[ hunter will be silently patrolling the perimeter for most of the night... multiple nights, actually. when does he sleep? mystery ]

[ For how much it seems like Elysium's willing to get lost up in all the fun, he's actually paying attention to people quite closely still. Which is why on one of the many nights, he'll approach hunter directly. ]

[ giving elysium a skeptical look..... i don't know if the bachelor party log is after this or not but he just senses ely's vibes and finds him too enthusiastic, but he is very skeptical ]

[ The bachelor party is right before this, so they're all good! (Or in Elysium's case, he's really not but he's pretending he is…) ]

Of course!

[ No offense taken, even if it's coming from someone significantly younger than him. And as accustomed as he is to working with teens and them being involved in his professional environments—he is an advocate of making their burdens as light as possible, without crossing the delicate boundary of coddling. ]

I may not give the impression, but I am quite adept in combat, you know? You could say travelling the world was one of my primary professions back where I came from—so you can imagine that often required me to brave rather fraught conditions both alone and with others alike.

I wanted to be a Messenger once, you see. Basically, they're these guys that study and predict the nature of cataclysmic natural disasters, pretty important stuff. So, to travel and know all the far parts of the world was just one of the things they did.

[ The ELI5. It's a little more complicated that, but that's the gist of it. Anyway! You can't expect to win them all overnight, so Elysium will remain his blissfully sunny self. Hunter can be his lil judgy bitch and Elysium will accept him for it… ]

Blizzards, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, all manners of hostiles. I've had to contend with all of those and then some! I can handle a little desert, trust.

[A pause, as he moves his gaze back to the flames.]

[ One of those nights, Lucy's out and about patrolling as well. Staring into space, thinking, throwing rocks with absurd precision at the slightest weird noise in the distance. You know, the usual. And strapped with one of her newly acquired guns on her back because she needs to get used to carrying them.

Though seeing Hunter and his perpetual eyebags, she pauses to consider something. And holds out a can of certainly not Red Bull because he looks like he needs it. ]

You're pulling an all-nighter too?

[ he's noticed her in his patrols, but opted not to bother her too much since it seemed like she was doing her own things. that and he saw her weapon, and her very precise aim!!! ]

[ he takes the can of red bull automatically, but seems a little unsure of what to actually do with it ]

Patrolling. But I'm not tired.

[ clearly.... ]

If you're not intending to sleep, then maybe we can figure out how to cover all our bases.

[ She's in the midst of cracking open her own can to drink from when she considers that plan. Cover all the bases, huh? ]

That day is not today though, because we are going to pretend this is early on during patrols. Here's Wriothesley, keeping late hours for a bit and stepping out when he sees that skinny figure skulking around at the perimeter. ]

[ anyway, hunter's eyes flick over to acknowledge him. it's not like he smiles, but his expression does lighten a bit when he catches sight of him, even though he's sure he's about to get pried at or scolded. he likes u, wariodad... ]

Why wouldn't I be? We're in dangerous and unfamiliar terrain.

Before Wriothesley answers, he tosses something at Hunter without warning. Catch—! It's long and yellow, with a couple of brown spots starting to form from being out in the sun and heat all the time. Today Hunter will learn about bananas (if he hasn't already). ]

Sure, but there are plenty of other people here. You don't have to be the only one on guard duty.

[ (of course, he doesn't comment on wry lesley trying to get him to rest. clearly he needs to patrol!! regardless of who else is doing it) ]

Actually, I was offering you something to eat. You'll need to keep your strength up if you insist on patrolling around camp.
