[ Oh. Oh. Wriothesley immediately straightens to attention, shifting so he can face Megumi and give the younger man all of his attention. ]

What did he say?
seaurchin: (25)

Phone tagging

[personal profile] seaurchin 2024-05-25 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
He said I was his best friend and very important to him.

... Then, he started to cry.

[ it's pretty much a rejection there, and Megumi knows that, but what's the crying about? ]

join me in phone tagging land

Cry?

[ What's going on there.... ]

Did he say why he was crying?

[ only yuji knows the jjk spoilers ]

No, but he's keeping it from me on purpose. He started to act like this ever since he came back from our world.

... I'll probably die the moment I go home.

[ but why does he not seem to give a shit ]

[ WHY DID HE SAY THAT SO NORMALLY.....Megumi might not give a shit but Wriothesley is definitely out here with deep concern on his face. On the one hand, everyone seems to have died one way or another prior to arriving here, so the knowledge that he might go back just to die isn't so surprising.

On the other hand.... ]

You don't sound very worried about that.

[ Megumi doesn't hate living. There are things to look forward to between all the grief and danger - especially here, away from his own world. He wouldn't say he wants to die. At the same time, it's not something he's ever been afraid of or tried to run away from. He's always accepted that his time would come far sooner than most. Sorcerers die young after all, and his most powerful ability does come at the cost of his own life. ]

We're all going to die at some point. I don't think there's any point getting upset about it.

[ Not wrong, but the way he says it only serves to deepen Wriotheseley's frown. No one that young should be thinking so readily about their demise, not if they've lived a happy and healthy enough childhood. (But how many of them have here, really?) ]

Perhaps not, but aren't there things you still want to do before you die?

[ Hang out with friends, eat delicious food, see all the sights the world has to offer? ]

[ There's a pause as that question catches him temporarily off guard, and then he frowns at Wriostheley. ]

You're always trying to make me think about things I don't normally think about. [ Like .... his happiness?? And personal aspirations???? Who thinks about those things? ]

[ Wriothesley looks over at Megumi, eyebrows raised in wry humor. ]

You know those are things most people think about, right?

[ He's just teasing Megumi at this point, a gentle jab at his overly serious old man habits before he sobers up again, gazes traveling back out to the night sky. ]

Looking at the world through a different lens isn't so bad, every once in a while. Even for me. I wasn't always like this, you know.

[ Confident, gregarious, appreciative of life's smaller things. ]

[personal profile] seaurchin 2024-06-05 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He is not a normal 16-year-old boy, what can he say. ]

Alright. How were you like before, then? [ He will turn the tables on Wriosthesley. Even if he hasn't chosen the 'truth' option so far. ]

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-06-05 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's fine, he trusts Megumi enough to offer up personal details free of charge. Megumi's opened up about himself, the least Wriothesley can do is return the favor to some degree. ]

Angry, mostly. At the world around me, and the laws that only protected a small fraction of people while ignoring the needs and wants of everyone else.

[ Technically he's still a little angry about that, but... ]

But anger can only get you so far, and it'll consume everything you are if you let it. I've learned to appreciate the rest of what life has to offer now that I've been given a new lease on life.

Anger can also inspire you to act, though. [ You don't have to be nice all the time. Sometimes you can go apeshit. ]

But problems like that seem to show up in every society.

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-06-08 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He did his time in the apeshit mines, thanks. ]

You're not wrong. [ Said with a sigh. ] Do you think it'll make a difference? What we do here?

We're saving people, so it isn't like we aren't doing anything. [And it isn't like they have any other choice. He can't exactly sleep peacefully knowing he's allowing monsters to run rampant and kill people without actually doing anything to help. ]

But a lot of the times, it does feel like we're just putting a band-aid on the problem. [ With how they seem to be cleaning up any Kaiju that appears, rather than working to stop them from appearing in the first place. ]
