Yeah... Friends are hard to come by back home, you know? You find some folks you enjoy hanging around with and the next day, they are gone.

[Either meeting a brutal demise or they got whisked away in the tides of society... It's why the residents of The City are chose loneliness or strict restraint over having their hearts broken from losing someone important to them.]

Not trying to bring down the mood or anything, but that's the reality we dealt with back home. [She looks down on her hands, a smile creeping on her lips. Not forced at all, this one is rather thoughtful.] Now? We can relax a little better as we look for ourselves.

[Maybe hope does exist for people like her, Ishmael, and all the other City dwellers that got pulled in by LILITH.]

[ Such a bleak outcome, though it certainly goes a ways in explaining why Ishmael had been so reluctant to get close to someone. Life in Neo-Tokyo isn't glamorous by any means, but the fact that it's better says a lot about their lives back in the City. ]

Not to downplay the severity of our situation here, but I'm glad the two of you can unwind here for a bit.

Yeah. This place isn't perfect, but it's honestly a cake walk compared to The City.

[Now she wants cake for saying that, but sadly that has to wait until later when they are not in the scorching desert. His question does make her go quiet for a little bit so she can think on it.]

If I could get away with it, most likely... As much as I hate to admit it, I got unfinished business at home. Work contract and stuff I don't want to deal with yet I know I got to face it at some point. [dramatic sigh.] A lot of strange things do happen back at home so who knows- I might find a door that will lead me back here.

[She kind of accepted that the possibility exists since day one and she warned Ishmael that, but she also reassured that they should take advantage of this situation while they are here.]

It is pretty nice here, huh?

[ Minus the giant kaiju and the wealth disparity and the corruption and social inequality that runs rampant. But from what little he's gleaned about the City so far, things do sound a lot more tolerable here. ]

Then I hope you can find a door that leads you back here. Who knows, maybe they'll let us install one somehow as a reward once we finish our service.

[ He's mostly joking, but it's a nice thought all the same. ]
