A god?

[ now that's a word they never speak of back home. it's strange — that denji knew of devils and hell, he'd been there himself twice, but he never thought of god, angels, and heaven. hmm, interesting. he shakes his head, not recognizing that name nor has ever heard of a 'persona'. ]

Do you guys use contracts with each creature? You give something of yourself in exchange of using their abilities?

That's right. For example, Futsunushi no Okami, god of swords, was among my allies. [Raidou can't help but smile proudly, just a little.]

A contract not be quite the right term. An agreement, a pact. Demons want different things from you. Some want an ally, or companionship, or sometimes just even money. [Hell has its own currency. Go figure.] In exchange for their help, they can use my energy to make themselves more powerful. Though we call it magnetite, or mag. I'm not capable of casting spells on my own, so their help is vital to me.

[Raidou is normally fairly quiet, speaking often in short clips. This gives the impression of information he's used to reciting.]

Is it anything similar to where you are from?

Ah ... [ not one god, but multiple? and each had its own quirk it seems. further into raidou's explanation and the payment method, he finally pinpointed why the other boy had such a casual attitude in the partnerships. back home, humans wouldn't resolve to contract with a devil unless they had to and were willing to lose something more precious than money. ]

The devils at your home are nicer. It doesn't work that way for us. A devil wants something from you in exchange for their powers. If you're willing to sacrifice an arm, eye, your legs, or even your soul ... only then they will serve you.

[ a pause, he then smiled. ]

Not all of them are bad, though.

[He seems surprised to heard that, and maybe mildly horrified.]

... I'm glad not all of them demand such things.

[And he considerings himself very lucky now.]

Are you able to contact with multiple devils?

[ oh you sweet summer child. denji will take note to keep the details as timid as possible, then. ]

No way. I got the best one. Pochita is the best one.

[ the lil menace is the reason why EVERYONE WANTS DENJI DEAD but— he still loves him. since they're here in the open space, where they can try anything ... ]

[Working with demons is weird on the best of days, but he'll count his lucky stars that none of them want his body parts.

He can relate, though. He thinks all of his demons are the best, too. But when asked if he can show them off, he looks a little sad, shaking his head.]

I would if I could. I was sent here without any of my demons. And it seems this world doesn't have them, or at least not as I know them.

[Kaiju are not demons. None yet have been, anyway.]

As a summoner, I can only use magic to help power and protect those I work with. I can't use spells like an onmyouji or exorcist would.

[ oh. well. there goes his plan to call backup in case makima decides to pull another dangerous stunt in this city. then again, raidou did mention he can still act as support- whatever that means.

...Not quiet. I am still skilled with weaponry. And... [He debates talking about this, and he's not even sure why he'd need to be secretive about this. Old habits die hard, maybe?]

While I may not have my demons, I am trying other things. There are those among the Outsiders who, by their nature, resemble demons. I want to offer my power to those who might be able to utilize it. It has worked once so far. It's given me a goal. [And some hope.]

he raised a brow, seemingly interested. there is a lot he didn't understand and they could go back and forth with verbal explanation, but for someone like denji — he'd learn a lot faster with his eyes; with what he can see. a visual always speaks louder to him. ]

Ah-- [Raidou's a little surprised at how quickly Denji offers.]

You're interested then? [There's a beat as he looks at Denji, head tilted curiously.]

[As that is the most important factor in allying with a demon.]

[ interested? of course. it's why he approached this guy from day one and figured it would be smart to pinpoint anyone who could help him in case he had to go to war with the control devil again.

trust? ... hmm. denji took a moment to think, idly staring to the side and then smiled. a lazy one, but genuine. ]

Katsuki trusts you, so ... yes. I trust you, too.

[That manages to get a rare smile out of Raidou as well.]

I'm glad to hear that.

[Raidou offers out a hand for a handshake.]

Find me during the next kaiju mission. Before we have to fight it. We'll go from there. Alright?
