[ Though faint, Megumi feels his energy before he sees him - the aura of the other boy that always had a hint of malevolence to it (it doesn't suit him, but he knows where that comes from). The moment he picks up on it, he's following it immediately with desperation, not wanting to lose sight of Yuji for even a moment. They only just reunited the last he remembers, and he doesn't want to be separated again. Bad things happen when they separate after all (and worst things happen when they stay together, but Megumi doesn't know that yet).

Shifting through the busy Christmas crowd, Megumi finally gets close enough to see that familiar tuff of pink hair, and he grabs the other boy by the arm, roughly demanding his attention. ]

[ Yuji is panicked as soon as he realises that Fushiguro is here - he can remember the sound of Sukuna's voice hissing out that word, the sudden, ominous fear that had overtaken him, the way that gaze had shifted to his friend. With everything that had happened in a few short moments, it was impossible for him to ignore the threat of what was going to happen: something awful was going to take Fushiguro.

He wished he understood it better, but he doesn't, and that has to be one of his biggest failings.

The hand around his arm makes him jump a little, but then his eyes are widening, his expression nervous, afraid. ]

Fushiguro! You're okay?

[ The reaction is too strange. There's no reason for this boy to be as jumpy as he is. They've been through so much that there shouldn't be very much that can still spook Yuji, not even an interdimensional kidnapping. What's stranger is the fact that it seems to be Megumi's presence at all that's startling him, when this doesn't happen too often. ]

Of course. [ He has a bad feeling about this somehow. ] Why wouldn't I be?

This place is just weird, right? Who knows what could've happened.

[ It's probably not a great excuse, but it'll have to do for now. Yuji lifts a hand and rubs at his face, breathing out sharply and shaking his head. He's gotta get control! Otherwise Fushiguro is definitely going to think this is out of place. ]

I was worried they did something to you.

[ Megumi usually has more nice things to say about his friend than otherwise, but even he can admit that if there's one thing Yuji actually is bad at, it's lying. He spots that shift in demeanor right away, like Yuji is almost forcing himself to come off casual, and it reminds him of those other times he would act in this same way. Of course, Yuji's response isn't unreasonable either, so he could actually be telling the truth. Which is it?

Megumi will follow his gut and push just a little further. ]

Are you sure there's nothing wrong?

[eyescar]

It's totally fine. You're safe, and that's what matters.

[ Safe how? No need to say anything more.

The last thing Yuji remembers is the echo of the enchain command and the sudden, panicked fear that something might have happened to Fushiguro. Thinking about it... It makes his stomach turn. ]

Have you seen anyone else?

[seaurchin]

[ Megumi's pushing for some sort of answer, and if his hunch is wrong, Yuji would instead be questioning him on why he's being so persistent. He wouldn't be trying to reassure him, like he's doing now. His gaze stays fixed on the other boy, as if suspicious that he might be hiding something.

Then, he relents. ] Tell me when you're ready.

[eyescar]

Fushiguro...

[ He must really be a bad liar, huh? Yuji sighs, rubbing his face, before he nods once. It's all he can do right now, given... Everything. ]

When I'm ready. Okay?
