable, forgotten and discarded. still - a part of him feels good, at knowing he has a name again. even if it translates to no name.

You're not supposed to decline, you're supposed to agree and that's how we get to know each other.

( that's what happens when you skip all the steps to form a friendship, kaworu... )

That's not how it works. ( not that he'd.. know... that well, but ) What happens when you get to know someone and you don't like their personality? You're going to break the friendship, just like that?

No idea. I haven't decided. I would have to know what it's like to dislike someone like that before I know what I would do.

... You have never hated someone? Or something?

I've never really hated anyone for my own reasons. Or learned I disliked them. All of the conflict I've had with others is because of who were. So it was more predestination than choice. Of course, I'd dislike the old men that created me for their own purposes. Or the First Child for being similar to me and yet having what I wanted.

I don't know why I might dislike someone otherwise.

( ok. hmmm. well. he can understand that... like... a little too well. what differs them is truly kaworu's lack of betrayal, huh. )

Your dislike doesn't sound very convincing. ( wdym people don't just hate someone with a burning passion and revolve their entire lives into seeking revenge ) But a certain someone I know would say there's nothing wrong with that. I call that mindset foolish. That will only make you an easier target to mess with.
